Closet Monster is the spiritual sequel to Dustin's Beyond the Gates of Hell. It's also part of the second Grindhouse double feature collection, and I do recommend watching those other films first (Liza Warden From Hell, Beyond, Liza Palace of Pleasure and Pain) and watching this film after (as intended I believe).
Closet Monster gripped me from the very beginning with it's mature tone and interesting plot.
Veronica (Alana Dro), is a psychic who has the ability to see murders before they happen and help catch serial killers.
Without spoiling too much, this turns into a deep, personal character study once an enigmatic creature that lurks within her closet gains control of her thoughts and dreams.
Alana Dro really did amazing here, she has this really sweet vibe about her that really helped make the character of Veronica more convincing and relatable.
Joshua Palace's score here is the best I have heard from him so far, ever since watching this film, I became a huge fan of his, especially after realising he had also scored the other films in the Grindhouse Double Features (1 and 2) and he also did the amazing theme from Dustin's Hell of the Screaming Undead.
Closet Monster had me hooked from the get go, from the promo material, to the world turning finale, I feel like this is Dustin's most mature and solid works, delivered with so much confidence and style.
HIGHLY recommended, I really hope other people enjoy this as much as I did.
