Gena Rowlands, whose seminal and fearless performance in “A Woman Under the Influence” inspired a generation and who starred in many other John Cassavetes features as well as the romance “The Notebook,” died Wednesday at her home in Indian Wells, Calif. She was 94.

Her death was confirmed by the office of her son’s agent. In June, Nick Cassavetes, who directed his mother in “The Notebook,” shared that the three-time Emmy winner and two-time Oscar nominee had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Rowlands’ role as Mabel Longhetti in the 1974 drama “A Woman Under the Influence,” written for her and directed by husband John Cassavetes, landed the actor the first of two Academy Award nominations. The other nom was for “Gloria” (1980), also directed by her husband. In November 2015, she was awarded an honorary Academy Award at the annual Governors Awards in recognition of her storied career.

Expanding Chinese mini-studio Vision Film has acquired mainland China rights to upcoming horror-thriller “Ghosts of War.” Directed by Eric Bress, the film is currently in post-production and is expected to hit Chinese theaters at the end of the year.

“Ghosts” follows five battle-hardened American soldiers who are assigned, near the end of World War II, to hold a French chateau formerly occupied by the Nazi high command. The mission quickly descends into madness when they encounter a supernatural enemy more terrifying than anything seen on the battlefield.

The film stars Brenton Thwaites, Theo Rossi (“Sons of Anarchy”), Skylar Astin (“Pitch Perfect 1 & 2”), Kyle Gallner (“American Sniper”), and Alan Ritchson (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”), alongside Shaun Toub (“Iron Man”) and Billy Zane.

This just before the Cannes Film Festival opening-night film Grace Of Monaco, which Langella stars in with Nicole Kidman and Tim Roth. Traverse Media has acquired North American digital rights to the Blanc/Biehn Productions thriller starring Michael Biehn.

The story centres on the nightmare that ensues when an indiscretion tests a strained father-son relationship and reveals deep secrets.

The cast includes Sarah Butler, Caitlin Keats, Jennifer Blanc (pictured at right with Biehn), Chris Meyer, Matthew Ziff, Richard Gunn, Christian Meoli and Tany Newbould.

Traverse will release in the first half of 2014 and will co-present a Los Angeles theatrical screening at a date to be determined.

Penn Badgley and Zoë Kravitz are officially back on! The couple showed supersweet Pda while vacationing together in Rome, Italy, on Sunday. They strolled side by side, cuddled during a meal, and took turns snapping photos of each other at the table. Penn even planted a smooch on his lady as she rested her head on his shoulder. Zoë and Penn appear to have reconciled since splitting in early June. They reportedly ended on "good terms" in the middle of their busy schedules, which included work on Penn's film Parts Per Billion and production on Zoë's Divergent in Chicago. The workload was clearly not enough to keep them apart, however, since they seem to be getting pretty hot and heavy during this overseas trip.

Among the extras material on the disc, the clip below is among the set of cast and crew interviews (helmer Kieran Darcy-Smith, Felicity Price, Joel Edgerton, Antony Starr) that took place among what we imagine was the sun-drenched setting found in the film. While we don’t gain any additional insight into the character’s dynamic, we easily get a sense how she might approached her with a playfulness – which is of course how we are first presented to the character before the film switches in tone.

Teresa Palmer has her very own warm body on the way.

The 27-year-old Australian actress is expecting her first child with fiance Mark Webber, 33, and she shared the good news via Instagram on Monday, posting a photo of her sonogram next to a pair of baby booties.

"To my precious baby -- I'm so blessed to be your mama, we have been wishing for you for awhile," the "Warm Bodies" star wrote. "We love you so much and can't wait to kiss your little face and tiny toes. Thank you for hearing our prayers."

Prashant Shah has joined Benaroya Pictures as vp and head of physical production.

Shah has worked extensively in the UK and India and his credits include Ra.One and My Name Is Khan, which ranks as Bollywood’s highest grossing film.

“After seeing Shah’s great successes with a variety of international productions, we look forward to a continued track record of producing high-quality films,” said Benaroya.

“We will have a disciplined and cost-conscious approach to production management regardless of where we make the picture,” said Shah.

The Benaroya Pictures slate includes Brian Horiuchi’s Parts Per Billion. Sundance premiere Kill Your Darlings will open in the Us through Spc.

Us Weekly reports that Penn Badgley and Zoe Kravitz have split after almost two years together. The couple, who began dating in the Summer of 2011 and shared an apartment together in NYC, made their last public appearance at the Warm Bodies screening in NYC back in January. Rosario Dawson is yet another actress that has begun to work a lot, and then not always on the most convincing projects. This week, she’s been added to the cast of Atom Egoyan’s thriller-ish Queen Of The Night, playing an investigator opposite Ryan Reynolds.

Queen Of The Night has Reynolds starring as a man who comes to believe that his abducted daughter is still alive. He presumably will share this information with Dawson, who will initially not believe him but then come to realize that a man with abs like that must be right. And so, the chase is on!

I might sound facetious, but I feel facetious. I mean, I like Reynolds, but the plot as it stands sounds generic and predictable. I would love to see these two in a really dynamic film. Unless Egoyan has some interesting twists and clever cinematography up his sleeve for Queen Of The Night,...

The talented and beautiful Rosario Dawson has joined the cast of the psychological thriller Queen of the Night from acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan (Devil’s Knot).

Dawson has accepted a key role alongside the previously announced Scott Speedman, Mireille Enos and Ryan Reynolds who plays a father who discovers a series of disturbing clues eight years after his daughter is abducted, a trail that leads him to believe that the now 17-year-old girl remains alive, and he is determined to find her .

Dawson will be an investigator in charge of the case. Enos will play the Reynold character’s wife who checks in yearly with the police about her daughter, while Speedman will be a cop assigned to the case.

Egoyan also wrote the story and penned a missing-child thriller with David Fraser.

Queen of the Night will begin shooting next month in Ontario.

Gervais would play off of Modern Family Ty Burrell’s Interpol inspector in the Europe-set comedy. James Bobin, who helmed the previous Muppets film, is back to direct from a script he co-wrote with Nicholas Stoller.
