Never posted a review here before and this is more a response to another negative review. If you are expecting a two-hour movie this is not it. But if you want to view a meaningful, well-produced Christmas event, this works very well.
To those who have seen the previous Chosen Christmas specials, maybe this will disappoint because there is (mostly) material that has been shown before in one form or another, but apart from that, the music, the messages and the drama are all excellent and seemed Spirit-filled to me.
Since the choice of Amanda Jenkins as one of the speakers was criticized by another reviewer let me counter that by saying I thought she hit a home run. Her content and delivery was perfect.
In a sea of near endless garbage and darkness that flashes across movie screens, it is great to see something filled with so much goodness.

Music is so uplifting . After losing my mom I needed to hear joy. This filled me. This gave me hope. I didn't expect anything more than to feel again for at least a while. And I did. This is spiritual. This is religious. And it is warming and wonderful. I feel sad for those who were expecting a traditional form of storytelling and felt the need to write mean things. I was told by so many this would sooth me and that's exactly what it did. The voices are just wonderful. If you need some calm this season - or any time- and you just need to feel connected to something bigger than you this will do it.
I've been reading other reviews from people who obviously didn't listen to the creators talking about the event. It's two short films with a collection of Christmas music event. It's not a "film". It's a Christmas presentation based on the wildly successful series, The Chosen.
Of course there are previews of Season 4 and of course they're going to try and raise some money to stick it to Hollywood. People got to get paid to feed their families. The first 3 seasons were free!
I can't believe people saying they walked out in the middle of scenes and songs that brought me to tears. Maybe they should watch some Hollywood garbage instead of something so pure and full of Love.
Want Hollywood? Pay them. Want good Christ in Christmas entertainment? See this event and bring an unchurched friend. Or two!

This is a Fathom event and very well done. The movie itself is less than an hour. A highlight are the seven orchestras and bands performing Christmas music! Well know artists perform including Andrea and Matteo Bocelli singing "Oh Holy Night". Utterly incredibly beautiful! The Christmas story is tokd through the eyes of Mar the mother of Jesus and poor and humbled shepherds. Another feature are the two monologues that explain the reason and details of making this Christmas movie; it is a completely edited and remastered and restored rendition of The Messengers and The Shepherd. Christmas with The Chosen: Holy Night truly offers an enriching Christmas experience that will bless you!

It was exactly what I expected based in the description and my wife and I enjoyed it immensely.
Be prepared for a modern church service with uplifting music, information about what's happening within the 'church' (Angel Studios), a sermon, mini-movie and closing music.
For those who didn't understand that going into the theater, it's unfortunate some of you left before the mini production of Joseph and Mary's trip to Bethlehem and search for a place to stay as well as the Shepherd's story.
If you have a chance, it is well worth your time, just understand what you are going to see and sit back and let it soak in.

The wonderful truth about this movie is it's focus on what Christmas is all about...the birth of the Christ child. The night sky effects where the shepherds were mesmerized watching the host of Angels knowing that something miraculous was taking place for all humanity to praise throughout all generations for the common folks and people of all classes and backgrounds is what is so humbling and fulfilling. This miraculous birth took place in common surroundings and not in a five star hotel is what was so beautifully portrayed here. The message is clear that Christ, the savior was born for all men as the three powerful kings came to a humble area to behold the Christ child...King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
I loved the Chosen Christmas Special last year but this year there was little new. The intro by director Dallas Jenkins, the Bocelli performance, Season 4 trailer, monologue by Amanda Jenkins, and flash forward with Mary M and Mary (Jesus mother) was new, but almost everything else was a repeat from last years special including the musician performances (other than Bocelli). . Why was the monologue done by Amanda (directors wife)? Why not a recognizable and much loved cast member? I wasn't particularly wowed by viewing on the big theatre screen either. It would play just as nicely on home theatre TV's. Sorry but this performance just didn't do it for me.

Christmas With The Chosen will instantly become a new Christmas Classic! I personally cut to the chase and fast forwarded to watch The Shepherd and The Messanger movies interwoven. It was SEAMLESS & INSPIRING. It had it all; past, present & future. All of Dallas Jenkins projects related to this The Chosen effort have been truly divinely inspired. You can literally see and feel it. Goosebumps galore! 👏🏿👊
So glad it was on Amazon Prime so I could get directly to the movie. 😀 Even though I'm a liturgical musician I wasn't interested in the co-mingling of the genres in this instance. There's a time and place to play holiday music but this is not one. I rated 9 out of 10 for that very reason. Fast Forward first 28 minutes and go back and listen at another time.

