The “Yellowstone” Season 5B premiere was shocking in ways both expected and unexpected.
We expected that John Dutton, the character played by Kevin Costner, would meet his maker following a prolonged and very public skirmish between the star and series creator Taylor Sheridan, which involved contract obligations and Costner’s own western epic “Horizon.” Ultimately, they couldn’t reach an agreement and Costner left the show.
But the way that his death was handled in Episode 9, and the mystery and sadness and grief surrounding his passing, along with an ingenious structure for the first episode that flashed back, for most of the runtime, to six weeks before his death, added even more emotional heft.
Corralling all of this fell to director Christina Alexandra Voros, a longtime member of the “Yellowstone” family who has directed 9 episodes of the mainline series, along with episodes of “1883” and Sheridan’s “Lawmen: Bass Reeves.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for “Yellowstone” Season 5 Episode 9, “Desire Is All You Need.”
Sunday’s episode of “Yellowstone” was a game-changer, as patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) was killed off after the actor decided not to return to the show. As shocking as the event was, the aftermath has reverberations that set the scene for the whole season.
Director Christina Alexandra Voros spoke with Variety about the intense emotions conjured while filming the episode, how the crew supports the cast on complicated shooting days and what sequel series “The Madison” will have in common with “Yellowstone.”
There was a long time between filming the first and second half of Season 5, and Kevin Costner also left before filming the latter half. What was the vibe like on set getting everybody back together again for the first time?
It was kind of great. We’ve all been together so long as a family,...

This post contains spoilers for the "Yellowstone" season 5 part 2 premiere.
It finally happened. Nearly two years after "Yellowstone" season 5 initially premiered, the hit series has returned to Paramount Network to kick off its (supposedly) final run of episodes. The second half of the show's fifth season has had to contend with the loss of its main star, Kevin Costner, who had led the way as John Dutton since the beginning. No longer, though; as viewers are surely aware, the latest episode of "Yellowstone" killed off Costner's character pretty definitively. So, what does Costner think about that, exactly?
In a bit of serendipitous timing, Costner had an interview scheduled with SiriusXM's "The Michael Smerconish Program" the morning after the "Yellowstone" season 5 part 2 premiere. First and foremost, the legendary actor and director made it clear that he wasn't even aware the show had returned,...

“Yellowstone” is back.
Taylor Sheridan’s phenomenally popular series, the most-watched show currently airing on television, returns on Sunday, Nov. 10. The new batch of episodes (six in total) serve as the second half of the show’s fifth season, which began way back in November 2022. Since then, the show has endured a very public feud with its star Kevin Costner, two strikes that shutdown Hollywood and a considerable amount of handwringing about what direction the series will ultimately take.
And while it appears that the mainline series is coming to an end, although that “final season” bit has been left out of the marketing materials for the second half of season 5 (so far), there will still be plenty to come from Sheridan’s considerable “Yellowstone” universe. These plans include a whole suite of “Yellowstone” spinoffs, which are somewhat confusing and difficult to parse through. But that’s why we’re here.

On the brink of the return of Yellowstone and with so many unanswered questions with both the character and the cast, we can’t help but wonder: What’s next? Considering the series has become a full-fledged franchise with numerous spinoffs, no doubt we can expect even more from the ranch — especially if Rip gets his way.
Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone, said he would like to see the story of Rip and Beth (Kelly Reilly) evolve into its own series. As he told The Hollywood Reporter, “You can go on forever about these two. There’s no walls when it comes to them, no limits. As long as Taylor wants to write something special, I know Kelly and I would be interested to do it.”
But before that particular storyline goes any further, we have to get through the rest of the original show. Expectedly, Hauser...

“The Last Cowboy” is galloping in this fall. The latest season of the competition docuseries will premiere on Nov. 15 on CMT, TheWrap has exclusively learned. It will air on the network at 8 p.m. commercial free.
“Nothing compares to the ‘Run for a Million,'” a man donning a cowboy hat says in the first trailer for this new season. “We’re all waiting for it.”
“It really does call upon the very best of the best,” another man says. Watch the full trailer below.
The docuseries comes from “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan and chronicles the Western equine sports of horse reining, cutting and cow horse. All of this reigning and saddling leads up to Sheridan’s “Run for a Million” event, a high stakes competition involving 16 men and women. They’re all competing for the same highly desired prize — $1 million.

