The idea for the movie started out as a joke between 2 coworkers, who were joking about all of the drug fueled animal attack movies being made in the wake of the success of Cocaine Bear (2023). After several minutes of naming movies as a joke, one said "Stoner Snake!" and an idea was born.
The character of Jeff Donohue, who says disparaging things about both Amityville Vibrator (2020), and its director Nathan Rumler, is played by Amityville Vibrator director Nathan Rumler.
The movie's host, Dr Boobenstein, appears in several other indie horror films including:
Faces of the Dead (2020)
Frightvision (2020)
Dr. Boobenstein's Thanksgoween Special! (2020)
Boobs, Blood, and Mayhem: Volume 1 (2021)
and one episode of Astro Space Hero.
Several of the characters are named after microbudget horror filmmakers whose work has helped inspire the director to make his own movies. The characters include: Carl Ittenbach (inspired by Olaf Ittenbach) Jeff Donohue (Inspired by Jeff Leroy and Sean Donohue) Andy Ritter (inspired by Andy Copp and Tim Ritter) Donald Polonia (Inspired by Donald Farmer and John and Mark Polonia) Addison Bonk (Inspired by Addison Binek and Ron Bonk) Joe Sheets (inspired by Joe Sherlock and Todd Sheets) and Officer Wascavage (inspired by Dave Wascavage)
The film was originally scripted with a Bollywood style dance number to end the movie. This was scrapped when casting in Battle Creek ended up being it's own nightmare without the added difficulty of trying to find people who could dance.
