I don’t think anybody can pull off an eccentric, dramatic ensemble quite like Cara Delevingne. Consider her latest appearance at the 2024 Vogue World, where she was chosen to host the event.
The 31-year-old model adopted various fashion trends, including the jellyfish trend, Madonna’s conical bra, elf shoes, and the sailor trend. Even though there appeared to be a lot going on in one ensemble, Delevingne, one of the most sought-after models today, still looked effortlessly put together.

2024 Vogue World: A Glitzy Marriage Between French Fashion and Sports
The 2024 Vogue World: Paris, held at Place Vendome, celebrated the longstanding connection between fashion and sports, which dates back to the 1920s. It brought together 188 athletes, 151 models, 70 dancers, and a 40-piece orchestra for a night of glitz and glamour.

Hulu has found a new lead actress for its limited series about Amanda Knox.
Grace Van Patten (Hulu’s Tell Me Lies) will play Knox in the drama. She steps in for Margaret Qualley, who was set to star and executive produce but had to depart due to scheduling conflicts.
Knox is among the executive producers of the untitled series, which Hulu ordered in March from writer and showrunner Kj Steinberg (This Is Us). The eight-episode limited series will add to an already extensive list of filmed material about Knox’s story. She was the subject of or inspiration for a 2011 Lifetime movie that played fast and loose with the facts of the case,...

Like the protagonist of his latest film, The Wedding Guest, Michael Winterbottom is a wanderer–cinematically, that is. There are few filmmakers in modern cinema who hop between genres quite like the British helmer. Consider just a few entries from his gobsmackingly lengthy filmography: a Thomas Hardy adaptation (Jude); a war film set in 1990s Sarajevo (Welcome to Sarajevo); a second Hardy adaptation shot in snowy Canada (The Claim); a future-set love story (Code 46); a sexually-explicit anthology centered around songs from the likes of Primal Scream and Franz Ferdinand (9 Songs); a documentary based on the work of Naomi Klein and another featuring Russell Brand (The Shock Doctrine and The Emperor’s New Clothes); and a tremendously violent and unsettling Jim Thompson adaptation (The Killer Inside Me).
That list does not even include his greatest works–24 Hour Party People, A Mighty Heart, The Trip, and its follow-ups. The Wedding Guest is,...

Exclusive: Steve Coogan and David Mitchell are set to star in Michael Winterbottom’s (The Wedding Guest) untitled satirical movie about the super-rich, I can reveal.
Sony Pictures International Productions and Film4 are behind the movie, which is gearing up for a fall shoot. Melissa Parmenter (The Face Of An Angel) is producing for Revolution Films with The Iron Lady producer Damian Jones of DJ Films. The project was previously known as Greed but that is no longer the title, I understand.
The story is a satirical take on the world of the super-rich with Alan Partridge and Philomena star Coogan set to play a ruthless, perma-tanned and self-absorbed retail clothing billionaire. Actor and writer Mitchell (Peep Show) is due to play a mild-mannered journalist hired by Coogan’s character to chronicle his life story. Additional casting is under way.

Cara Delevingne acted like a real animal to get the role of interplanetary special-ops agent Laureline in Luc Besson’s eye-candy spectacular Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
If you’re expecting a story about a spoiled model-turned-actor throwing a tantrum to get a super-fun part in one of the summer’s biggest sci-fi films, you’re going to be disappointed. But the real story’s pretty good too.
It’s about Delevingne’s unconventional audition with the visionary French director Besson (Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element), who was finally set to make a big-screen version of his favourite childhood comic book, Valérian and Laureline, by French writer Pierre Christin.

★★★☆☆ Michael Winterbottom's latest feature, The Face of an Angel (2014), explores the intersection of beauty, youth, sex and violent crime. Inspired by Amanda Knox's alleged murder of British student Meredith Kercher in Italy, Winterbottom offers a perceptive, but at times plodding, take on the media's sensationalised coverage of her trial. Thomas Lang (Daniel Bruhl) arrives in Italy to research and write his next film. He meets Simone Ford (Kate Beckinsale), a journalist who been following the trial of American student Jessica Fuller, imprisoned for the murder of her flatmate Elizabeth Pryce (Sai Bennett). Thomas hopes to adapt Simone's book on the case. "Make it fiction," she urges him.

