You’ve still got “Fuller House,” John Stamos. Rob Lowe, well, update your resume. On Thursday, Fox canceled freshman sitcoms “Grandfathered” and “The Grinder,” as well as animated series “Bordertown.” The network also officially confirmed that “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life” would not be returning, which should be a shock to absolutely nobody. Stamos and Josh Peck starred in the lone run of “Grandfathered,” while Lowe and Fred Savage anchored legal comedy “The Grinder.” The very-low-rated “Bordertown” featured the voices of Hank Azaria, Judah Friedlander and Alex Borstein. Young-skewing comedy “Cooper Barrett” had already been shelved toward the end of its initial order.

Chicago – Voiceover artist Alex Borstein is familiar to TV audiences as the legendary Lois Griffin of “Family Guy,” but she also is a stellar character actress, recently in a role on the HBO series “Getting On.” She is back in the animation saddle with a couple of voiceover parts in the new Fox Network show ‘Bordertown.’
“Bordertown” is created by Mark Hentemann and is produced by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of “Family Guy.” It involves the Buckwald and Gonzalez families in a Southwest desert town on the Mexico-u.S. border, and Alex Borstein voices both the Buckwald mother Janice and her hapless daughter Becky. The show is sharp and funny, with the satire that is familiar to Seth MacFarlane animation fans. “Bordertown” premiered on the Fox Network on January 3rd, 2016, and is now on Sunday nights.

The United States-Mexico border and illegal immigration are very hot topics these days and they're the subject of Fox's newest animated comedy, Bordertown. Will the subject attract viewers or repel them? Will Bordertown be a hit in the ratings or a flop? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
A satirical adult comedy, Bordertown is set in a fictional border town between the Us and Mexico -- Mexifornia. It features the culture, politics, and lives of the neighboring Buckwald and Gonzalez families. The voice cast includes Hank Azaria, Alex Borstein, Judah Friedlander, Nicholas Gonzalez, and Missi Pyle.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day,...

The new year proved not very welcoming to new Fox comedy series Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life and Bordertown. Airing against Sunday Night Football, both series premieres dropped significantly from their lead-ins. Cooper Barreett (1.2 in adults 18-49) at 8:30 Pm followed The Simpsons (2.0, helped by an NFL overrun), while the Seth MacFarlane-produced animated comedy Bordertown (1.1) at 9:30 Pm aired behind MacFarlane’s Family Guy (1.7). Perhaps “Galavant” shouldn’t have come back, after all. The ABC musical comedy premiered to a mere 0.9/2 rating in the main 18-49 demographic, and had just 3.2 million total viewers on Sunday. Those numbers are less than half what the show received from its highly promoted series debut last year, which launched among a full night of originals. Fox’s “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life” and “Bordertown” both faired a little better in the key demo, but the new half-hour comedies had softer turnouts among total viewers. When Bordertown was first ordered over two years ago, with Family Guy veterans Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane holding the reins, the idea of a cartoon dedicated to satirizing immigration issues along the U.S.-Mexico border seemed far from promising. After all, Family Guy has garnered a fair share of (deserved) criticism for its offensive stereotyping of minorities, and there was no reason to expect that the duo’s next small-screen effort would veer away from comparable racism and xenophobia.
So, it’s a relief to report that Bordertown, despite sometimes stooping to pick low-hanging fruit, is actually surprisingly smart and funny, an equal-opportunity offender that energetically rips into every side of the immigration debate while demonstrating enough of an absurdist streak to balance out its snark.

Napoleon Dynamite turns 10 on Wednesday, so we "guess you can say things are getting pretty serious." On June 11, 2004, the delightfully strange tale of an awkward yet confident high-schooler dancing his way through life hit theaters. Made on a budget of $400,000, the film went on to earn $44 million at the box office and has grown into a comedy classic, thanks to its quirky characters, ridiculously quotable conversations and a finicky llama named Tina. The availability of TV shows to binge-watch on Netflix or on-demand TV has made the need to actually adhere to TV schedules far less of a concern than it used to be. No more are we shackled by the restrictions of watching single new episodes of shows a couple of times a week, and with increasing options to distract us from the prestigious prime-time TV slots, show-makers are having to work harder than ever to make sure we commit to new shows in traditional screening formats.

For a decade or so, the schedules Fox announced during upfront week followed a predictable, amusing pattern: one schedule for the fall that would inevitably struggle, another schedule for mid-season built around the dominant presence of "American Idol," and then many, many changes made to that second schedule at a later date due to the struggles of the first. But "Idol" has slipped from being a juggernaut, to being a hit that no longer annihilated everything in its path, to being a solid utility player at best this spring — Fox president Kevin Reilly admitted to reporters on a press conference call that their "Idol" strategy is "not about turning it around," but simply making it a useful piece for the future — and as a result, Fox is finishing up one of its most problematic seasons ever, and didn't even bother announcing a mid-season schedule because they're still tinkering with how...
