James Gunn has made one of the best superhero movie trilogies with the Guardians of the Galaxy films. The director made audiences emotionally connect with a rag-tag team of misfits and made them charming and relatable. The filmmaker brought a satisfying conclusion to the arc of the team with 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Meanwhile, Eli Roth’s live-action adaptation of the beloved video game Borderlands has just released its teaser and poster. While it looks fun, audiences have negatively compared it to the style and vibe of Gunn’s Guardians films and called it derivative.

Laura Dern is playing coy as to whether her Jurassic Park character, Ellie Sattler, will show up in the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom movie.
Et's Lauren Zima caught up with the 50-year-old actress at the Los Angeles premiere of Downsizing, and noted that Jeff Goldblum had confirmed that he would be reprising his role as Malcolm in the film franchise -- so does that mean Dern may also be making a cameo?
"[It] could be fun," she teased. "I mean, I love Ellie Sattler."
Further praising her character from the 1993 movie, Dern added, "She's a tough feminist, come on! We need her back."
Universal Pictures
The Emmy winner is also expected to reprise her role as Renata Klein when HBO's Big Little Lies miniseries returns for a second season, but admits that she doesn't know for certain if her character will be coming back.

The first trailer for Ocean's 8 has finally dropped and it's already living up to the film franchise's legacy!
Like the movies that have come before it -- which boasted a star-studded cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts -- the heist film is full of one-liners and lots of glitz and glamour.
While Clooney's Ocean's films featured a crack team of dapper men, this flick showcases an all-female group of thieves that are led by the gorgeous and witty Sandra Bullock, who portrays Danny Ocean's relative, Debbie Ocean.
In addition to Bullock, the star-studded cast is comprised of Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina.
In the trailer, we see Debbie being released from prison and vowing to be an upstanding citizen. However, in the very next scene, she's scheming with Lou (Blanchett) about how to snag a $150 million necklace that is to be worn by...

With the two-episode season 4 finale of Z Nation airing tonight, fans don't have to wait to see if the living dead series will return, as it's officially been announced that the post-apocalyptic show has been renewed for a fifth season by Syfy.
The news of the Z Nation renewal was officially announced by executive producer David Michael Latt on Twitter and on the show's official Facebook page.
While a specific premiere date has not yet been announced, Z Nation has traditionally premiered in September and aired its finales in December over the past four seasons, so fans can expect a similar schedule for season 5 of the series.
The episode order for season 5 also has yet to be revealed, but with each of the first four seasons in the 13–15 episode range, it wouldn't be surprising to see the fifth season fall in that range of episodes.

The kids from It have some pretty genius ideas about which actors should be cast in the sequel.
Et caught up with some of the stars of director Andy Muschietti’s remake of the 1990 miniseries at a press junket for the movie's home entertainment release in Los Angeles on Thursday, where they revealed which celebrities they'd love to see portray their adult counterparts in It: Chapter 2.
Jeremy Ray Taylor, who plays the beloved Ben, says it would be awesome to see a certain Avengers star in the sequel, which will focus on the Losers' Club reuniting 30 years after their first encounter with Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård). Needless to say, we think it's perfect!
"Probably Chris Pratt," he exclaimed.

Seeing as his costar, Wyatt Oleff, worked alongside Pratt as young Peter Quill in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, this dream casting isn't too far fetched.

Meghan Markle's got a busy holiday ahead of her!
The former Suits star will be spending Christmas with her fiance, Prince Harry, and the royal family, at Queen Elizabeth II's country estate, Sandringham, Et previously reported -- and now we have a breakdown of all the holiday traditions Markle will experience for the first time.
"Firstly, it's important to stress that this is a completely new departure from Christmas with reference to the royal family. Normally, the protocol is pretty strict," royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams tells Et. "In the past, when Kate Middleton was engaged to William and also when Mike Tindall was engaged to Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Phillips, they didn’t, as [an] unmarried [couple], spend Christmas with the queen."
"Obviously Meghan’s parents are in the United States, but the main reason [Markle is invited] is clearly that it’s what Harry wished," he continues. "But I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it wasn’t...