She’s become one of the most recognizable faces in the U.K. as a supermodel and, more recently, as an actress, thanks to appearances in Anna Karenina, The Face of an Angel and this summer's Paper Towns, alongside upcoming roles in Suicide Squad and Pan. But thankfully it seems rising multi-hyphenate Cara Delevingne still isn’t concerned about speaking her mind, even if it concerns arguably her biggest film to date. “There are only three girls in [Suicide Squad] but in my opinion they have the best roles,” she said in an interview with the U.K.'s Empire

The Colin Trevorrow feature Jurassic World continued to hold strong in its second weekend, bringing in $102 million to retain the top spot at the box office. Jurassic World‘s total earnings to date also brought it to second place among the highest grossing films of the year, ahead of Furious 7 and just behind Avengers: Age of Ultron. The Chris Pratt-starring feature managed to hold off the newest Pixar film Inside Out, which earned $91.1 million in its opening weekend, ending up in second place. The box office totals saw a steep drop-off from that point, as the Melissa McCarthy-starring Spy‘s $10.5 million total was enough to land it in third place.
Inside Out wasn’t the only new film to land a spot on the box office chart, as Rick Famuyiwa’s newest film Dope landed in fifth place with a $6 million total, behind the earthquake film San Andreas,...

“You can’t tell the truth unless you make it a fiction,” says journalist Simone Ford (Kate Beckinsale) to filmmaker Thomas Lang (Daniel Bruhl) in Michael Winterbottom’s The Face of An Angel. Since the film itself is a fictionalized re-telling of the events surrounding the Amanda Knox murder trial, we can presume that she’s talking both to the character onscreen and to the audience – trying to justify the movie we’re watching as a necessary re-imagining of a real incident about which many people have strong feelings. The rough outline of the events presented in the film is superficially similar to the 2007 Knox case, which captured the world’s headlines for a few years: A young American student and her Italian boyfriend are accused of brutally killing her flatmate, with a confusing soup of evidence – much of it circumstantial, little of it forensic – gathered by incompetent cops. Cara Delevingne has spoken about being "so happy" at the moment, putting it down to her relationship with musician St Vincent, real name Annie Clark.
The model and actress also chatted to Vogue about coming to terms with being attracted to women.
"Being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I'm feeling so happy with who I am these days," she said. "And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle."

She added: "Women are what completely inspire me, and they have also been my downfall. I have only been hurt by women, my mother first of all."

With a premise based on the salacious murder trial of Amanda Knox, the most curious aspect of Michael Winterbottom's "The Face Of An Angel" is that it's not about the case at all. Instead, the filmmaker takes a self-indulgent approach reorienting the project to tell the story of a director researching and writing a movie about the sensational crime and who promptly begins to spiral out of control the more he keeps digging for the truth. A mismatch of genres, coupled with a pretentious attitude regarding the art of moviemaking, this film strains for significance, referencing Dante in the same breath as Knox. "If you're gonna make a movie, make it a fiction. You cannot tell the truth unless you make it a fiction," Daniel Bruhl's washed up filmmaker Thomas is advised early in the picture. Tasked by a British production company to make a movie about the Knox case,...

This review was originally published during our coverage of the 2015 Leeds Film Festival.
The Face of an Angel sets its sights on the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, still an open wound in the public consciousness. We instinctively crave digestible narratives of heroes, villains and victims: characters that these events refuse to provide. Villains become victims, heroes become villains and, after years of analysis, evidence and testimony, we’re no closer to knowing what really happened in that Perugia flat than we were the day after it happened.
Winterbottom chooses to approach the case through meta-narrative by creating Thomas (Daniel Brühl), an analogue for himself who recognizes the fertile soil of a high profile murder in Siena and explores how he could transform it into worthwhile cinema. Early on the character receives some advice that’s essentially the film’s manifesto: “If you’re going to make a movie, make it a fiction.

Director Michael Winterbottom may be the only person on earth uninterested in who killed Meredith Kercher in Italy in 2007. Was it Amanda Knox, who confessed under duress, recanted, then was convicted, acquitted, convicted and acquitted at last? Or was the killer actually chronic knife-wielding housebreaker Rudy Guede, who confessed, and whose DNA (unlike Knox’s) was all over Kercher’s body and bedroom? Don’t ask Winterbottom. While his film “The Face of an Angel” loosely adapts the bible of the Knox-Did-It fact-ion, Barbie Latza Nadeau’s “Angel Face,” he won’t assess the evidence, the victims, the accused or the legal process.

Cinema Retro has received the following press release:'
The History Press is delighted to announce that it will be publishing Some Kind of Hero this October.
For over 50 years, Albert R. Broccoli’s Eon Productions has navigated the ups and downs of the volatile British film industry, enduring both critical wrath and acclaim in equal measure for its now legendary James Bond series. Latterly, this family-run business has been crowned with box office gold and recognised by motion picture academies around the world. However, it has not always been plain sailing.
Changing tax regimes forced 007 to relocate to France and Mexico; changing fashions and politics led to box office disappointments; and changing studio regimes and business disputes all but killed the franchise. And the rise of competing action heroes has constantly questioned Bond’s place in popular culture. But against all odds the filmmakers continue to wring new life from the series,...

