A profile of
Brooke Shields is presented. Now at age fifty-six, her life is largely presented as two very different phases separated by the surprise to many of she having gone to Princeton for a college education in her late teens/early twenties. The pre-Princeton life focuses on the control wielded by her divorced mother,
Teri Shields, in wanting to present her beautiful daughter to the world in what would be a highly sexualized manner in her childhood, most controversially in
Pretty Baby (1978) when Brooke was eleven, the movie which included her appearing nude. The post-Princeton life focuses on her trying to find her voice as an adult, especially what the public would accept her as if she indeed wanted a life in the public eye most specifically as an actress, and how she would break free from a world which was highly controlled for her up until that point.
