The X-Files Season 11 was a terrible misfire from Fox. The network has had trouble in creating a decent TV show of late. Fox is notoriously known for their cancelation of fan-favorite shows and instead greenlighting average to bad shows. As the network looks to rebuild its legacy, one show’s revival could be the saving grace for Fox in the television industry.
Kiefer Sutherland in a still from 24 | Fox Network
Kiefer Sutherland’s 24 ran for 9 seasons on the network followed by a short-lived spin-off series, 24: Legacy. Sutherland earlier shared the possibility of bringing back counter-terrorist federal agent Jack Bauer in a revival of the show. Fox could currently benefit from bringing back a critically acclaimed show like 24.

The fourth season of The Boys has already begun, but many fans of Eric Kripke's project are not satisfied. And we can understand them — a mix of bloody violence and harsh parody has been replaced by a kind of soap opera.
If you are one of the disappointed viewers, then these nine projects can serve as a perfect replacement for The Boys.
1. Doom Patrol, 2019-2023
Doom Patrol could be just another superhero show if it weren't for the characters who have no idea how to control their abilities. Former race car driver Cliff has to learn to live in a robot body, pilot Larry has to harness a being made of pure energy, movie star Rita has to struggle with maintaining a solid form of her body, and Jane has to deal with her 64 personalities.
They learn to be heroes and try to channel their powers to fight evil.

10. The Mist (2017)
Based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, the idea behind this show is something the author loves to do: isolating a small town from the rest of the world, throwing in a bunch of stress for its inhabitants, and seeing what they do about it. The Mist didn’t perform too well in Season 1, but it had the right idea and potential.
You can watch The Mist on Netflix, Apple TV, and Prime Video.
9. Watchmen (2019)
What does it mean to be a hero? Watchmen tries to answer this seemingly straightforward but ultimately convoluted question with its unique premise and approach. In a world where superheroes are real and treated and outlaws and the police wear masks hiding their faces, who can break the cycle of violence?
You can watch Watchmen on Max, Hulu, Apple TV, and Prime Video.

Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, long winter evenings by the window, filled with loneliness, a bucket of ice cream: who hasn't been there? This is what happens to fans of TV shows that end in the most interesting place.
You have just begun to feel for the characters, understand all the intricacies of the plot, recognize the theme song from the first seconds, when a merciless message arrives: the series is canceled. Fortunately, TV shows can't just disappear, so true fans continue to revisit the projects that gave us so many pleasant memories. But is it enough?

You know what the most important thing about a good TV show is? The ability to watch it from start to finish. And that doesn't always happen – just ask fans of The Santa Clarita Diet, The Great, or The Oa.
Sci-fi fans on Reddit have compiled their list of shows that were killed off too soon.
1.Firefly, 2002
In 2002, one of the biggest cancellations in television history occurred: Fox canceled Joss Whedon's Firefly. It's hard to describe the shock and anger of the fan community.
The fans of the series tried to contact the network executives who had made such an awful decision with all the means at their disposal: petitions, letters, phone calls, and pickets at the studio doors.
It's no wonder that more than twenty years later, Firefly remains the biggest wound in the hearts of sci-fi fans.

The Sons of Anarchy spinoff follows the titular M.C. based in the fictional California border town of Santo Padre. Bishop held leadership positions including former Presidente and Vice Presidente of the club’s Santo Padre Charter. The show is connected to Soa via the character of Marcus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera), Bishop’s cousin.

Apple TV+ has ordered a series adaptation of the William Gibson novel “Neuromancer,” Variety has learned.
The 10-episode series hails from co-creators Graham Roland and Jd Dillard. Roland will also serve as showrunner, while Dillard will direct the pilot. Skydance Television will co-produce with Anonymous Content.
Per the official logline, the series “will follow a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”
“We’re incredibly excited to be bringing this iconic property to Apple TV+,” said Roland and Dillard in a joint statement. “Since we became friends nearly ten years ago, we’ve looked for something to team up on, so this collaboration marks a dream come true. Most of the buzzed-about network dramas of the 1990s have been largely forgotten these days.
ER and NYPD Blue might have been the talk of the town during the Clinton years, but in the Biden age, they're seldom discussed outside of retrospectives about what the cast members are up to these days.
Interestingly, the network shows from that era that have loomed largest in the public's memory are the ones that might broadly be described as "supernatural mysteries."
We're talking about Twin Peaks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and, of course, The X-Files.
In fact, one could argue that no network drama from the past 30 years has proved as enduring and influential as the saga of Mulder and Scully.
The X-Files ran for nine seasons and inspired two feature films, a spinoff series (The Lone Gunmen), and a 2016 revival, with a second reboot rumored to be in the works courtesy of Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Tru Calling arrived on the small screen at a pivotal time for fans of genre fare in 2003.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer had just ended, so there was a desire from networks to get its most recognizable cast on new projects.
Eliza Dushku could have continued playing Buffy's onetime adversary in a planned spinoff, but instead of choosing the predictable, the actress opted to take a hard left turn to steer her career in a different direction.
The series starred Dushku as Tru Davies, a young woman who takes a job at a morgue when her internship falls through.
Yes, there's far more to the plot than that, with the unique spin that found the deceased waking up from the dead and asking her to help them.
That allowed Tru to relive the day to find out what happened to them and to try to change the events.
It was a compelling hook,...

