Last year, we heard that WolfCop and Another WolfCop director Lowell Dean was heading into production on a post-apocalyptic film called Die Alone, with Frank Grillo (The Purge: Anarchy), Carrie-Anne Moss (the Matrix franchise), and Douglas Smith (Don’t Worry Darling) in the lead roles. That movie is now ready to make its way out into the world, with Quiver Distribution planning to give it a theatrical, digital, and VOD release on October 18th – and today, a trailer for the film has arrived online! You can check it out in the embed above.
Scripted by Dean, Die Alone is “set in a future where society collapses following a catastrophic pandemic” and follows Ethan (Smith), a young man with amnesia, who bands together with Mae (Moss), a rugged survivalist. Under siege from the zombie-like monsters created by the outbreak, Ethan must use Mae’s survival skills to find his missing girlfriend, before...

Christina Ricci is arguably one of the most successful former child actors to have gotten their start in the 1990s, as she has maintained a consistent career since debuting in the film “Mermaids” at the age of 10. Having already played starring roles on the 2010s TV series “Pan Am” and “Z: The Beginning of Everything,” she is now a regular on Showtime’s “Yellowjackets.” Her portrayal of Misty Quigley, a middle-aged nurse who survived a plane crash as a teenager, has given her a popularity boost and could now earn her an Emmy for Best Drama Supporting Actress.

Christina Ricci should be considered a potential surprise Emmy winner in the Best Drama Supporting Actress category for her terrific performance as Misty in “Yellowjackets,” created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. The gripping 10-episode first season with two parallel storylines— one, a high school girls soccer team struggling to live in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash, and two, those survivors decades later navigating their way through the world as adults — was a critical hit for Showtime this past year. The series netted seven Emmy Award nominations, including Best Drama Series and Best Drama Actress for Melanie Lynskey as Shauna, but Ricci is the clear stand-out in an outstanding ensemble cast. As Lorraine Ali says in The Los Angeles Times, “Ricci [kills] in ‘Yellowjackets,’ figuratively and literally.” Why might Christina Ricci win the Emmy? Below are my top four reasons.

This story about Christina Ricci and “Yellowjackets” first appeared in the Down to the Wire: Drama issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
Christina Ricci has made her share of comedies over the course of a career that began when she was a child, but her heart has always seemed to be in darker material like “The Ice Storm,” “Buffalo ’66,” “Prozac Nation” and “The Lizzie Borden Chronicles.” So it makes sense that she’d join the cast of the Showtime limited series “Yellowjackets,” playing one of the survivors of a plane crash that happens to a group of high-school girls in a remote wilderness.
The show, which jumps back and forth between the crash and the grown-up characters more than two decades later, is a dark mystery with lots of disquieting elements — but Ricci’s character, Misty, is an awkward and unsociable woman who often brings a comic touch to the show.

Warner Bros. is launching the sale of 100,000 nonfungible tokens (NFTs) of “Matrix”-inspired avatars later this month. Everybody knows the story of Lizzie Borden. She’s been the subject of rock operas, movies, and TV shows and one very influential nursery rhyme. CBS’s “Lizzie Borden Took an Axe” asks “What if everything told in the past about the famed Lizzie Borden case is wrong?” Erin Moriarty and 48 Hours will investigate the double homicide that captured the nation on Saturday, March 28 at 10 p.m.
The investigative series takes a “fresh look at a very cold case that turns up surprising results” according to the press release. Borden was 32 years old when she was acquitted hacking her father and stepmother to death in 1892. Lizzie became the prime suspect because her sister Emma was out of town and the housekeeper were the only other people in the locked home at the time of the killing. Borden denied having anything to do with the murder but authorities were concerned with her demeanor following the crime.

Christina Ricci knows people judge her. She grew up in the public eye as the Goth girl, the alternative chick, the youthful indie darling. For her, those tacit critiques just provide the excuse to execute another hard turn.

For nearly a decade, actress and producer Chloe Sevigny dreamed of bringing one of America’s best-known tales to the big screen, a Lizzie Borden biopic that delves deep into the psyche and motivations of the notorious (alleged) axe murderer. What became “Lizzie” — directed by Craig William Macneill — bowed at the Sundance Film Festival this past weekend, featuring Sevigny as the infamous maybe-murderer, with Kristen Stewart in a restrained supporting role as the Borden family housekeeper that Lizzie falls in love with. But it’s not the film Sevigny always dreamed of.
In a revealing new interview with HuffPost, Sevigny opened up about the long process to get the film made, and why Macneill’s final product isn’t exactly what she envisioned for all those years. Originally imagined as a miniseries scripted by Sevigny’s long-time friend Bryce Kass, the pair first took the project to HBO, home of Sevigny’s “Big Love,...

