- GoofsA big deal is made of Ron's life bird species, a Prairie Falcon. Towards the end of the movie, when he finally sees his "life bird", the bird shown in the movie is clearly a Peregrine Falcon, not a Prairie Falcon. The call that leads him to the bird is also not a Prairie Falcon's call.

This is a rare, quirky, little gem of a movie - not well known which is the only reason why the imdb rating is low.
Graham Greene has an almost cameo role, and Fred Willard is here and these are likely the only actors you'll recognize, which is one reason great movies like this 'fly' under the radar. Too many people avoid movies that don't have block-buster stars involved, and thereby miss seeing a wonderful, rare bird!
If you've ever seen Napolean Dynamite you might notice a rather similar, quirky humor style except this movie has a more focused plot story and witty, dead-pan dialogue combined with perfect delivery-timing moving it along at a good pace. Instead of a nerdy, ill-fitting teenager 'finding himself' with an equally nerdy-but-somehow-cool sidekick, we have a nerdy adult school teacher/father/husband who loses an expected promotion, among other setbacks - He also has a nerdy-cool sidekick, and they both 'find themselves' as they attempt to bring down the younger guy who got the promotion.
There's very little bird watching or in-depth discussion of birds. Birds & bird watching are just the 'berdy' career-vehicle for the engaging characters in this comedy of quirky humor & wit - not slapschticky at all.
You have to use binoculars & explore a little deeper to hopefully ever find & watch more movies like this!
