I am just going to start off by saying that my expectations shouldn't have been as high as they were. When I was in high school, Freddie Prinze Jr. Was a top billed celebrity that ruled the teen movies. I often times forget that people that were super famous when I was younger are no longer at the height of their career, and in many cases, hardly even known. So, when I saw this movie with Freddie Prinze Jr, I knew it was most likely lower budget due to me not hearing about, but I still thought it was going to be a worth while independent movie. And what I got was something that could be technically defined as a movie.

I'm not going to go too deep into the plot or anything like that. But, there really isn't anything to dive deep into. Freddie Prinze Jr has to navigate a surprise birthday party while his freshly dead mistress is stuffed into a storage container. From there, he is just manically roaming around the party trying to figure out who killed her, while hoping that no one finds the body. He never asks anyone any hard questions to try and trip them up to discover who killed her. He just keeps asking people what time they got to the party. Somehow they got Kevin Pollak to sign on to this movie, and they use him to periodically pop in to tell Freddie Prinze Jr that he doesn't like him. Freddie Prinze Jr, in turn, is constantly paranoid about who drove Kevin Pollak to the party, even though he gets that answer very early into the movie.

This was not the worst movie I have ever seen. I mean, it has Freddie Prinze Jr, Kevin Pollak and Monica Potter in it, so the acting is well enough to keep you entertained. But the plot itself just seems to ramble on a little. After the third time Freddie Prinze Jr asked someone how Kevin Pollak got to the party, I started spacing out. The ending was abrupt but ok. They tried to make it meaningful.

I'm not saying to not watch this movie. I am just saying that you really have to set those expectations lower, especially if you grew up in the "She's All That" era. This would have probably been a better play than movie.

A faux, joyous surprise Birthday Party reveals adultery and a dead mistress as an unexpected gift is the story of this Lifetime Movie Like film. The film stars Freddie Prinze Jr (Thomas), Monica Potter (Kristen), Gabrielle Haugh (Hannah), Tyler Lawrence Gray (Alex), Brielle Barbusca (Rose), Kevin Pollack (William). With a great cast like that you expect a really good film, but it goes to show you great actors can't produce with a poor script, and poor direction which is such a shame. Just when a scene in the film wasn't too bad, a bad scene that made you question and think to yourself, what were they thinking?? It's so so at best.

I usually like this type of suspenseful drama but this was by far one of the worst movies I have ever watched! I actually paid $4.99 to view it or I would have turned it off at the start. The acting is awful, the plot is ridiculous and the directing is even worse. I don't understand how anyone could have liked this. The premise being that a man's mistress comes to his home for his birthday. No one is home so he decides to do things with her out by the pool - what??? The storyline is completely ridiculous and the further you watch the worse it gets. Wh can't American producers make movies and show like the British.

What a disappointing film. Almost similar to the Alfred Hitchcock film, Rope, but unfortunately this is laden with cringe worthy acting, bad dialogue, and a jagged storyline. It's almost as if the film had moved along several minutes without informing the audience. There were major gaps and plot holes and it was just a mess. And I didn't realise until now what a bad actor Freddie Prinze Jnr is. Looking back on the films he's been in, he acts similar in most of his movies. That kind of deer in headlights look he always has. The killer isn't much of a surprise as there weren't many suspects in the first place. A massive let down.

It's a thriller suspense type movie with some dark comedy elements. Freddie Prinze Jr. Is the main character that gets in trouble and he tries to wiggle his way out of it.

The plot is very thin, nothing special but the dialogues are good. The writing is actually elevating this to a decent movie. The acting is solid especially from the veteran actors.

The budget isn't the highest, in terms of production it's nothing special, it's a one location movie happening in one fancy house but it's not like a higher budget was necessary for the story.

It's one of those movie where time flies watching it, the pacing is great. I was entertained. Not a movie you will remember 2 weeks later but nothing that will bore you.

Forget the pretentious reviewers and raters! For the average person who just wants to have fun watching a good movie, this should be on the list of movies to watch. This is a very entertaining movie. Is it going to win an Oscar? Absolutely NOT! It's a comedy / drama / thriller / cat and mouse...all in one. It's a multi-genre movie that's a bit tongue - in - cheek, but absolutely worth the watch! There's the set-up, the plot, some hilarity thrown in there... I found it to be one of the more entertaining movies I've seen recently. Not the best!!! But it's actually good! I'm going to recommend it to some of my movie buff friends. There's a little bit of everything for ALL movie lovers. This would definitely be a fun date movie for both guys and gals from teens to mature adults. I loved it!

Starts weak but makes more sense later.

Should have been a comedy then it would make more sense.