The first two, jaw-dropping episodes of Vanderpump Rules are nothing compared to the rest of the season, according to Lisa Vanderpump.
Season six opened with a bang (no pun intended) when it was revealed that Jax Taylor cheated on longtime girlfriend Brittany Cartwright with her friend and former Sur co-worker, Faith Stowers. At first Jax denied Faith's claims, but by episode two he confessed to doing the deed.
“Trust me, I'm the producer on that show, and when I saw episode two, I'm thinking, 'This should be the finale,’” Lisa tells Et. “It's so explosive. It's like, how did we get there so quickly? We got there because Jax Taylor is driving that bus.”

The late Carrie Fisher and her co-star Mark Hamill served as mentors to the young actors following in their footsteps during the filming of Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi. As a new generation takes over the franchise, the original actors did their part to make the transition easy.

Sometimes, there’s no clear divide between good and evil. As Daisy Ridley’s Rey comes into her powers in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, she begins to question where her allegiance lies.
“From the start, Star Wars has always had the good guy confronting the extent to which the bad guy is a reflection of themselves,” writer-director Rian Johnson tells Us. “With Luke, he thinks Darth Vader is an evil guy who he has to kill.

I'm gonna get this dancing thing down A post shared by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on Dec 13, 2017 at 8:08pm Pst Ed Sheeran's songs seem to be the surprising go-to for dancers and choreographers this year. Earlier in the year, we were blessed with a succession of amazing dances to "Shape of You." Now, his number-one hit "Perfect," which he recently re-released with Beyoncé, is getting the same treatment thanks to a very familiar face: Justin Bieber. "I'm gonna get this dancing thing down", Justin captioned a video that shows him twirling across the dance floor to the emotional track. In another video, he's seen doing a roll to the song. Maybe the next time he breaks it down, girlfriend Selena Gomez can join in? A post shared by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on Dec 13, 2017 at 7:59pm Pst Here's hoping we'll get to see the whole performance at some point.

Be still, our '90s-loving hearts -- Joey, Matthew and Andrew Lawrence are returning to television!
It’s been 20 years since the short-lived sitcom Brotherly Love came to an end. But, in the current era of reboot and revivals, there may be some good news, courtesy of eldest brother Joey.
“We’re actually working on a TV show together for the first time in 15 years,” Joey tells Et. “We wanted to find a way not to redo Brotherly Love, but to bring us back together as grown men.”
While the show won’t revive the exact same characters, the three will be playing brothers once again. According to Joey, filming for the pilot begins in just a few days and will be formatted as a scripted, single-camera, half-hour comedy.
“It's edgy, which is different,” Joey says. “The dynamic and relationships that we have are not the late '90s, sitcom-like relationships.”

With the Star Wars franchise mining its back catalogue of iconic characters to build movies around, there are a few names fans expect to headline their own vehicles over the next few years. Obviously, Solo: A Star Wars Story is landing next May, while an Obi-Wan Kenobi film is on the way, too. And don’t forget that a recent report claimed that the Boba Fett solo project is back on.

Superstar celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger’s year can be summed up as a colorful one — and that’s not just because she’s become known for her love of choosing bold shades of the rainbow for her clients.
She kicked off the year in a big way when she dressed Meryl Streep for her awards show run, which garnered headlines not just for Streep’s elegant blue Elie Saab Oscars gown but also for the highly-publicized feud with Chanel before she wore it – and came out the other side stronger than before with a bigger list of stars on her styling roster than ever.

Stine's popular horror book series.
According to multiple sources, including The Tracking Board, the Goosebumps sequel, referred to right now only as Goosebumps 2, will be directed by Ari Sandel, the filmmaker who won an Oscar in 2007 for the short film West Bank Story. Sandel more recently directed the high school comedy The Duff and the time traveling romance When We First Met. He was also previously announced to helm the live action film adaptation of the Mattel toy line Monster High, perhaps making him a good fit to bring Stine's creepy...

