While the fanciful racing and scenario is not ultimately realistic, as a story it is still an entertaining watch. There is no requirement to have watched the original to enjoy this film. It does shine a light on some of the teams that can be found in Chinese rallying, backed by a range of automotive factories that not known in Western Countries.
While corporate greed and winning at all costs is there, it demonstrates how the passion for the sport can triumph without getting too soppy. The director is a multiple times rally racing champion within China and he has even competed in the Production World Rally Championship as a driver. So this is a movie made from the heart, yet the story is still well rounded and worthy of seeing.
