Production design Oscar nominees “Barbie,” “Poor Things,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Oppenheimer,” “Napoleon” all competed for the 28th Art Directors Guild Awards February 10 at Ovation Hollywood’s Ray Dolby Ballroom. “Poor Things” prevailed over “Barbie” for fantasy, and is now in the driver’s seat to win the Oscar. Throughout the season, it has been a race between these two big feminist films constructed around rebirth and unconventional world-building.
Meanwhile, “Oppenheimer” took period honors over “Asteroid City,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Maestro,” and “Napoleon.” Contemporary winner “Saltburn,” though, is not in the Oscar running. The animated feature winner was “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”
The TV winners for one-hour period, fantasy, and contemporary were “The Great,” “The Last of Us,” and “Succession.” Movie or limited series went to “Beef,” and the half-hour series winner was “Reservation Dogs.”

“Saltburn,” “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things” were among the winners at the 28th Annual Art Director’s Guild Awards which took place in Hollywood on Saturday evening.
Hosted by Max Greenfield, the Adg Awards celebrated outstanding production design in theatrical motion pictures, television, commercials, animated features and music videos.
“Poor Things” production designers Shona Heath and James Price drew visual references ranging from the paintings of French futurist Albert Robida to Francis Ford Coppola’s “Dracula” to build Yorgos Lanthimos’ extraordinary sets.
In “Oppenheimer,” Ruth De Jong built Los Alamos from the ground up. But her most challenging task came when she had to build the Oval Office for the film’s third act. Working with supervising art director, Samantha Englander, the two had floated the idea of finding a pre-existing build of the Oval Office. They looked no further than HBO’s beloved political satire “Veep.” Not only was “Veep...

Joseph Luca is opening up about love and life with his new music, and we want Just Jared readers to get to know him better!
The Ojai, Calif.-raised singer-songwriter unveiled the first new EP in his upcoming three-part EP series, Part 1: Ouroboros (Life), in November.
Following previous singles “Nowhere” and “Full Time Lover,” he’s now sharing the audio video for the single, “Green Lights,” a track on which he reminds himself and his audience of the danger in moving too quickly in a new relationship.
“‘Green Lights’ is a song about how dangerous it can be to rush through the excitement of new love. To meet someone who you truly connect with on a deep level is a miraculous gift not to be taken for granted. The song begs two new lovers to take their time through the gift of romantic alignment. Green Lights only appear when the time’s right,...

A lifelong enemy of state censorship, Mehrjui helped kick off the Iranian New Wave with his second feature, The Cow (1969), which was denied an export permit when it was originally completed. “Despite the fact that the film was funded by the Ministry of Culture and Arts, the Pahlavi regime preferred not to have the film’s portrayal of rural Iranian village life color the nation’s desired image of modernity on the world stage,...

Warning: spoilers ahead!
Loki season two, episode one: “Ouroboros” takes place directly after Loki season one finale.
Loki Laufeyson/Variant L1130 (Tom Hiddleston) is sent back by an alternate version of himself named Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) to a past version of the Time Variance Authority headquarters, an organization within the show that monitors the Sacred Timeline.
Sylvie killed the being known as He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) in the season one finale. In doing so, she had created unstable timeline branches in the Sacred Timeline in which the counterparts of He Who Remains would be released and start another multiversal war.
After the Time Variance Authority debates whether or not the branches should be erased, Laufeyson tells his colleague in the first season, Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson), of the danger they are in.
However, Laufeyson cannot stop this inevitable conflict yet as he is “time slipping,” according to...

This post contains spoilers for "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462."
Early in its eight-season run, AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead" crossed over into a 16-part web series, "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462," which followed the breakout of the zombie apocalypse aboard a commercial flight bound for Phoenix, Arizona. In the series, Michelle Ang's character, Alex, is always one step ahead of the other passengers when it comes to dealing with "walkers." She can recognize the signs that a person is infected, knows when to tie them up or lock them in the restroom, and knows where to aim a gun or knitting needle in order to put one down.
In real life, however, Ang was much more in the dark than her character when it came to her place in the "Walking Dead" universe. "Flight 462" premiered in October 2015, the same day that "Fear the Walking Dead" wrapped up its first season.
