I am a huge fan of Michael Jai White. From his roles opposite Don “The Dragon” Wilson in Ring of Fire and its second sequel Lion Strike, to the first time I watched his starring role as the titular hero in the movie adaptation of Todd MacFarlane’s Spawn, to his directorial debut Never Back Down 2 (a truly under-rated Dtv action movie sequel), I have sat through and thoroughly enjoyed a Lot of White’s movies.
Until now that is.
As I found with this flick, sometimes as a movie reviewer you come across a film that – despite it, on paper, ticking all your filmic checkboxes – really doesn’t click with you. For me, Falcon Rising is one such movie…...

Daniel Pinder sounds like any regular 25 year old, but this young actor will soon be starring in “Garrison 7: The Fallen”, one of the most anticipated science fiction movies that fans have been waiting for. Pinder first made his step onto the film scene with his role of Michael on NBC’s crime drama “Chicago Pd” and now he gears up for his biggest role yet as Kai in the G7 Universe, alongside Japanese actress Hazuki Kato. Hazuki Kato is a Japanese born actress who has starred in movies such as “Falcon Rising” and “Atomic Eden”. Kato will be playing Tarren Kh’an in G7.
We are unsure if Pinder’s character and Kato’s will meet in the film, but Pinder’s character is one of the key roles throughout the G7 Universe. There’s also been rumors of possible Asian filming locations, but that has not been confirmed yet.

Dear god, can’t someone give Michael Jai White a break? The star of the underrated Spawn, the fantastic blaxploitation spoof Black Dynamite, and the man behind supervillain Bronze Tiger in season 2 of Arrow, has been toiling away in Dtv action movie purgatory for some time now. For every decent action movie he makes – like Never Back Down 2 and Undisputed 2; he also has to appear in ill-judged films like Falcon Rising and this, Deadly Target.
Originally titled Chain of Command (no doubt renamed to stop any confusion with the hundred or so other movies with that moniker), Deadly Target sees White star as Special Operative James Webster who returns home after a tour of duty, only to...

Since his role in the blockbusting ensemble piece The Expendables, Dolph Lundgren has been somewhat of a tour-de-force in the world of direct-to-market action flicks. From straight forward action movies like Hard Rush and A Certain Justice, to more fantastical films such Battle of the Damned and Legendary, Lundgren has been tolling away in the genre starring in films that, whilst not all are entirely successful, are ways apart from his pre-Expendables career.
The reason for his recent success, in this reviewers opinion, seems to be his willingness to share the limelight. Where once he may have demanded the mot screen time, a headline on the poster etc., these days his films are more about the ensembles within them. He’s starred alongside the likes of Vinnie Jones, Randy Couture, Cung Le (an underrated action star...

Want some action? We’ve got plenty from two guys who know to create it. From Spawn to Falcon Rising, Michael Jai White has never shied away from the heat and he proves it again with his new film, Skin Trade. Plus Christian Kane balances the thrills in The Librarians, but proves his musical side in the new project 50 To One. Now, think about it – wouldn’t he make a great Wolverine? We ask for his reaction to that.

We are big fans of the work of actor Michael Jai White and fight choreographer Larnell Stovall. When the two of them work together? Hoo boy, the results are pretty cool. Their work in Ernie Barbarash's Falcon Rising is such an example. John Falcon Chapman is an ex-marine anti-hero plagued with a terrible secret consuming him with guilt. On the self-destructive edge, he learns his sister has been brutally beaten in the favelas of Brazil and travels there to hunt down her attackers. In the process he discovers an underworld of drugs, prostitution and police corruption ruled by the Japanese mafia.Spirit Entertainment is releasing Falcon Rising on UK DVD (R2) and VOD on May 18th. ...

Michael Jai White will be present (in person and on screen) at this year's Urbanworld Film Festival, which kicks off tomorrow, September 17, in New York City, with the New York premiere of Gina Prince-Bythewood's latest, "Beyond the Light." White, Taimak and some surprise guests will feature in the Urban Action Showcase Diversity in Action night at the Urban World Film Festival, which will include a screening of White's latest actioner, "Falcon Rising," as well as a provocative conversation about the need for more diversity of representation in on-screen heroic images (especially in action movies) that reflect society at large in the Action genre as well as...

Its supporting characters, like beat cop Katarina Da Silva (Millie Ruperto), may insist that "the world isn't always white-and-black . . . especially not in the favela." But the Rio-set thriller Falcon Rising could easily be reset in Commando's fictional, monochromatic banana republic of Val Verde, as its creators fail to highlight the idiosyncrasies of its setting.
Both Commando and Falcon Rising follow burly American war vets who schlep out to third-world countries just to kill locals who have wronged the women they love. Here, ex-marine John Chapman (Black Dynamite star Michael Jai White) avenges his sister Cindy (Laila Ali), a social worker, after crooked cops put her in a coma.
