In Molly Green and James Leffler’s “Forev,” a comedic ode to the decidedly poor decision-making skills of twentysomethings, Sophie (“Saturday Night Live”‘s Noël Wells) impulsively accepts the marriage proposal of her apartment neighbor, Los Angeles tech support jockey Pete (Matt Mider), and the pair then promptly head off on a six-hour drive to pick up Pete’s sister Jess (Amanda Bauer) from college. Drinking and musing ensues, and when Jess, fresh off a break-up, indulges in a one-night stand, things get weird for all. For ShockYa, Brent Simon recently had a chance to speak to Mider, about the film, honing his improvisational skills, his favorite mock-curse word and making out with 60-year-olds in commercial [ Read More ]

Sophia (Noël Wells) is the type of girl who drunkenly brings random guys home to her apartment with the naive hope that it will be the beginning of a beautiful long-term relationship. Her neighbor Pete (Matt Mider) is socially awkward computer support technician who works from home, therefore he rarely leaves his apartment, hence he is hopelessly single. Sophia and Pete are friendly neighbors who spontaneously find themselves engaged to be married. (Nope, she isn't even preggers!) They go on a road trip across the Southwest to pick up Pete's sister (Amanda Bauer) from college. Mayhem ensues, as the trip puts their [non]relationship to the test... Forev is a somewhat typical, yet smartly written, rom-com that quickly evolves into a quirky road movie which contemplates the meaning and significance of marriage in our modern world and whether or not dating (or sex, for that matter) should be a required precursor.

Los Angeles is known for being a town where it is hard to meet people and have meaningful interactions. Angelinos live in their cars and do not frequently use public transportation like other big cities such as New York and Chicago, further lessening the chance you will randomly catch someone’s eye across a crowded subway car. There is certainly a predominant bar and night life scene in La, but it is rare to walk away from those interactions with anything more than a random hook up. Forev gives audiences a glimpse into single life in Los Angeles for two 20-somethings looking to connect with someone, but not quite sure how. Pete (Matt Mider) is a mild mannered guy spending an evening in with a pizza and some TV, but his night is quickly interrupted when his neighbor Sophie (Noël Wells) crashes through his door in the throes of a very intense make out session. After...

The La Film Fest is coming to town -- kicking off this Thursday in Downtown La. To get you all psyched up, we've got an exclusive trailer and poster debut for you here at Twitch for one of the narrative competition films. Sophie and Pete are kind of friends, but mostly they're just neighbors. On their way to pick up Pete's sister Jess from her sorority house, a joke about getting married escalates and their car stalls out. Before they know it, they're engaged... and stranded in the middle of the...

The Los Angeles Film Festival has finally rolled out their full lineup for the upcoming summer fest, and it’s packed with a number of Sundance picks, the return of Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn, and everyone’s favorite film that hasn’t been released just yet, You’re Next. Basically, you should probably start making your schedule now, because this is easily one of Laff’s best lineups yet. The festival will open with Pedro Almodovar‘s I’m So Excited (Almodovar is a Los Angeles favorite, as he’s also served as guest artistic director for La’s other big festival, AFI Fest), close with Nat Faxon and Jim Rash‘s The Way, Way Back, and include special gala presentations in the middle of both Refn’s Only God Forgives and Ryan Coogler‘s Sundance winner Fruitvale Station (formerly known as Fruitvale). Didn’t think you could get a large portion of your awards...
