Goofs

Season 9, episode 2. When the kids drink (or eat) sodas at the soda fountain, the amount of drink in the glasses changes from camera angle to camera angle. The red soda when Mei Sou (Amanda Wong) has it has a lot of foam; in the next camera angle, the foam is gone when she hands it to Angela (Vienna Leacock)

The town water tank has no pipes leading to it, which may explain why Abigail's Cafe requires a hand pump in the kitchen. Additionally, there are many references to telegrams coming into or sent from the town, and there are electric lights everywhere, yet there are no telegraph poles anywhere in the town.

Season 6 sees the installation of the telephone to various locales throughout the town. However, there are no telephone poles seen anywhere in Hope Valley.

I notice the the strap offering support to the gun belt worn by the Royal North West Mounted Police as portrayed on this show, changes sides. From what I understand, it should offer support on the side the sidearm is worn by an officer. The alternate to this is seems to offer support to a ceremonial sword worn by a higher ranking officer.

I have noticed that the strap is incorrectly worn both ways by the character Jack Thornton.

A common theme throughout Jack and Elizabeth's relationship is "Love is patient, love is kind" from 1 Corinthians 13. But with the series set in the early 1900s, the only English version of the Bible available at the time was the King James version which says "Charity suffereth long and is kind". The NIV version is what says "love is patient, love is kind" and wasn't published until 1973.

Correction: The American Revised Standard was published in 1900. It was widely viewed as a "modern" edition of the Bible and many young, educated people like Jack and Elizabeth embraced it. It would have been available even in the wilds of Canada through various booksellers' catalogs and religious societies. Its I Coinrthians 13 reads, "Love is patient, love is kind..." So this is not an anachronism at all.

In several of the series stories, there are references to men's wedding rings. Men started wearing wedding rings during WWI as a means of remembering their loved ones, so the references in the series is possible for the time frame of 1910-1915 (seasons 1-5)

Women often are wearing low-cut blouses, sleeveless dresses, and calf-length dresses which would have been quite scandalous in the early 1910's.

In the earlier part of the series, the clothing, technology, and buildings appear to be more from the 1870s, with the general theme being that of a town on the western frontier rather than a more modern town of the early twentieth century.