On June 20, 2018, Paramount Network aired the first episode of a neo-Western drama television series called Yellowstone – and a megahit franchise was born. Lately, news regarding the franchise has been focused on what’s coming further down the line. We’ve been hearing casting announcements about the spin-off series The Madison and 1923, and we’ve heard that the flagship show, which was said to be ending with “season 5, part 2,” might continue with a sixth season after all… but before we get there, we still need to see Yellowstone season 5, part 2, which has a premiere date of Sunday, November 10th at 8pm Et/Pt. With the premiere dates almost upon us, JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray had to the chance to sit down for interviews with Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler), Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), and Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), and you can find out what they had to say about Yellowstone...

How will Yellowstone end? Will John Dutton get taken to the “train station”? And, is this really the end?
All of these questions have been swirling ever since Paramount Network first announced that the second half of season five of Yellowstone would bring Taylor Sheridan’s mega-hit Western series to a conclusion. Those questions were then compounded when the show’s star, Kevin Costner (who plays the family’s patriarch John Dutton), confirmed that he was exiting the series. (The “train station,” by the way, is the family’s code term for where they bury bodies of their enemies.)
Now, ahead of the highly anticipated Nov. 10 premiere of season 5B, The Hollywood Reporter spoke with director Christina Voros to get some of those answers. Voros is a veteran in the Yellowstone-verse, having directed on spinoff 1883 and next getting behind the camera for The Madison. She helmed four of Yellowstone’s...

Amid reports that Yellowstone has been canceled, fans are curious about the off-screen drama involving the show’s biggest star.
In case you weren’t aware, this appears to be a rough time in Kevin Costner’s personal life.
Last year, he was served with divorce papers by Christine Baumgartner, his wife of 18 years.
Shortly thereafter, it was confirmed that the veteran star was going through a split in his professional life, as well.

In May of 2023, Paramount announced that Yellowstone would end its five-year run.
Now, with the show’s (allegedly) final slate of episodes less than a week away, fans have a lot of questions.
Is the series still coming to an end, as planned? Are the reports of Costner’s diva-like behavior accurate?...

Yellowstone alum Jefferson White has confirmed he’ll be back as Jimmy Hurdstrom in Season 5 Part 2, premiering Sunday, November 10 on Paramount Network and CBS. The actor shared photos on Instagram taken while filming down at the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas this summer, the captions revealing that the return to this ranch would be seen in the upcoming episodes. But what does this mean for the 6666 spinoff, which was announced in February 2021 and meant to be all about this Texas ranch? The 6666 spinoff was one of the first Yellowstone spinoffs announced from this franchise and had the potential to be the first modern-day spinoff in the universe. Now, it seems like The Madison could come out before that one hits the small screens (it has already started filming). Could Jimmy’s return mean that the new season of Yellowstone, said to be its last, will set up the 6666 spinoff? We...

Patrick J. Adams may be preparing to join the Yellowstone universe with the upcoming spinoff The Madison, but he isn’t closing the door on the Suits franchise either. The actor who became famous for his role as Mike Ross in the former USA Network hit may not be among the cast of NBC’s forthcoming spinoff Suits: L.A., but Adams tells TV Insider, “I’m fully supportive of that show, and I’ve always told Aaron [Korsh] I’m eager and excited to jump back into the world, put the suit back on — so to speak — if it feels right.” “People are excited about it. But for now, our focus Suits-wise is this podcast that we launched two weeks ago,” Adams adds, talking of the recently launched podcast Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast he cohosts with costar Sarah Rafferty. Yellowstone fans may be gearing up for the return of their favorite series on Paramount Network, but the upcoming spinoff The Madison has star Patrick J. Adams excited. TV Insider caught up with the actor, who is best known for playing lawyer Mike Ross in USA Network‘s long-loved hit Suits (pictured below), as he appeared on Fox‘s courtroom drama Accused, and he teased his joy over the new gig he’s taking on. Slated to play Russell McIntosh, a young investment banker who has followed the life path set before him, Adams couldn’t divulge any specific details, only that he’s very much enjoying the work. Ian Watson/USA Network/Courtesy: Everett Collection “I wish I could say anything about it, but I feel the minute I say a word, someone will bust through this window and shut me down,” Adams joked when we asked him about the project.

