"Some Time Soon" is a musical short from MGM starring small-time supporting actors. However, the man playing Prince Boris (Gregory Gaye) was well chosen, as he actually was an expatriate from Russia who left after the revolution. I say well chosen because he plays a prince from some fictional European country who left due to the revolution! However, despite his fancy upbringing, he and his friend are forced to get jobs in a razor factory.
At the same time and factory is a young lady who dreams of some handsome prince whisking her off to live happily ever after. She then impulsively writes a note and shoves it into one of the boxes of razors...and Gregory finds it and wants to impress her. He knows she works at the same place as he does but hopes she won't recognize him when he and his other noble friends dress up and invite her to a party. Unfortunately, the plan backfires...so what's next?
Gaye was a bit actor. But he had a magnificent voice and came by his accent naturally. Overall, the film is charming and sweet...surprisingly so and well worth seeing.