In today’s movie landscape, its easy to get a sequel or remake greenlit, particularly in horror, but what about an original movie that is a heavy homage to an older title? This can give is something fresh and fun if done well. It has to have the right ingredients like the right actors on screen, the right script, and know exactly what it is and what it’s meant to accomplish. Indie director Joe Begos was the right guy to give us a wholly original genre flick that came out in 2019 to seemingly good reviews but little fanfare 4 years later. Joe Begos, writer/director of Christmas Bloody Christmas – which is now playing in theatres, and is also available to watch on the Shudder streaming service (you can read an 8/10 review from our own JimmyO Here) – is hoping to make two sequels to his holiday horror film. But before he gets to work on those sequels, if they do happen to get made, he’s going to wrap up a horror project he has been working on since the early days of the Covid pandemic lockdowns. An alien invasion horror movie that he stars in, because the alternative would have been to cast someone who was in the Screen Actors Guild, which would have added thousands to the budget.
Speaking with The Boo Crew podcast, Begos said (with thanks to Bloody Disgusting for the transcription), “I play a coked out filmmaker who is at the edge of his wits. Everybody around him has cut him off,...

I’ve been a fan of writer/director Joe Begos’ work ever since I saw his first feature, Almost Human, back in 2104 at Frightfest. My love of his work was cemented by The Mind’s Eye, Bliss and Vfw. One thing his films are known for are the various influences that 80s cinema has had on his work – from The Mind’s Eye being inspired by Scanners; Bliss feeling like the brethren of Near Dark by way of To Live or Die in LA… Begos’ films tend to take on different cinematic horror tropes, whilst harkening back to the 80s, in both style and substance.

The upcoming "Dune" prequel series from Legendary Television for HBO Max just added a ridiculously impressive name to their cast, with "Game of Thrones," "Obi-Wan Kenobi," and "Luther" actor Indira Varma joining "Dune: The Sisterhood." Varma has been cast to play Empress Natalya, a character described by the network as "a formidable royal who united thousands of worlds in her marriage to Emperor Corrino." The prequel is part of a number of "Dune"-related projects following the success of Denis Villeneuve's film adaptation, with a sequel (and maybe even a third film) arriving in addition to the series. Varma joins the previously announced cast of Emily Watson and Shirley Henderson as Valya and Tula Harkonnen, sisters who eventually become part of the Sisterhood of Rossak underground organization.
For those unfamiliar with Varma's work, she's best known for her performance as Ellaria Sand in "Game of Thrones." If the name...

Saturday night, the Human Rights Campaign (Hrc), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization, hosted its Greater New York Dinner.
Jessie J at Hrc Greater New York Dinner
The event featured speeches from Hrc’s interim president Joni Madison, who used her remarks to directly confront the right-wing anti-lgbtq+ misinformation campaign and called the current moment – when a slate of anti-lgbtq+ bills are passing in states across the country and misinformation is rampant— – an “emergency.”
“These lawmakers are simply pouring gasoline on a wildfire,” Human Rights Campaign Interim President Joni Madison said in her remarks of anti-lgbtq+ lawmakers. "They’re going on Fox News and reclaiming vintage hand-me-down hate — calling us predators and groomers. Marjorie Taylor Greene has called our community ‘pro-pedophile.’ But at the exact same time, one of her staunchest allies — Matt Gaetz — is under federal investigation for alleged sex crimes with a minor.

After the 2000s seemingly kickstarted a new wave of independent horror, the 2010s (and beyond) were an exceptional time for new and emerging, as well as established, filmmakers to leave their own mark on the landscape of genre storytelling. One of the most notable aspects, or even trends, that I noticed while doing research for this entire series of retrospectives is how out of all of the decades, it feels like the 2010s was one of the best times for female filmmakers to get the opportunity to take the helm in comparison to other decades. The 1980s had a handful of women directors working in independent horror, but during both the ’90s and ’00s, it felt like the industry as a whole had taken a few steps backwards in providing female filmmakers the opportunity to tell the stories they wanted to tell.
Thankfully, though, the door swung back open in...

Exclusive: Michael Ealy is set as a lead opposite Kristen Bell and Tom Riley in Netflix’s eight-episode limited series The Woman in the House, from Gloria Sanchez Productions. The series is expected to premiere in early 2022.
Created by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson and Larry Dorf, who also serve as co-showrunners, The Woman In The House centers around heartbroken Anna (Bell), for whom every day is the same. She sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her. But when a handsome neighbor (Riley) and his adorable daughter (Samsara Yett) move in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder… Or did she?
Ealy will play Douglas, Anna’s ex-husband. Bookish and pragmatic, he still has love for Anna but their past keeps them from imagining a future together.

In the last five years, documentaries about robots and AI seem to be everywhere. Some are about human vs. AI matches in the game of go, while others, about our addiction to algorithm-controlled social media, but what seems to connect all of them is the perennially unanswerable question “What makes us human?” Ann Shin’s newest documentary “A.rtificial I.mmortality” tackles the same topic from the perspective of memory.
“A.rtificial I.mmortality” is screening at San Diego Asian Film Festival
At its core, “A.rtificial I.mmortality” is a semi-autobiographical essay-like documentary – an event in the director’s immediate surroundings pushes her to learn more about AI and the preservation of memory with the intention of preserving her own memory for her two daughters’ sake. And in the process, she discovers something about the world and human nature.

Halsey‘s concept album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” dropped on August 27.