Look at the crop it grows episode after season and a growing series. No man knows Jesus day by day for his 33ish years on this Earth. So the Chosen has done the best to keep fans interested as well as honor the Bible. People paid to make the show and seasons later It is profitable and fights challenges to be made. But overcomes them. Bless them and I'm a fan and think fans are in Heaven, maybe help at times. I can't answer for sure here but I can one day I'm there. Hope to see you the reader there to. Watch the show, even if you disagree. Look it up, the #1 book in the world is where to look. God bless you in your search. Please don't wait to long. For Jesus returns and the pathway for Eternal Judgement begins.

"A young mother labeled impure. A shepherd boy considered "unclean". A never-before-seen performance from Andrea Bocelli highlights seven music performances and two beautiful new monologues."
I don't get all the review-bombing here considering all the features were spelled out in the tag-line.
Overall, I really enjoyed the films and the musical performances. Even the speaking/monologues were great. I felt they provided great natural breaks to the film that added a different pacing that I really enjoyed.
The messenger has such a unique feel given that it is a short film from years before the show's release. If I didn't know Shepherd & Messengers were separate films, I never would have noticed given how perfectly the two are woven together here. I found it to be an amazing and accurate portrayal on the Christmas story without feeling like an under budget rendition of the virgin birth.

The intro was the director and wife who ended their annoying dialogue with a nod to a QR code for special deals to be found on an on line store.
Then, the director gave a long over explanation about the film that seemed almost apologetic.
Next, his wife provided an equally long, casual sermon connected to the birth of Christ in the most confusing, round about way.
A slew of Christmas carol and Worship music videos were then delivered in every genre found on the radio. All good, but weirdly inserted. Starting with a Southern rock style version of, 'Go Tell It On the Mountain."
The musicians were all very good, but after 45 minutes it was hard to enjoy the music with distracted thoughts of mine wondering when will the film begin.
I left after the third video to pick up my vehicle, it was being serviced nearby, and walked back in at the start of the actual film!
Great acting, but far too short. It was choppy with an abrupt and disjointed end - more like a series of movie trailers.
The Boccellis followed-beautiful. Would have made a good ending, but..,,,No! Another quasi sermon !
Not to be outdone, more music videos, including a Kennedy Center like stage pile up sing along of all the musicians . One or two more music videos followed before the credits rolled.
That rendition of a traditional Christmas carol was remarkable!
All in all, should have been left as a series with a Christmas music special of songs inspired by and from the series.

I don't frequent the movie theatre and I hadn't been for years. The last film I saw in the theater was the mule and one of the return of the jedi movies. I have to say I could not have been more disappointed with this film, if you can call it that.
My girlfriend/fiancee died last month and I have been trying to connect with religion and I thought I would take our 6 year old daughter for an uplifting experience in all this sadness.
Should have picked something else because we ended up sleeping through a good portion of it, it was so long on blabbing and so light on substance that we couldn't have been any more disappointed.

Took my dad to see this tonight. Movie started at 6:30 pm with the typical 20 minutes of previews. First up, a recap of The Chosen series, then two more movie trailers, then three music videos, then a recap of the first three days of creation, followed by two more music videos, followed by us leaving the theater. I made the mistake of not reading the previews before going to see it. I was hoping for a nice Christmas story and instead felt like bible camp. Some other reviews said that the movie wasn't even an hour long. I mean, we know how it ends but we could have done without the music videos and bible lesson.

Please, dont waste your time on this horrible movie. This is arguably the worst movie i have ever seen in my life. This was an absolute waste of money and of my time. The people just yap away and the music is the same as last year. The theater i was at sold 6 tickets. This is a waste of money and i feel bad for those of you who had to learn that by paying for ut. Take this as a warning. Beware of this movie and do not watch this. We need to stop supporting trash like this and get movies that are actually etertaining as opposed to this thrown together hunk of garbage. This movie absolutely sucked.

I thought the short film was okay, although the accents are cringe worthy considering the characters are speaking English. If the show/series is in English, just speak standard English sans exaggerated accents, as opposed to English with some supposed Hebrew or Aramaic accent.
The short film on the Christmas story, and the music video by Andrea and Matteo Boccelli were well-acted and the Boccelli and Maher performances were good. Other than that, this is just a waste of time: Dallas Jenkins is pushing season 4, which apparently can only be viewed in theaters and then his wife gives a long sermon on the bank of the Jordan River. In between all of this, there are continuous promos and music videos.
It just was not a true movie.
