Despite what you might have heard on the internet, the Rey Skywalker movie is not dead. In fact, it just tapped George Nolfi to be its screenwriter.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the writer and director has been brought on to write the film, which will see the return of Daisy Ridley in the role of Rey Skywalker. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is still on as the director, making her jump from documentaries to narrative features.

There are a few things to remember about the first half of Blue Bloods' final season as the series heads toward its conclusion. Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) briefly had a clone on Star Trek: The Next Generation long before Shinzon (Tom Hardy) appeared in Star Trek: Nemesis. The final Tng film saw the crew of the USS Enterprise-e face off against Shinzon after he took control of the Romulan Empire. The Romulans created a clone of Picard to act as a spy within the Federation, but they soon abandoned the project and sent Shinzon to a Reman labor camp. Shinzon later rebelled against the Romulan Empire and made plans to attack the United Federation of Planets.

Despite their shared DNA, Star Trek: Nemesis' villainous Shinzon bears little resemblance to Jean-Luc Picard in everything apart from his appearance. Exclusive: Canada’s International South Asian Film Festival (iSAFF) has unveiled its lineup. The festival will take place in Surrey, British Columbia and run from September 25 to 29.

Featuring 19 world premieres, eight North American premieres, and 23 Canadian premieres, the festival will open with Lakshmipriya Devi’s debut feature Boong. Boong will have its world premiere at TIFF on September 7.

The iSAFF’s closing film will be Amar Wala’s debut feature Shook, which stars Saamer Usmani and Amy Forsyth (Coda). The Canadian production is financed by Telefilm Canada and Ontario Creates.

Under this year’s festival theme of “Crossroads,” the lineup also includes Usman Riaz’s The Glassworker, the festival’s first animated feature from Pakistan and dark comedy We Strangers, directed by Anu Valia.

Besides feature films, the festival will showcase 53 short films and five episodic series from South Asia and its diaspora.

Matthew Fox has been tapped to star in drama series “The Assassin” that is currently in the works at Max, TheWrap has learned.