A man is having a midlife crisis , and having an affair. He finds a girl in a pool and tries to hide her body before his family finds out....

Film would be ok if it was an outright comedy like horrible bosses or something that style.

As a serious film it failed in my opinion.

The main characters friends talk in a very odd way , none of them makes sense and none are normal people. Therefore should be a comedy with so much going on in the background.

Whoever wrote a dialogues for this please find a different job. No human being talks like that ....like ever. If you write a dialogue try and make sense out of your characters behaviour (like their friends should be fitting the main characters personality.... please remember not everyone is on drugs whilst watching films.

So... Freddie Jnr looks like an old scrotem who still hasn't found a good acting school. Monica Portter left acting for a reason. Her hair extensions were almost it's own bad character. So the story. Wow wee what a total waste of time. Poor acting, lame script. Kevin Pollock whom I normally enjoy was just uninvolved in the story. 2demrional characters whom I just don't care about in the first 30 minutes and I still had another 60 minutes to go. And so I persued and boy oh boy ...do it deliver on boredom. I honestly don't know how I survived to the end. End of the day id rather drink pool water than this garbage.

The movie itself wasn't that good but it wasn't horrible. What I find funny is all the reviews about how Prinze and Potter look old. I bet all of the people commenting on how Freddie looks 100 and has grey hair and what's wrong with Potters face, are all young beautiful models. Unfortunately for us humans we age and die. I'm sure these commenters are horrendous looking themselves and are just very jealous that they never looked like Freddie Prinze or Monica Potter at any point of their lives. All you idiots need to grow up and look at yourselves, cause I doubt that anyone would put your ugly ass on camera.

Freddie and I are the same age. Why does he look 100? Perhaps he's still dealing with all the crap that happened in his little seaside town.

I can't really understand the plot of this film. But there's Kevin Pollak to add some levity, so that's good, right?

I'm sitting here counting all of the white hairs on Freddie's chinny chin chin and I think, They can't bring the third I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER film soon enough. We need Ray and Julie to get hot and heavy -- ASAP!

Where's Jennifer Love Hewitt when you need her? She could've advised Mr Prinze to throw this script in the bin and wait for I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST WINTER.

Okay let's just start by saying, I knew this wouldn't be great, but I still love me some under budget movies.

Within the first 15 minutes of this...piece of work? I was already convinced it was going to be bad. Strictly based on the story line that Kevin Pollak (66) is apparently supposed to be Monica Potters father... She's 53, AND she actually looks older than him in most scenes... Him and Freddy look like they could be the same age at best... but this is the father in law? Okay...

Also, when did Freddy become so irrelevant? I guess I hadn't noticed because it's been that long since he's been in anything besides scooby-doo.

Better casting, better writing, this could have been a cheesy thriller/horror , at best. I was even underwhelmed by the ending. Next 👋

...but goes awry halfway.

Although Freddy Prince's performance is solid, Kevin Pollack's participation is merely testimonial, which is kind of a let down, as Monica Potter (what happened to her face?) just cannot bear the weight of improving the movie. Truth be told, all the parts were not much to begin with...

The idea is good, but it develops really bad and ends very poorly.

I must admit that I did not see it coming (good twist), but the way the story is told makes You wonder if the people (director, screenplayer and writer) knew what they were doing, because NOW I understand that their intention was to make viewers connect dots in the Guy Ritchie style (all stories and characters end up connected somehow). They fail strepitously!

The ending is bland, at best, and the feeling is that I gave away 90 minutes for nothing.

But it's not good either.

I managed to get thru an hour before I got frustrated and tried to find spoilers (thank you to the other reviews who did spoil it!!!).

This is a hot mess of a movie ... so many secrets and yelling and seemingly unfinished scenes, and good lord who drove Kevin Pollack to the mother freaking party?! 🤣 Part of the ending made me chuckle and it probably shouldn't have, but it was so out of left field. The full ending itself was out of left field.

I loved Monica Potter's character, the sour sarcasm of her was well acted.

FPJ's friends were a pain in the butt and there was a lot going on for there to be so few people.

There was zero background into any of these characters, the mistress was an idiot (who Ubers DIRECTLY to their side piece's house?!), and a lot of the back and forth in time was unnecessary (during the party).

I definitely wouldn't watch it again and I feel like I need to watch some 90s FPJ movies.

When I saw the trailer I knew this movie was going to be fast paced and full of suspense, dread and mystery so I rented it and I am so glad I did.

The trailer made the movie seem to obvious such as we already know what happend and probably what's going to happen so why bother?

However, that wasn't the case at all. As soon as the movie came on and it didn't begin where I assumed it would, I thought to myself, that's smart.

