- Alan Binder is a skillful hostage negotiator, the best in Mexico, who will soon face the most crucial case of his career when the President and his lover are kidnapped. The kidnapper demands to negotiate only with him.
- Alan (Mauricio Ochmann) works with the local police department in Mexico, and he was an excellent negotiator. There were times during a hostage situation that Alan took charge of things and made sure that the captives were brought back safely. Alan's colleague is Menendez (Itza Sodi). Maria Luisa (Clementina Guadarrama) is their babysitter.
His wife, Victoria (Tato Alexander), was a therapist, and she, too, had a hectic schedule. But at times, she had to look after their daughter Juana (Isabella Arroyo) and let go off a lot of things just because Alan wasn't there to help her out. But Alan took her and her work for granted for the longest time, and then, one day, all hell broke loose. Alan was supposed to take their daughter to her swimming classes when he got a call from his department, who informed them that a man was holding his own mother-in-law hostage, and he was threatening to kill her. Alan knew that his subordinate Menendez, wouldn't be able to handle the situation, and so he immediately left for the crime scene, leaving his daughter with his wife. Alan is able to convince the man Jose that if he surrenders, he gets at best 2-3 months in a mental hospital, but if he shoots his mother-in-law, then his wife cleans him out (and she was already cheating on Jose, which led to this situation in the first place).
That day, Victoria had to take her daughter to her workplace, and her client didn't know that a little girl was listening to their private conversation while sitting in the washroom (even though she was wearing noise canceling headphones). The client got angry, and Victoria was told that her license would be canceled. Victoria was agitated, and that day, when Alan came back home, she told him that they should either get couples therapy or she was going to divorce him.
Alan agreed to the therapy. While he was in a session with Dr Socorro (Geraldine Zinat), Victoria admits that she was sleeping around with her trainer Nico. Alan cannot decide is she is lying or serious. Alan got a call from an unknown number, and he was told that the President Araiza (Enoc Leano) was kidnapped. Alan had to leave in the middle of the therapy session as he knew that the nation needed him. He didn't know who the kidnapper was or what he wanted to achieve by kidnapping the president. The kidnapper told the chief of the special operations police unit, Alejandra Carrasco (Claudette Maille), that he was only going to negotiate with Alan and nobody else.
Araiza had an affair going on with a congresswoman from the opposition named Lobaton (Fernanda Borches), and when he went to meet her in a hotel room, he realized that it was a trap. A man named Vicente Zambrano (Leonardo Ortizgris) was the kidnapper. Alan knew that he had heard the name somewhere, but he just wasn't able to recall where he had heard it.
Meanwhile, Vicente tricked Victoria and took her hostage, too. Victoria got a call from her trainer, but once she reached the designated spot, she realized that she had walked straight into the trap. Victoria's trainer, Nico (Gonzalo Vega Jr.), was also a part of the conspiracy, though nobody knew that he was also one of the conspirators. The police evacuate the building where the President was meeting Lobaton in one of the apartments, in secret. They surround the building with snipers and have a SWAT team ready to attack. Alan asks Carrasco that his wife is involved and hence the kidnapper has some personal grievance with him.
Vicente first asked for $30 million to be transferred to Jesus' hospital account, and then he said that he wanted the same amount to be transferred to Quetzalcoatl Elementary School. Regina Baston (Cristina Michaus), the secretary of internal affairs, came to take charge of the situation, and she was of the opinion to stop negotiations and use force to get the president out. But Alan's wife's life was at stake, and he just begged them to give him some time. Alan says that the kidnapper is an ex-cop or ex-military as he knew all of their protocols and was steps ahead of the police response. Baston insists that the news of the kidnapping cannot be leaked to any online or media source.
Alan remembered that Vicente had worked with him in the forces. Alan and Vicente were stuck in a hostage situation back in the day. Vicente was an expert sniper in the special operations police unit, and he always had a problem with authority and corrupt regimes. Once, a drug dealer took a few people hostage, and he asked the police department to release his partners. Zambrano didn't want to wait for the orders, and he shot at the criminal. He killed the man, but the man was carrying a dead man's stick which detonated, as soon as he was shot. The resultant explosion killed the hostages on the spot. Zambrano had to spend some jail time, and after that, all the incentives that he got from the government were canceled. The person who signed his discharge was Araiza. Alan was the negotiator at that time, and Zambrano blamed him for not helping his cause. Zambrano's wife had died as she had cancer, and the couple didn't have any money for chemotherapy. They relied on the incentives they got from the government, and without that, they had no other option. Zambrano had kidnapped Victoria together with the president because, firstly, he wanted to take revenge on the corrupt regime, and secondly, he wanted to give Alan a taste of his own medicine.
Alan got a 30-million-peso transfer, as Vicente had asked him. But then the man asked for a polygraph machine as he wanted to record the confession made by the president (admitting to corruption of $120 million) and expose him in front of the entire nation. Alan gave him that, too without telling Baston. Vicente released the congresswoman and then Nico, too, but he didn't release Victoria. When Nico was released, Alan and Alejandra Carrasco figured out that he was a co-conspirator, and he was sent out so that he could upload the video online. The internet of the entire building was jammed, and so Vicente had to send someone outside to make the video public. But Alan doesn't trust Nico and uses a sedative to capture him. They find the video hidden on his body in a flash drive. In the video, Araiza claims that Baston is more corrupt than anyone. Meanwhile, Regina Baston and other leaders made a plan to break inside the room and try to capture the perpetrator.
They knew that they wouldn't let him expose the regime, and they were ready to sacrifice the life of the president if it came to that. The army general (Alfredo Huereca) said that even if the president lost his life, he could be portrayed as a martyr, and the power could be smoothly transferred to Regina. That's when Alan decided to go inside and strike a deal with Vicente so that no harm was done. Alan asked Vicente to open the door and let him in. He asked him to release Victoria and take him hostage.
Alan told Vicente that he needed to surrender, as otherwise, the forces would come and kill him. Alan was able to convince the president to make sure that Vicente didn't get a sentence exceeding 2 years. In return, he asked Vicente not to leak the video where the president had confessed to his crimes. A deal was made, and without any collateral damage, Vicente was sent behind bars.
A few months later, the video was leaked, and Vicente became famous overnight as 370 million people view the video. People got to know that he was the one who had kidnapped the president, and he had done so to expose the crimes and corruption of the government. The president was sent behind bars, and Vicente became the flag-bearer of the anti-corruption movement.
Vicente gave a call to Alan and asked him if he wanted to keep up the good work, join hands with him, and work for the welfare of society. Alan didn't give him a clear-cut answer, but the look on his face told us that he found the proposal to be worth the shot.