Taylor Sheridan just never seems to miss, delivering some of the most epic projects of all time curated from his indisputable genius. Besides giving masterpieces like Yellowstone and its spin-off series, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown, he also created the thriller show Special Ops: Lioness, and fans just can’t seem to get enough of his work.

“Yellowstone” is back.
The hit Taylor Sheridan series finally returns to Paramount Network on Nov. 10 for its anticipated Season 5 Part 2. (The last episode aired way back in January 2022.) And you can get a look at the new season thanks to a brand-new trailer. Watch it below:
Now, there are a few things that might catch your attention in that trailer — chiefly the appearance of Kevin Costner, whose behind-the-scenes battle with Sheridan led to the actor leaving the series. But here he is in this trailer. Was the footage filmed during the 5A shoot? We are very confused.
Also, there is no mention, in the trailer, that these six episodes are the final episodes of “Yellowstone” proper. Costner’s exit led to a creative shift that saw producers sunset “Yellowstone” and introduce a new concept with some of the key cast members.

The Dutton family civil war in Yellowstone breaks out into open warfare in the official trailer for the second half of season five.
“I can’t do this anymore,” anxious cattle rancher’s daughter Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, says at one point in the trailer. “Well, you’re gonna have to, honey. Or we’re gonna lose this place,” her ranch hand husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), warns her as the Paramount Network drama makes its long-awaiting return after the first five episodes of season five ended back in January 2023.
“This war is just beginning,” says Kevin Costner, who is not returning after his high-profile exit from the Yellowstone ranch as John Dutton, and yet appears very much in the trailer in scenes likely to wrap his character. In a major cast disruption, Costner left the show after the fifth season hiatus for Yellowstone, partly to focus on his Horizon film saga.

The trailer for “Yellowstone” Season 5 Part 2 is finally here, almost two years after Part 1 wrapped up way back in January 2023.

By 2023, when the first part of this season premiered on Paramount Network, 8.8 million people tuned in to view the show. Simulcasts across Country Music Television, TV Land, and Pop TV brought that number up to 10.5 million.

Happily, we’ve been promised a lot of great things when it comes to ‘The Madison,’ so much so we can’t help but wait patiently for it to drop.

Back in 2023, the news broke that Matthew McConaughey could become part of the ever-expanding "Yellowstone" universe, with the actor said to be eyeing a role in the spin-off series "The Madison." Sadly, McConaughey later dropped out of the project, with "The Madison" now set to be fronted by Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer. No doubt the legendary stars will be more than capable of carrying the series, but it does seem like a missed opportunity to get McConaughey into a show that seems tailor made to support his Texan charm — especially since it's written by proud Lone Star State scribe Taylor Sheridan.
Alas, it seems for now fans of the "Yellowstone" saga and its spin-offs will be McConaughey-less for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, however, the mothership series itself is gearing up for the launch of what could very well be its final ever episodes, with the long-awaited season...

Alright, I'll admit it: It's hard to keep the "Yellowstone" extended universe straight. Since 2018, the Western drama about warring factions of a powerful Montana family has been a watercooler favorite of TV fans around the country, and this fall, the original series is finally set to begin its last stretch of episodes. In the years since "Yellowstone" first aired, series creator Taylor Sheridan has been pulling double, triple, and quadruple duty, crafting two prequel series (wagon train survival story "1883" and Prohibition-set drama "1923") plus several other unrelated shows for Paramount+.
Now that the end of "Yellowstone" is on the horizon, it's worth straightening out the many differing reports of what's next for Sheridan and the show's future. Poke around, and you'll see reports about no fewer than four "Yellowstone" spin-offs in development, including "6666," "The Madison," "1944," and "2024." It's a lot of dates to keep straight, and each one comes with casting rumors galore,...

