A few months ago, legendary director and cinematic gatekeeper Martin Scorsese shared a recommendation for the horror film I Saw the TV Glow. Now, Scorsese has taken a moment to hype up another horror film, and this time it was The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers‘ remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu.
An unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the original Nosferatu has the following synopsis: In this highly influential silent horror film, the mysterious Count Orlok (Max Schreck) summons Thomas Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) to his remote Transylvanian castle in the mountains. The eerie Orlok seeks to buy a house near Hutter and his wife, Ellen (Greta Schroeder). After Orlok reveals his vampire nature, Hutter struggles to escape the castle, knowing that Ellen is in grave danger. Meanwhile Orlok’s servant, Knock (Alexander Granach), prepares for his master to arrive at his new home.

Exclusive: Amazon MGM Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine are getting closer to finding the next Elle Woods to lead its upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series.
Lexi Minetree (The Murdaugh Murders) and Madison Wolfe have tested for the role, Deadline has learned. According to inside sources, no decision has been made yet; one is expected soon. Reps for Amazon MGM Studios and Hello Sunshine declined to comment for this story.
The two have emerged as finalists in an extensive casting process that saw dozens of young actresses audition for the potentially star-making part that famously catapulted Witherspoon into the ranks of Hollywood’s A-list after she portrayed the character as an adult in the hit romantic comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003).

The horror genre is well-regarded in cinema as the closest thing to a guaranteed money-maker there is, at least where non-ip is concerned. Horror movies in general have a built-in fan base who are always willing (if not eager) to go check out the latest supernatural thriller, throwback slasher, zombie flick, or whatever other scares are in store. However, one of the other staples of the genre is its thriftiness — you don't need a huge budget to make an effective and successful horror movie, and that in turn makes it more possible for the movie to be successful at the box office. Although most horror movies turn a healthy profit, you don't tend to see too many reaching the same lofty financial heights as the average multi-million dollar blockbuster.
The closest horror movies come to earning billions of dollars is when they're part of a successful franchise, and sometimes not even then.

The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers‘ remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it Here) made its way out into theatres last month and has stirred up a lot of positive reactions, with JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray even describing the film as a new horror classic in his 10/10 review. While the look of the title character was kept under wraps in the build-up to the film’s release, now that the movie has been out in the world for a month and has even received a digital release, Focus Feature has decided to start selling 6 foot tall standees of the Count. You can check out an image of the standee at the bottom of this article, and you can buy your own Count Orlok standee at This Link for $49.95.

Madison Wolfe is back in the horror-thriller genre with The Man in the White Van. Having made her acting debut in 2012 with back-to-back roles in the Kristen Stewart-starring adaptation of On the Road and Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis-led political comedy The Campaign, Wolfe found her breakout turn in 2016's The Conjuring 2, portraying the target of the movie's supernatural threat, Janet Hodgson. In the years since, Wolfe not only reunited with James Wan on Malignant, but also led the well-received adaptation of I Kill Giants and in multiple episodes of Mayfair Witches.
Wolfe stars in The Man in the White Van as Annie, a teenage girl living in a small town in Florida in the '70s with her younger brother, older sister and her parents. Often prone to letting her imagination run wild, and frequently butting heads with her sister and mother, Annie suddenly finds herself...

The Conjuring film franchise is set to come to an end with the fourth installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which Warner Bros. has scheduled for a theatrical release on September 5, 2025 release. A couple months ago, producer James Wan took to social media to share a picture of the chairs meant for franchise stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga on the set of the film, writing, “Always good to see and hang out with old friends. Gonna miss everyone. End of an era.“ Production on the sequel has since wrapped, with Farmiga also posting on Instagram about the end of the time she and Wilson have spent playing the paranormal investigators / married couple Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Sharing a picture of their characters’ wedding picture, Farmiga wrote, “Roundabout 5000 days ago, this guy and I signed a WB contract and said ‘I do’ to embodying Ed and Lorraine Warren. Today, he wraps.

The Conjuring series star Madison Wolfe has offered an emotional response to the fourth movie, The Conjuring: Last Rites, being the end of the $321 million franchise. The fourth movie under the series' name and the ninth installment overall in the horror shared universe, the story of The Conjuring: Last Rites marks the end of Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) digging into paranormal hauntings. While it's unclear which of their real-world investigations will be adapted for the final movie, it will mark a seemingly definitive end to the nearly 12-year-old horror franchise.

