ESPN's baseball broadcasts are atrocious. There's very little insightful analysis or energy. They typically drone on for nine innings with inane factoids about whichever team has more star power, particularly if that team is in a top media market, while largely ignoring the opponent. They insist upon ridiculous interviews of players that are on the field of play, which are almost as distracting to the viewer as they must be for participating players. National MLB broadcasts would be greatly improved if they replaced the four-person ESPN booth with the local play-by-play and color commentators from each participating ballclub so you could learn something interesting from people with passion and insight into whoever's playing. Apple TV is doing some cool things with camera angles that ESPN could borrow as well.