Filmmakers love to put murder mysteries on the big screen, which makes it no surprise that director Michael Winterbottom (who is mostly known for The Trip and The Trip to Italy) has done so in his latest feature The Face of an Angel. Here’s the official synopsis:
The Face Of An Angel tells the story of a journalist and a filmmaker as they lose themselves in a notorious murder case they are covering. Based on true events, a riveting account of the controversial case of an American student accused of murder in Italy.
While the trailer is a little hard to follow, Daniel Bruhl and Kate Beckinsale make an interesting pair as the journalist and filmmaker who cover the murder case in Italy. Cara Delevingne also stars in the film, but it’s not quite clear what her role is, only that she and Daniel Bruhl get involved with each other at some point.

"For the first few days I'll walk around like a little boy, just amazed by the megalomania of it. It's such a huge project. We could do 20 films with the budget."
Baron Helmut Zemo is the son of a Nazi scientist and long-time foe of Captain America with links to Hydra.
Frank Grillo will also be reprising his Captain America: The Winter Soldier role as Crossbones in the next film.
Civil War is expected to follow the original comic event by facing Cap off against his Avengers teammate Iron Man over plans to force superheroes to register with the government.

The film follows the relationship between film critic Roger Ebert and soft-core filmmaker Russ Meyer, who created Beyond the Valley of the Dolls together in 1970.
As The Hollywood Reporter reveals, Winterbottom will direct Will Ferrell in the movie, with the Anchorman star due to play Meyer.
It was revealed earlier in the year that Josh Gad is in line to play Roger Ebert in the upcoming drama.
The script was written by Chris Cluess, while David Permut, Cami Winikoff, Mark Amin and Tyler Boehm are set to produce the film.

Michael Winterbottom has spoken about directing Cara Delevingne in his latest movie and claimed she's "not an actor in the traditional sense".

Closely inspired by the events surrounding the murder of British student Meredith Kercher in 2007 and the media circus that ensued, The Face of an Angel embarks on a noble quest to remind us that at the core of this garish spectacle is a victim who lost her life. Unfortunately, given the fascinating subject matter, the aims of Michael Winterbottom's film are one of its few commendable aspects.
The key themes are well introduced early on, particularly amid the discussions between journalists covering the trial of a 'Foxy Knoxy' type murder suspect. Parts of the media are increasingly obsessed with reporting on the details of her hair and clothing choices rather than events pertaining to the murder, thus creating a sad parallel with the real events that transpired. As Daniel Brühl's filmmaker Thomas points out,...

Michael Winterbottom, usually an energetic and interesting film-maker, has sadly made a glib and shallow film inspired by the Amanda Knox legal case
What a mess this is – and what a shame. Michael Winterbottom is a film-maker of such restless energy and productivity: he is genuinely interested in ideas. His new film is vaguely inspired by the Amanda Knox case: the American woman who, along with her then boyfriend, was convicted, acquitted, then reconvicted in absentia of murdering British student Meredith Kercher in Perugia in 2007, and now faces extradition back to Italy. Heart-sinkingly, The Face of an Angel turns out to be a movie about a movie, a process about a process, bogged down in a tedious muddle of relativism and indecision.

Michael Winterbottom and the star of his film inspired by the murder of Meredith Kercher discuss the challenge of tackling such an emotive case – and what it taught them about the media today
There’s an early scene in The Face of an Angel where Kate Beckinsale and Daniel Brühl swig espresso in a scenic Roman square. As a troupe of street performers seem to levitate behind them, the pair discuss their plan to observe a murder trial in Siena. “If you’re going to make the film, make it a fiction,” Beckinsale’s seasoned journalist Simone tells Thomas, the dissolute director played by Brühl. “You can’t tell the truth unless you make it a fiction.” Brühl furrows his brows and concurs.

Cara Delevingne has said that she did not accept typecast roles when she got back into acting after kicking off her career as a model.
Delevingne first attempted to become an actress as a teenager but admitted to Time Out that her second career as a model may have hampered her return.
"The first time I did Fashion Week, I was like, 'Right, I might as well give up on acting because I'm screwed'.
"And as soon as I became a model, I was being sent typecasting roles as the stupid blonde who gets killed really quickly, or the sexy girlfriend, or whatever. Roles I would rather die than play."

It's hard work being a successful and sought-after supermodel, but someone has to do it. Cara Delevingne has been a busy bee lately, rocking the runway in countless fashion shows across Paris, Berlin, New York and London. Delevingne went totally fresh-faced in the pic, obviously unafraid of showing off her perfectly shaped brows and pouty...