The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers‘ remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it Here) is set to reach theatres on Wednesday, December 25th – and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray highly recommends that you check it out, as he described the film as a new horror classic in his 10/10 review. Now, a pair of 39 second clips from the film have arrived online. One of these clips can be seen above, and it involves talk of a disturbing vision about holding hands with Death. The other can be seen at the bottom of this article – and that one involves a vampire hunter delivering lines about wrestling with the Devil that reminded me of Dr. Loomis from Halloween, as well as the “I have seen shit that’ll turn you white!” line from Ghostbusters.

Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it Here), and Focus Features will be giving the film “a prime holiday season release” when they bring it to theatres on Wednesday, December 25th. Anticipation levels are high for this one, so we have decided to put together a list of Everything We Know about this version of Nosferatu:

The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers‘ remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it Here) is set to reach theatres on Wednesday, December 25th – and while there has been a lot of talk about the transformation Bill Skarsgard (It) underwent to play the title character (Skarsgard himself has said that playing Nosferatu / Count Orlok was like “conjuring pure evil. It took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me. … I do not think people are gonna recognize me in it.“), it has been confirmed that we won’t be seeing a good shot of the dead Transylvanian nobleman until the movie reaches the big screen.

The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers‘ remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it Here) is set to reach theatres on Wednesday, December 25th – and to celebrate the occasion, Heretic Parfum and Focus Features have teamed up to bring the world a limited edition fragrance that will allow people to smell like “an encounter with an apparition in the cold, damp caves of Count Orlok’s castle.” This fragrance is called Nosferatu Eau de Macabre, and can be purchased through the Heretic Parfum website.
Here’s the description of the Nosferatu Eau de Macabre fragrance: “In partnership with Nosferatu and Focus Features, Heretic is proud to present Nosferatu Eau de Macabre, a fragrance inspired by the iconic vampire. In Janji Darah’s ending, a message on the screen says, “This is a part of my life story.” So I suppose everything I’m about to tell you is based on true events? The film tells the story of Rayhan and Sher, a young married couple who are terrorized in their home just as they’re about to start a family. Sher and Rayhan are hoping to start a family, and they’ve been struggling to do so for a while. At the beginning of the film, Sher learns she’s pregnant, and soon enough, sinister things start to take place in their home. When I talk about The Conjuring 2, I always describe it as “romance-horror,” where romance takes the upper hand; at the end of the day, it’s a love story. However, having seen this one, I think it’s an even more apt label for Janji Darah.

2016's The Legend of Tarzan was a critical and commercial failure, even though it had assembled many of the ingredients that could have made it an adventure classic. The movie, which starred Alexander Skarsgrd as Tarzan and Margot Robbie as Jane, was a retelling of the story of the iconic Edgar Rice Burroughs character. Tarzan is a multimedia icon, and his story was adapted to the screen as early as 1918 in the silent film Tarzan of the Apes, with more than four dozen adaptations to follow, including Disney's Oscar-winning 1999 animated movie Tarzan.
The 2016 title is the most recent Tarzan movie to hit the big screen, and its general reception may be one reason that the property has since gone dormant on the big screen for nearly a decade. In addition to most likely failing to turn a profit in theaters, it was excoriated by critics and met with apathy from general audiences.

You’ve still got time to squeeze in some scary shows before Halloween: We recommend these limited series, including AMC’s “The Terror,” and the original “Salem’s Lot” from 1979, that can easily be binged in a weekend or just a day.
The series on our list are all under 10 episodes and available to stream right now, so grab your big bucket of popcorn, get cozy on the couch and spend some time with these vampires, ghosts, witches and some really haunted real estate.
“The Terror” (AMC) The Terror
Based on the real-life doomed arctic expedition of Captain Sir John Franklin (played here by Ciarán Hinds): We see the men aboard two ships, one of which is unwisely named the Hms Terror, struggle as they slowly try to carve a path through the ice. But there’s something (or things) much more sinister plaguing the journey. Jared Harris and Tobias Menzies costar.

As part of The Conjuring Universe, The Nun includes true-story connections that make the movie more disturbing. Based on the experience of real-life demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, The Conjuring Universe tells stories purported as real-life horrors with a supernatural connection. Actors Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have made the Warrens household names, but previous films have made tenuous connections between fact, fiction, and horror.