The next Yellowstone spinoff, The Madison (formerly titled 2024) has added another cast member. As previously announced, the modern-day series will star Michelle Pfeiffer, Lost alum Matthew Fox, Patrick J. Adams of Suits, Firefly Lane alum Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, and newcomer Elle Chapman. Now, Y: The Last Man alum Ben Schnetzer has joined the cast. He’s reportedly playing a rancher. Could he be The Madison‘s version of Rip Wheeler? Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions, The Madison is the next installment from the Yellowstone universe and Taylor Sheridan. Pfeiffer will star and executive produce. Paramount previously confirmed that The Madison and 2024 will not be two separate series as had been rumored. Kurt Russell has also been rumored to be attached to the series, though that casting still remains speculation. Here’s the latest on the new series. What is Yellowstone‘s The Madison about?...

Ben Schnetzer is the latest addition to the cast of the “Yellowstone” spinoff series “The Madison,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Schnetzer will appear in Taylor Sheridan’s new series alongside previously announced cast members Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett and Amiah Miller. Schnetzer will play Van, described as “a salt-of-the-earth and neighborly Montana rancher.”
“The Madison” was previously in development under the title “2024.” Per the official logline, the show is a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.” It is not yet clear if the show will debut exclusively on Paramount+ or start off on Paramount Network like “Yellowstone.”
Schnetzer was recently cast alongside Lily James in the upcoming biopic about the founder of Bumble. He has also wrapped production on the feature “The Yellow Tie,” a biopic about renowned Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache.

In the current television landscape, "Yellowstone" is king. Above "House of the Dragon" and other big, flashier shows, it is Taylor Sheridan's Western series that stands as the most popular show on cable right now. Even so, all good things must come to an end. The second half of the show's fifth season is due to air later this year and it very well may be the show's swan song. That's largely because Kevin Costner, who has led the way as John Dutton since the beginning, has departed the show. How does the rest of the cast feel about that? Luke Grimes at least seems to be pretty even-tempered regarding Costner's exit.
In an interview earlier this year with The Hollywood Reporter, Grimes was asked about Costner's messy departure from "Yellowstone." Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton on the series,...

Taylor Sheridan is not a conventional Hollywood powerhouse. The man essentially runs the entire "Yellowstone" empire himself. He writes most of the scripts without using a writers room and even owns the ranch where a lot of the filming takes place. He's also the main creative force behind the spin-offs and is not afraid to get down and dirty when need be, with whoever it needs to be. To that end, he literally got in a fist fight with one of the stars of his hit Western series the second time they met.
Cole Hauser plays Rip Wheeler on "Yellowstone" and, in the here and now, he and Sheridan are friends. That's not exactly how it started out though. In a 2022 interview with Men's Journal, Hauser explained that the second time he met Sheridan, they got into a tussle. Speaking further, the actor explained that he's been in lots of bar fights in his day,...

Tommy Lee Jones is known to audiences for his authoritative roles in movies during the 1990s. The actor later gained commercial success and fame with his role in the Men in Black franchise. Jones also nabbed an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Fugitive, starring Harrison Ford.

"Yellowstone" is one of the biggest shows of the past decade. Though it started out relatively small on Paramount Network, it grew to become the biggest series on cable television. Taylor Sheridan's tale of the Dutton family led by Kevin Costner has truly gripped American audiences, so much so that it's now a full-blown franchise with several spin-offs - and more on the way. Despite being a part of that ever-expanding franchise, however, legendary actor Sam Elliott isn't exactly a fan of "Yellowstone," and he's not afraid to say so.
The actor, known for his roles in films such as "Road House" and "A Star is Born," starred as cowboy Shea Brennan in "1883," the spin-off that helped launch Paramount+. Elliott was quite happy with that show, which takes place decades before the events of the flagship series. In various interviews though, Elliott has made it crystal clear what he thinks of "Yellowstone.