The Badlands can be a very dangerous place nowadays.

On January 27, Christina Ricci will make her debut as nm1541232 autoZelda Sayre[/link] Fitzgerald on Amazon's new series Z: The Beginning of Everything, a fictional account of the flamboyant socialite who swept F. Scott Fitzgerald, one of the literary geniuses of the 20th century, off his feet.
“I would never be cast in this part,” Ricci says frankly about playing Fitzgerald on the series, which she not only stars on but co-developed and produces. “With this, I created my own opportunity because this is not a part I would’ve been cast in in a million years.”
Although parts may have beckoned toward a more traditional leading-lady rise to stardom early in her career, Ricci, now 36, has come to terms with the fact that she didn’t fit into that role. “I am not considered a romantic lead by traditional standards,” she says. “I've never been cast in a rom-com or a romance or anything like that. The 2016 SAG award nominations were announced this morning. A few notable names were left off the list (no Jennifer Lawrence) while other categories had pretty much what everyone expected (Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series). Critical favorite "Spotlight" got a few nominations, but missed out on the best actor categories. And "Creed" is nowhere to be seen, despite buzz for stars Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone. In happier news, Idris Elba, Helen Mirren, and Mark Rylance got nominations in multiple solo categories, because the SAG awards just love British people. Elba is nominated for "Beast of No Nation" and "Luther," Mirren for "Woman in Gold" and "Trumbo," and Rylance for "Bridge of Spies" and "Wolf Hall." Mirren and Elba also got a nomination each as part of ensemble casts. So, without further ado, here are your nominees: Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading...

Nominees for the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were unveiled this morning in Hollywood, with a fair amount of surprises to be had. Leading the pack is Trumbo, which picked up three nominations, then a large batch of films behind it with two each: Beasts of No Nation, The Big Short, Carol, The Danish Girl, Room, Spotlight, and Steve Jobs.
Perhaps most surprising is no mention of The Hateful Eight, which has one of the year’s best ensembles. Also of questionable note is the inclusion of Helen Mirren for Woman in Gold, a film all but forgotten (we suppose Harvey Weinstein’s campaigning indeed worked). There’s also the welcome nods to Michael Shannon in 99 Homes and Sarah Silverman in I Smile Back, as well as an ensemble nod to Straight Outta Compton. Check out the full list of nominees below ahead of the ceremony on Saturday, Jan.

Carnivàle's Clea DuVall has taken the hair-raising lead role in USA Network pilot Brooklyn Animal Control.
Brooklyn Animal Control is an adaptation of an Idw comic series about a secret division of the NYPD tasked with policing werewolves.
The project is being developed for the USA Network by Man of Steel's David S Goyer, video game writer Jt Petty (Splinter Cell), Rick Jacobs (Circle of Confusion), David Alpert (The Walking Dead) and Idw's David Ozer and Ted Adams.
DuVall has stepped into the matronly role of Madeleine Holmlund, leader of a New York den of werewolves, reports TV Line.
The 38-year-old actress is no stranger to supernatural drama, having starred in alien flick The Faculty and horror blockbuster The Grudge.
She has also worked on television extensively in Heroes, The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, American Horror Story: Asylum and Carnivàle.

It seems there's something in the air in Hollywood about Lizzie Borden. It was only a couple of years ago that we got the event series "The Lizzie Borden Chronicles" starring Christina Ricci, and now the notorious killer is headed to the big screen, with some big names attached. THR reports that Kristen Stewart and Chloe Sevigny will team up for an untitled movie set to be directed by Pieter Van Hees ("Waste Land"). The story will chronicle the events that led up to Borden's brutal murder of her father and step-mother (with an axe no less), though she was never convicted of the crime. Sevigny will play Borden, with Stewart as the live-in maid Bridget Sullivan who testified at the trial, and who some people allege gave a deathbed confession stating she protected Lizzie by changing her testimony. Crime author Ed McBain also once floating the theory that Sullivan and Borden had an affair,...

A new picture of Christina Ricci posing as Morticia Addams has caused a stir online - and while the actress looks perfect for the role, sadly it's photoshopped.
Ricci looks just at home playing Morticia as she did playing the family's daughter Wednesday back in the '90s, but don't expect to see her star as the Addams family matriarch any time soon.
The photo got Twitter users talking instantly, with many keen to see Ricci star as Morticia for real.
all i have ever wanted was christina ricci to be morticia and then i find out it's photoshopped.
i'm upset
