Ryan McCartan is heading back to Broadway!

The 31-year-old actor, who got his start in Hollywood on the Disney Channel show Liv & Maddie, will star as Jay Gatsby in the musical The Great Gatsby.

Ryan will replace original star Jeremy Jordan, who plays his final performance in the musical on January 19, 2025. This marks his return to Broadway after previously playing Fiyero in Wicked and Hans in Frozen.

The Great Gatsby will kick off the novel’s Centennial Celebration with a benefit performance on January 16 that will culminate with a party at The New York Public Library, with all proceeds benefiting The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

Ryan will begin performances in the show on January 21, 2025, starring alongside the show’s original Daisy actress Eva Noblezada. Tickets for the hit musical are currently on sale through September 7, 2025. Get yours now on Telecharge.com.

Jordan Fisher is the latest Broadway star to film a Hallmark movie and he hopes the trend will continue.

Hallmark Channel has featured many Broadway stars and the latest is Jordan Fisher, who recently starred in the holiday movie, The 5-Year Christmas Party.

The actor has previously starred in several Broadway shows, including Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen and his current role in Hadestown.

Meanwhile, Fisher’s experience in filming the new Countdown to Christmas 2024 movie has made him realize he would also love to continue being a Hallmark star.

John Peaslee, the writer and producer who worked alongside his longtime creative partner, Judd Pillot, on such sitcoms as Coach, Just Shoot Me!, According to Jim and Liv and Maddie, has died. He was 73.

Peaslee died Monday of natural causes at his home in Sherman Oaks, Pillot announced. The two had collaborated for 35 years.

“I will be forever thankful to the universe that I was with him for several hours that day, that I was able to hold his hand, recount all the stories — way too many to tell, but not nearly enough to fill the hole in my heart,” Pillot wrote on Instagram.

Peaslee and Pillot teamed on ABC’s Coach from 1989-93, on NBC’s Just Shoot Me! from 2002-03, on ABC’s According to Jim from 2005-09 and on Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie from 2013-17.

Exclusive: Premiere Entertainment Group (Peg), the L.A.-based production and sales company, has acquired worldwide rights to holiday rom-com film Love Unexpected, which will star Britt Robertson (The Longest Ride).

Production is set to start in December in the Greater Colorado Springs area.

Robertson will star as a popular social media influencer who visits her sister’s family for the holidays and takes it upon herself to save the Magical Christmas Parade with the help of her fans and an unexpected flame from the past.

Wendy Faraone (Saving Christmas Spirit) will be directing from an original screenplay by Disney’s Liv and Maddie creators John D. Beck and Ron Hart. Persephone Hawkins is producing for Pandora Persephone Films. Elias Axume serves as executive producer for Premiere Entertainment.

Following in the footsteps of On My Block, Netflix's lighthearted comedy mystery series Freeridge boasts an impressive and talented cast. As an entirely original spinoff, Freeridge includes a wealth of exciting new characters, making it a worthy addition to the expanding franchise. However, given the crossover between the projects, many viewers are eager to identify new as well as returning characters and how they may fit into the overarching story.

Freeridge shares the same creative team as its predecessor, with Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft working alongside Jamie Uyeshiro, and Jamie Dooner – all of whom previously collaborated on Netflix's hit On My Block. Like the original, Freeridge focuses on a group of school friends slowly unraveling a mystery. Netflix has added two series regulars to “Freeridge,” its spinoff of the recently concluded young adult series “On My Block.” Tenzing Norgay Trainor newly joins the cast, while “On My Block” star Peggy Blow appears in a new role, Variety has learned exclusively.

Named after the fictional Los Angeles neighborhood that “On My Block” takes place in, “Freeridge” follows a new crew of friends who may or may not have unleashed a deadly curse kicking off an unforgettable adventure.

In “On My Block,” Blow played Ruby’s (Jason Genao) grandmother Marisol Martinez, more often known as ‘Abuelita.’ She often acted as an accomplice to the teens’ various adventures in Freeridge. Her character in “Freeridge” is not yet known.

Trainor’s character is also not yet known. His credits include Netflix’s “Boo, Bitch” and Disney Channel’s “Liv and Maddie.”

The exact value of the transactions was not disclosed, but each is understood to be in the eight-figure range.

News, the Schmigadoon! star gave an update on The CW's live action Powerpuff Girls adaptation, which is currently being reworked. According to the 25-year-old actress, reshooting a pilot "is not abnormal whatsoever." As Dove detailed it, this isn't the first time that she's experienced a pilot being reworked. In fact, the actress highlighted how her Disney Channel hit, Liv and Maddie, was "an entirely different show" at first. From Warner Bros. Television, the new version of the beloved Cartoon Network series created by Craig McCracken follows heroines Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup as “disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?”

Chloe Bennet will play Blossom, Dove Cameron is Bubbles and Yana Perrault is Buttercup. Blossom is described as “a spunky, conscientious, Little-Miss-Perfect child who holds several advanced degrees. The Webber Studios pic follows Issac (Mitte), who meets a friendly waitress Cassi (Cameron) one night at a diner. The pair set out to commit a revenge murder together in the name of love.
