Right, well I had not heard about this 2021 French horror comedy prior to getting to sit down to watch it. But seeing that it was a zombie-based horror comedy, then of course there was no doubt about me having to sit down and see what writers and directors Julien de Volte and Arnaud Tabarly had to offer.
The storyline was just a bit too silly for my liking, and thus I found very little enjoyment in watching "Super Z". Everything in the storyline was just taken a tad too far, and thus the movie's plot and concept were lost of me. I managed to endure about half of the movie before I gave up. By then I just couldn't take any more of the extreme silly and outrageous things that writers Arnaud Tabarly and Julien de Volte were throwing in my face on the screen.
I didn't particularly like the character gallery much, neither zombies nor living, so not even here was "Super Z" scoring any points.
I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, but then again I don't really watch a lot of French movies to really have a chance of being familiar with any actresses or actors in the French cinema. The acting performances in the movie were fair enough, taking into consideration the ludicrous storyline and the overly silly things that took place on the screen.
Something that definitely worked in favor of "Super Z" was the special effects and the amount of blood, gore and mayhem. And while I am a gorehound, then the storyline was just way past salvaging here, so the gore was hardly capable of doing much to keep the movie afloat.
This movie was a swing and a miss in terms of entertaining me. And there are far better zombie-based horror comedies out there, so I wouldn't recommend you waste your time, money or effort on "Super Z".
My rating of "Super Z" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
