I saw Over the garden wall (2024) for the first time last year and fell in love with the show, truly and incredible feet of storytelling and animation. This is such an amazing tribute and it captures the exact feeling and essence that is Over the Garden Wall
Wirt and Greg waits for Beatrice near a scary tree, reminiscing about their journey thus far.
I think this could be a fun little short for people who haven´t watched Over the Garden wall, but I think it hits a little harder when you love the show and have watched it.
An element I found sad yet great is the fact that Wirt thinks about if they forever will be trapped in the forest. From a story standpoint it´s sad to see him doubt if they will ever get out but from a fan standpoint as in we never really give up on the show and forever watch Greg and Wirt retread their path by rewatching the show over and over made me think there is something hauntingly beautiful in thinking characters live forever for better and worse, but that is only a testament to how much I care for these characters and this show.
This short looks absolutely incredible! The stop motion is done so well and the gloss and otherworldly look captures the essence of Over the Garden wall perfectly. There are a few characters that look a bit too weird and lumpy to me like Beatrice but other than that this is a phenomenal looking shot!
Other than that some good jokes and some fun elements and you have an affective short.
Why did I take this much out of a short like this? I don´t know it just really got to me and I can only say that this short looks, feels and is incredible a short truly worth slapping Over the Garden wall over.

It's difficult to rate this 10th Anniversary special because it's simply so short, but it's pretty much perfect for what it is. Sure, it could be much longer (and it's so gorgeous that surely everyone wants it to be), but it's also a delightful little experience exactly as it is. Crafted with beautifully tactile stop-motion that brings the intricate wood-carved characters to life in a previously impossible way, the tribute instantly transports you to the autumnal expanse of the Unknown and wraps you in a cosy yet somewhat wistful blanket of nostalgia and joy. It's a really nice experience, however brief it may be, that's clearly been put together with a lot of care and attention. There isn't much else to say about it other than it's lovely. If you're looking for a fulfilling narrative extension to the show, you may be disappointed. However, even if they made a whole feature out of this, it still wouldn't be enough. It's aesthetically perfect. My rating is even more arbitrary than usual; it's simply not useful in conveying the effect of this particular piece.