Following the shocking events of The Walking Dead mid-season 8 finale, nothing will ever be the same on the AMC series, and a new preview video for the second half of this season promises that the last stand is just getting started.
The Walking Dead will return for the second half of its 16-episode eighth season on Sunday, February 25th at 9:00 pm Est. In the meantime, you can get a look at what's to come in the preview video below.
Season 8 synopsis: "Last season, Rick Grimes and his group of survivors were confronted with their deadliest challenge yet. With the comfort of Alexandria, they let their guard down, only to be reminded how brutal the world they live in can be.
Feeling powerless under Negan's rules and demands, Rick advocated the group play along. But seeing that Negan couldn't be reasoned with, Rick began rallying together other communities affected by the Saviors.

In the history of TV anchor pairings, Katie Couric and Matt Lauer stand out as one of the strongest — which makes her reaction to his bombshell firing even more poignant.
On Friday, Couric, 60, broke her silence on the news that NBC had fired the longtime Today host after receiving a “detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior,” with reason to believe “this may not have been an isolated incident.” Swiftly following his termination, women also anonymously accused Lauer, 59, of sexual harassment and assault in reports published by Variety and The New York Times.

I freakin' hate bullies. I was bullied all the time when I was growing up because I was short and into all the crazy cool geeky things that weren't as popular then as they are now. Hell, I still get bullied today! I guess that comes with the territory of running a geek blog.
Anyway, this weekend a heartbreaking video went viral of a young man named Keaton talking about how hard it is for him because of the bullying he has to endure at school. If you haven't seen the video, you can watch it below. It came with the following note from Keaton's mom:
For the record, Keaton asked to do this After he had he me pick him up Again because he was afraid to go to lunch. My kids are by no stretch perfect, & at home, he's as all boy as they come, but by all accounts he's good at school.

This season of Saturday Night Live has been far from a disaster, but could the star of The Disaster Artist save what's been an inconsistent season thus far? Despite James Franco's best efforts, the answer was no. Every episode has had its share of highlights, but digging through the misses has sometimes taken more effort than would be ideal. There's always something that works, but the show is still trying to pair this writing staff with this cast in a way that consistently highlights the strengths of both.

The North Carolina mountaintop that Scotty McCreery chose as the site for his recent marriage proposal turns out to have a special history for the couple — thanks to a misadventure that McCreery caused.
The “Five More Minutes” singer explains to People that he and fiancée Gabi Dugal often frequent the scenic spot, which is located near the famed Grandfather Mountain about 200 miles northwest of their hometown of Garner, a Raleigh suburb.
“We were looking for a waterfall about two or three years ago and I completely screwed up and got us lost,” McCreery, 24, recalls. “And I was like, well, the next trail map,...

As we head toward Avengers: Infinity War, which – as demonstrated by the trailer – is a giant culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe up to that point, the chief architect of the juggernaut franchise is understandably getting a lot of attention. While the McU is the product of the talents and skill-sets of thousands of dedicated craftspeople, the achievements of Kevin Feige in overseeing the film series, and steering it to over $13 billion in global box office receipts, cannot be ignored. For that reason, Vanity Fair recently conducted an in-depth interview with him.
Evidently, the interview was done well into the theatrical run of Justice League, at a point where the financial disappointment was becoming very clear. Unsurprisingly, then, Vanity Fair asked Feige – without specifics – if he had any advice for others who are perhaps “struggling to emulate” the success of the McU:

It looks like the role of Laurie Strode's granddaughter has been cast, giving Michael Myers multiple generations to haunt in the new Halloween movie.
According to The Tracking Board, actress Andi Matichak (Underground, Orange is the New Black) has been cast in one of the lead roles of the new Halloween movie, and it's presumed that she will play the granddaughter of Laurie Strode (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) and the daughter of Karen Strode (played by Judy Greer).

