I watched this film a few months ago and was impressed by the powerful dual story lines. The world of the wandering ronin is its own shade, with a historical/epic feel; the world of the architect in LA has its own feel. Anyone who longs to understand a higher calling than "getting by" will find some interesting proposals expressed here. No one has to agree with all of them, but recognizing that we're meant for more than what we can see and that there's more going on than we often understand? Those are priceless discussion starters if we're honest with ourselves. In the filmmaker's first attempt at narrative storytelling, he's captured the allegory of Story while also generating a tale that feels like real-life, too. (For the record, I love C.S. Lewis and The Princess Bride -- both of which shine direct light on our lives while also depicting a greater world than what seems obvious.)

I enjoyed the 2 parallel storylines throughout this film. It's an interesting plot that is unlike anything else you'll watch. With the added treat of being faith-based, this is one you are sure to love and watch again and again.

Masterless is a tale of the battle of good vs. evil and the journey of faith that we all must personally come to grips with in our lives.
Masterless has a great balance of drama, humor, and action all rolled into one magnificent, well-told story. There are some fascinating ideas developed through the movie that keep you wondering about what the characters will do next.
Another amazing aspect of this film is that the spirit world was digitally created! Once you see the film, you will begin to understand how incredible that is. And I, as sort of a techie, really appreciate masterfully Craig accomplished that feat.
I especially enjoyed the allegorical nature of Masterless. I believe the producer, Craig Shimohara, mentioned there will be a series of short films exploring the allegories of the feature film in more detail. I greatly look forward to that!
I would encourage you to see the movie on the big screen if possible. If not, check out the Blu-Ray/DVD release on 2/2/2016!
