The 49th Annual Gracie Awards, hosted by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (Awmf) took place Tuesday, May 21 at the Beverly Hills Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. The 2024 awards ceremony, hosted by Tamera Mowry-Housley, celebrated the remarkable achievements of women across countless media platforms. Legendary Carol Burnett was bestowed with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by castmate of “Palm Royale,” Kristen Wiig. Gold Derby’s Latasha Ford and Marcus James Dixon were on the red carpet to interview many of the honorees, presenters, and attendees.

Legendary entertainer Carol Burnett will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s 49th annual Gracie Awards. The world-renowned comedian is still going strong at 91 years of age, having just won her seventh career Emmy Award for “Carol Burnett: 90 Years Of Laughter + Love.” The event will take place on Tuesday, May 21 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel located in Los Angeles, with the 2024 theme centered upon “Feminine Strength.” Tamera Mowry-Housley will host this year’s gala.

“Saturday Night Live” alum Kristen Wiig will present Burnett, her current “Palm Royale” co-star, with the prestigious honor. Additionally, Rachel Platten will perform during the 2024 Gracie Awards and Raegan Revord (“Young Sheldon”) will serve as the Digital Impact Ambassador for The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (Awmf).

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (Awmf) has announced the 49th Annual Gracie Awards winners.

This year’s winners include Michelle Obama, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Glennon Doyle, Rachel Brosnahan, Maria Shriver, Gayle King, Angela Yee, and Nicole Kidman, among many others. Some of the shows honored include Yellowjackets and Only Murders in the Building, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and more.

“As Women’s History Month draws to a close, we honor the remarkable women storytellers whose courage and resilience continue to inspire us,” Becky Brooks, President of Awmf, said in a statement. “Their stories, strengths, and influence are actively shaping our present and future. The impact of women is undeniable, and we look forward to celebrating these powerful contributions and achievements at the upcoming Gracie Awards.”

The Gracies celebrate outstanding achievements in media dedicated to women, by women, and about women across diverse platforms in news and entertainment.

The 55th NAACP Image Awards continued to honor Black excellence on Saturday night, with Queen Latifah hosting the live telecast from the Shrine Auditorium.

The Color Purple continued its winning streak on the final night of the NAACP Image Awards, taking the trophy for Outstanding Motion Picture. Fantasia Barrino also took the award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture, with co-stars Colman Domingo and Taraji P. Henson winning their respective categories.

Domingo also won an award for Rustin in the Outstanding Actor category.

Usher was named Entertainer of the Year the same night the artist received the President’s Award. Previous recipients of the President’s Award include Gabrielle Union-Wade, Dwyane Wade, Rihanna, LeBron James, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Lauryn Hill, and Soledad O’Brien, among others.

The NAACP Image Awards has revealed its fourth round of winners in the non-televised categories, including outstanding writing in a motion picture, directing, animated motion picture and more.

Thursday night’s awards were presented during a gala event at the Hollywood Palladium, hosted by Sherri Shepherd.

Winners include Ava DuVernay, who took home the award for best directing in a motion picture for Origin, and Cord Jefferson, who won outstanding writing in a motion picture for American Fiction.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse also won the award for outstanding animated motion picture. And Abbott Elementary won two awards: outstanding comedy series and best supporting actor in a comedy series (William Stanford Davis). And Ayo Edebiri added to her awards season haul with a best supporting actress in a comedy series prize for The Bear. The film, which premieres on December 14 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, is inspired by Mickey Guyton‘s song of the same name. it tells the story of four people who find themselves stranded in a local diner on Christmas Eve when a snowstorm hits: Imani (Brown), a widowed mother of two having trouble making ends meet and stuck working the holiday shift; her boss Dan (Richard Harmon), who doesn’t embody the Christmas spirit; Felix (Juan Riedinger), a local pastor whose faith is challenged by his alienation by his son; and Clara (Tina Lifford), a hospice nurse with an obstinate patient (Phylicia Rashad) and whose daughter is moving away. Christmas Eve at Rocko’s Diner in Philadelphia finds a menu short on holiday spirit for four struggling strangers stuck during a snowstorm.