Surprise! Kilgrave is back from the dead. Well, sort of.
Entertainment Weekly has today unveiled a brand new photo from the upcoming second season of Marvel/Netflix’s Jessica Jones, in which Krysten Ritter’s whip-smart private eye stands alongside her long-time adversary, Kilgrave (David Tennant). Further details on the actor’s involvement haven’t been revealed just yet, but we imagine he’ll feature via flashbacks to Jessica’s tormented past. After all, Ritter’s reluctant hero did put an end to Kilgrave’s mind-bending reign of terror – exorcizing her own demons in the process – during the thrilling finale of Jessica Jones season 1.
Chalk that up as speculation for now, as like we said above, plot details are scarce at the moment. Still, if one thing’s for certain, it’s that given the fact that Kilgrave is arguably one of the better Marvel villains across screens both big and small,...

Robert Pattinson became a household name when he portrayed the brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga film franchise, but at what cost?
During a discussion with fellow actor Jamie Bell for Variety's "Actors on Actors," Pattinson admits that working on a wildly popular book-turned-movie series like Twilight can take a toll.
"When something becomes really big you really get an awareness of how small you are, like where it is when you first start acting and you feel like a big shot when you’re only doing something small. My ego was a lot bigger when I first started,” he says. “Then you start losing control of a lot of different aspects of your life and also the job, especially when you’re doing sequels to something. The mother-daughter duo swung by the Daily Mail‘s holiday party, where they were twinning in head-to-toe black ensembles.
Lindsay, 31, showed a bit of skin in a sheer top with beaded leaf patterns. She paired the eye-catching shirt with slim black legging pants, matching boots and a black bomber jacket.
Dina, meanwhile, kept her embellishments on her pants — rocking some slim-fitting bottoms with red and silver embroidery.

Mask of Thorn is a throwback to the classic 80 slashers from writer and director Mj Dixon, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Friday 19th January. I got chance to ask Mj a few questions about the continuing legacy of Thorn, his influences in horror and what else is coming in the ever expanding Mycho horror universe.
What can we expect from the film?
I guess it’s hard to say without giving too much away, but we usually try to take the classic slasher formula that the Mychoverse is built on and then turn it upside down and at least approach it from a very different angle. We’re not really interested in making the same film again and again, so it was important find a fresh way to tell the next part of the story. I guess the influences for the film were...

If you’ve also been traveling on “The Road So Far,” then you’d know Supernatural has introduced no shortage of memorable recurring characters over the course of its thirteen seasons. That said, you’d think one or two of them would be ripe for a spinoff, but, originally, The CW intended on going in a different direction.
Perhaps you’ll be able to recall the “Bloodlines” episode from season 9, which, if you’re unaware, was the network’s first attempt at a backdoor pilot. By that, we mean characters and concepts were introduced in the flagship series, with the intention of paying them off in the planned spinoff.
As it turned out, the experiment didn’t go over well with fans as it was more similar in tone to The Vampire Diaries instead of the series it was meant to complement. Not only that, but it violated rules already...

Christmas and martial arts movies? They rarely crossover. But amazing fights in the snow? Now we're in business...
I love martial arts movies and I love Christmas so I'm kinda sad that the two have never really come together (Kung Fu Panda Holiday doesn't count). I'd hoped to find at least one good example to write about, as we move into the festive period, but I guess since most martial arts films come from Buddhist countries and Christmas is a Christian holiday, I was destined for disappointment.
I did briefly consider making one up with the aid of Photoshop, but wasn't sure I could get away with it so, alas, The 25th Advent Chamber Of Shaolin is not to be. For what it's worth, I'd got as far as an apprentice monk named Ho, fighting his way through 25 'doors' of a giant temple designed to resemble an advent calendar.

Kristen Wiig may be about to strike comedy gold once again!
The Bridesmaids star talked to Et ahead of the premiere of Downsizing, her new film with Matt Damon, where she shared that she and writing partner Annie Mumolo -- who earned a Best Original Screenplay Oscar nomination for their unbelievably funny 2011 comedy -- are working together on a new project!
"My writing partner and I have been for a long time writing a script, and now we're [in] final rewrite stage, which is very exciting," the 44-year-old actress revealed. "It's called Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar."
Not to judge a movie by its title, but we are already one hundred percent in for this when it comes out.
In the meantime, Wiig is currently promoting Downsizing, a sci-fi dramedy about a couple that shrinks down (quite literally) to retreat from the stresses of modern life, which reunites her with The Martian co-star Damon.
