Featured review
A collection of 21 tasty morsels! This anthology definitely does not lack flavor!
This film is high quality in sound, cinematography, lighting, and acting. However, where it falls short is in its reliance on exhausted tropes at times, and how some of the skits have weak story telling and lack that oomph at the end.
That said, there is such a wide variety in this set of shorts: comedy, psychological, slasher, thriller, and many other genres. They get more right than wrong with these shorts.
Brief Synopses:
1. When They Say You're Alone: A woman is terrorized by spirits when she goes to sleep at night.
2. Knock Knock: A young boy must contend with whatever is knocking on his closet door.
3. Happy Birthday: At a 6 year old girl's birthday party, she receives a new puppy to accompany her current one in his final years.
4. Entity: Two young women moving into a new home discover a strange box in the attic.
5. Bad Eggs: Two hand puppets discuss the cuisine at a fine-dining joint in H. P. Lovecraft's universe.
6. The Screaming: Relaxing in her home, a woman is suddenly disturbed by the sound of ever-approaching screaming.
7. Persephone: A woman wakes up inside of a box underground. But how did she end up there in the first place?
8. Voice: A group of people moving some items into an old building begin to hear a familiar, yet disembodied voice.
* Side Note: this HAS to have been inspired by Lights Out and I Heard It Too, two incredible short films worth watching.
9. Somebody's Watching You: Five girls on a reality show must choose a sacrifice from amongst themselves, or else the choice will be made for them.
10. Trust: Two bros test one another's level of trust by putting each other through precarious and dangerous situations.
11. The Lover: After a woman receives a call from her husband, she struggles to cope with the news she receives.
12. The Creepy Kid in Apartment B: The neighbor's 8 year old son, an oddball with a unique gift, meandors into a woman's apartment.
13. A Dog and His Boy: A dog comes between a man and a woman he loves.
14. Quad: While watching horror films, three young adults are visited by a menacing fourth person.
* Side note: super cool with the four different cameras going at the same time.
15. Let Me Go: While wandering through a theater, a man is haunted by a young female spirit.
16. Mother: A pregnant woman seems to be coming along faster than expected. Even more surprising is what the imaging reveals.
17. Evil Voices Lie: A man watches odd happenings through a tv screen
18. Paramnesia: A couple become engaged when suddenly things go awry.
19. Bitter: Three roommates compete against each other using magic.
* This one is comical.
20. Mr. Hendrix: A sleeping couple wake up to their child speaking of a monster in her closet.
21. The Collection: A beautiful woman visits the home of a eccentric photographer.