The twist comes towards the beginning and it's only a twist if you've seen the trailer.

What I enjoyed about it the most and why I gave it 9 starts out of 10 is because of the suspense watching him trying not to get caught with a dead body and guests all over the premises.

He can't focus on his birthday which adds another layer to the uncomfortableness (in a good way) we feel for his character because everyone can see something's not right with him and he knows this but he can't snap out of his sense of dread of being caught.

He's constantly going around trying to prevent guests from finding the dead body. He suspects that someone might already know what happened so it makes everyone look suspicious.

I figured out what the second twist would be but I definitely didn't have any evidence to prove it, I just know movies.

But I wasn't disappointed because technically it wasn't obvious and the way everything transpired towards the end isn't what I was expecting.

I felt like I was watching something really different from all the other movies that was exciting with a knot in your stomach.

Now, why I didn't give it 10 stars is because of the ridiculously stupid things that the characters did that we're so unbelievable.

This isn't a spoiler but why are you having an affair in the daylight on your property that you share with your wife and kids? One of whom you were expecting home soon. Anyone could have saw them.

There are some other things too that made me go, really? That's so stupid but hey maybe some people really do behave this way in real life. Actually I'm quite sure they do but it's different watching it in a movie.

But other than the stupid choices that were made, the whole movie was fast paced, exciting, dreadful (in a good way), suspenseful, dramatic and full of mystery which was a pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting going into it.

Also, I don't like to say this because I like Freddie Prinze Jr but his acting is a bit off. I mean he can act and I totally believed him but the sound of his voice doesn't match the look on his face. It sounds almost corny. Y'all remember that line from "I know what you did last summer" right? His character said "I got a letter!".

It was so awkward the way his voice sounded and yeah it's like that throughout this movie too.

But it was fine because I like him and I know that's just how his voice sounds. He definitely made me feel for what he was going through. He had that dread look on point.

The father in law was a funny surprise. His personality made things more fun.

So, just know these characters do very stupid things especially the main one but if you can overlook that and just get into the movie from the main character's perspective then you'll have a really good time like I did.

This is my first review here. I watch a lot of movies and especially like smaller films. I saw this and thought I'd give it a try. It was billed as a drama suspense movie, but I found it rather entertaining in a dark comedy kind of way. Freddie Prinze Jr.'s character, Thomas, finds his mistress dead in his backyard pool. Not knowing how it happened, he stuffs her corpse in a storage container. Hours later, his wife throws him a surprise birthday party. Tom attempts to put on a happy face but fails miserably. I liked that this movie wasn't too long and never found myself bored. There were a couple of parts that I found hard to believe, but it didn't matter to me because I never took the film too seriously.

This was actually a really good suspenseful thriller. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie. Watching the trailer you got exactly what you saw with a little twist at the end. I do agree the end felt rushed and I had a few unanswered questions. The coworkers were annoying as well but other than that the three vets killed it in these roles. They were very believable and I loved the way Monica Potter spoke and was in charge. This was a great little warm up for Freddie's return for IKWYDLS. I loved this film and thought it was something different. You couldn't predict what was going to happen next which I loved. My only real dislike was the end felt rushed they could've made it an extra 10 mins to answer some of the questions I still have.

Clearly, this movie was not intended to be a five star movie that was going to win an Oscar, it's just a good fun, psychological thriller. The only reason I'm giving this movie a seven and not a four, is because I personally like Freddie Prinze Junior. He is a super nice guy, but the acting was not so great. In fact, the acting was bad by everybody, except for their son, and may be a little bit by the daughter and Monica Potter and Kevin Pollak. I think it would've been better with just brand new actors who were actually good.

I really like the cinematography, so the whole look of the movie was perfect.

Whoever wrote this movie just did not do a great job. You had me up until like 75% through and then the last 25% was just unusual, and not unusual in a great way. It just seem like the boss said hurry up and finish an ending, and this is what they came up with.

Maybe the acting would've been better if they would've been given a better script.

Freddie Prinze Junior just doesn't quite have the acting down, and it needs to be a little bit more natural, but in his defense, these type of lifetime movies don't usually have primo acting. It's almost like a soap opera mixed with a suspense thriller. Kind of like back in the 1940s and 1950s when they had to do everything over the top. So I don't know who to blame the actors or the script

But at the end of the day I could watch movies like this all the time, because they're entertaining, and I like the thriller aspect of it, it was kind of juicy, but a little bit light on the acting in the plot, but otherwise, really enjoyable. That guy who played the son, perhaps has a future.

People need to be a little bit more relaxed, the over the top acting just doesn't seem authentic.