Either the Dutton family story really is ending with the fifth season of "Yellowstone" (the show's cast just finally confirmed that the flagship show is coming to an end), or Jamie Dutton is going to die. Those are, at least, the two options that make the most sense when it comes to "Yellowstone" star Wes Bentley's latest comments to the press about the last season of the hyper-popular Western drama. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bentley seems to confirm that the Yellowstone extended universe will soon be closing the book on his character, the adopted son of Kevin Costner's John Dutton who's been at odds with the family on and off for much of the series.
"It's one of the biggest things I've ever been a part of, and it's a character that's a double-edged sword," Bentley told EW. He added: "It's both very satisfying to...

The premiere of the final season of Yellowstone is just a little over a month away, but a new featurette reveals the increased security measures taken to ensure that no spoilers were leaked. This will be the first batch of episodes released without Kevin Costner as John Dutton, so clearly, the production wants to keep the ultimate fate of his character under wraps.
The featurette includes cast and crew discussing how “secretive” this final season has been. “On one hand, it was a big family reunion coming back, and on the other, it was a new set of challenges,” said director Christina Voros. “There was a lot of security around the script and the narrative. It’s a huge testament to the intrepidness of the crew, because you’ve learned how to do something a certain way for seven years and all of a sudden to have a new set...

The season five return of Yellowstone is so secretive that not even the cast knows how it’s all going to play out. The show’s stars revealed on Friday that the back half of the season came with redacted scripts so the actors would only know their own lines, eliciting real-time reactions in some cases as they filmed the show’s return, which is in production in Montana and airs later this fall.
“This season has been very secretive,” says Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton, in a revealing video tease released by Paramount Network on Friday (below) that includes interviews with the main castmembers who make up the Dutton family — Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes and Cole Hauser. Star Kevin Costner, who played patriarch John Dutton, famously exited the series ahead of the final run, and how the show will handle his storyline remains under lock and key.

Yellowstone star Cole Hauser is not ready to let go of playing his character Rip Wheeler. Moreover, he is ready for more of the Paramount series even though they just completed filming Season 5B without Kevin Costner.
Now, Hauser is challenging the show’s creator Taylor Sheridan to write Season 6. Here is what he has to say.

Yellowstone is expected to end with its fifth season. However, actress Kelly Reilly has talked about how the series could possibly be revived. That said, the series is still expected to live on in another way.
Reilly Would Stay On For If Series Creator Is Involved
English actress Kelly Reilly plays Bethany “Beth” Dutton on the series. Although it’s believed the series is ending with its fifth season, this might not necessarily be the case for Reilly’s character.
Deadline reported that there had originally been interest in a sixth season featuring Reilly and Cole Hauser, who plays Beth’s love-interest Rip Wheeler. That said, even if the series doesn’t get a sixth season, Reilly suggested there were “talks” to keep the story going.

“It always seems impossible until it’s done,” said Nelson Mandela, and that seems like a fitting quote for the saga surrounding the much-loved TV show, Yellowstone. Things weren't looking too good for "Yellowstone" fans following the news that Kevin Costner would not be returning to the massively popular show. Costner, who played series lead John Dutton, was so integral to the series that his exit seemingly caused the show to collapse altogether, culminating with the announcement that "Yellowstone" season 5, part 2 will be the final installment.
However, recent reports that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are now in talks to star in "Yellowstone" season 6 have given hope to fans of the series. "Yellowstone" is one of the biggest TV shows on the planet, one that dads everywhere gravitate to like moths to a fire. This old-fashioned generational western is full of compelling drama, in-fighting, and beautiful vistas of Montana that have captivated millions of viewers from all corners of the planet. Ever since it debuted in 2018, the world of "Yellowstone" has continued to grow, even to the point where it has lost its initial big name star, Kevin Costner, and replaced him with a seriously impressive roster of celebrities eager to do a modern western — everyone from Harrison Ford to Michelle Pfeiffer are now in the "Yellowstone" universe.
Indeed, with each new spin-off (including the recently announced "The Madison"), the "Yellowstone" project becomes a more daunting watch. While we wait for the final episodes of the main show to arrive, it's as good a time as any to look back at the franchise.

Initially, it was thought that they were going to head over to The Madison, the upcoming Yellowstone sequel, but they may be staying in their old stomping grounds for a time yet now that the family patriarch, John Dutton III is effectively out of the picture.
