The film was finished thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised over $10,000 in 30 days.
Original songs that are heard in the film by Nancy Micciulla are available on her album, 'The One to Shine'.
The original script was titled A TERRIBLY GOOD DAY. Near the end of production it was agreed that the film should have a new title and FALLEN was selected shortly after the project went into post-production. It wasn't until shortly before the film premiered at the 2014 Manhattan Film Festival that the title of WHAT WAS LOST was settled on.
The principal production took place over 5 very hectic days in February of 2012 near Ebensburg and Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Dustin Helton, who plays Anderson, was nominated for 2 AVN Awards as Brad Newman in 2018.