The Conjuring film franchise is set to come to an end with the fourth installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which Warner Bros. has scheduled for a theatrical release on September 5, 2025 release. We had previously heard that this movie would be filming in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but apparently they’re doing some work across the pond as well, as we also heard that filming was scheduled to take place in London, England from September 10th through October 10th this year. Whatever the schedules and locations may be, The Conjuring: Last Rite is indeed currently in production – which producer James Wan has just proven by sharing an image from the set!
Showing the chairs meant for franchise stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, Wan wrote, “Always good to see and hang out with old friends. Gonna miss everyone. End of an era.“

A while back, Relativity Media picked up the North American distribution rights to director Warren Skeels’ true crime thriller The Man in the White Van from Garrison Film and Legion M, and they’re planning to give the film a theatrical release on December 13th. With that date just two months away, a trailer for The Man in the White Van has now arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Inspired by a series of crimes that shook the nation in the 1970s, The Man in the White Van was written by Skeels (who makes his narrative feature directorial debut here) and Sharon Y. Cobb. The story is said to delve into the harrowing experiences of Annie Williams, a spirited family girl, whose carefree existence is turned upside down as she finds herself stalked by an ominous man in a white van. Nine months of horror releases down, three to go! We’re officially in the “spooky season” portion of the year, the build-up to our favorite holiday, Halloween, and with our 2024 Fall Horror Movie Preview, we’re looking ahead at some of the horror movies we can’t wait to check out in the remaining months of this year. Below, you’ll find a list of the movies we’re anxious to see this Halloween season and beyond… so, here we go:

After launching in 2020 as HBO Max, the primary streaming home for Warner Bros. titles, Max changed its name and rebranded in 2023. While the name change also comes with some changes to subscription tiers, Max will still release new hit titles every month, which in October includes yet more highly acclaimed movies and the most anticipated TV shows.
Max features a varied collection of new releases and returning favorites for Max users to enjoy in the coming month. The long-delayed adaptation of Salem's Lot will finally be making its debut on Max while there are also some big horror movies from 2024, including MaXXXine and Trap. Bonnie Aarons is surprisingly most recognizable when she looks nothing like herself, considering that her most famous role is the demon nun Valak in The Conjuring 2. Outside The Conjuring franchise, Aarons has appeared in over 50 movies, including some unexpected ones. She briefly appears in the comedy Shallow Hal, both The Princess Diaries movies, starring Anne Hathaway, and the psychological drama The Silver Linings Playbook. Still, Aarons is best known for horror movies, including Drag Me To Hell and I Know Who Killed Me, and The Conjuring franchise made her a horror icon.
Valak "the Defiler" is first introduced in The Conjuring 2, taking the form of the creepy entity known as the Crooked Man, as well as the white-faced, yellow-eyed nun. The ending of The Conjuring 2 shows Vera Farmig's Lorraine Warren sending Valak back to hell. Still, the demon nun image was so visually striking and popular with...

The Conjuring film franchise is set to come to an end with the fourth installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which Warner Bros. has scheduled for a theatrical release on September 5, 2025 release. We had previously heard that this movie would be filming in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but apparently they’re doing some work across the pond as well, as we’ve also heard that filming was scheduled to take place in London, England from September 10th through October 10th this year. So it makes sense that the first two cast members to be announced, other than returning franchise stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, are both English. Deadline reports that Wilson and Farmiga have been joined in the cast by Ben Hardy (Love at First Sight) and Mia Tomlinson (The Lost Pirate Kingdom). Details on the characters they’re playing have not been revealed.

The Conjuring: Last Rites adds X-Men star Ben Hardy and Mia Tomlinsonas the latest new additions to join Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren's (Vera Farmiga) final case. Slated for release in 2025, the ninth installment in the Conjuring franchise is set to bring the paranormal investigator's story to a close. The characters have been key parts of the franchise since the original 2013 movie, with the series having crafted a fictionalized representation of the real-world investigators and many of their notable cases.
With The Conjuring: Last Rites confirmed to be the last hurrah for the Warrens, Deadline has reported two new faces expected to star alongside Wilson and Farmiga in the fourth movie of the franchise's core narrative. Hardy, known for his roles of Archangel in X-Men: Apocalypse and Roger Taylor in Bohemian Rhapsody, will be joined by The Beast Must Die star Mia Tomlinson in the final installment in the story.
