To start, the actress who plays Camilla Ramsey, the PI, isn't very believable. Most of the others actors are so-so. The story of a copycat killer basing his crimes on a book has been done before, and better.
Watchable, but also forgettable, so it's gets a solid 5.

Poor acting/overacting, poor direction, poor writing...poor everything. The title suggests a British film, and such accents would've caused me to add an additional star (I'm a sucker for British accents) but without them there are virtually no redeeming features to this flick other tan the fact that it wasn't longer. If you're looking for a decent mystery, look elsewhere. In fact, if you're looking for entertainment of any kind look elsewhere. Surely you can find something better than this.

"The Kingsbury Run": this nicely directed crime-drama-thriller comes out of Cleveland's independent film movement. Inspired by an old mass-murder spree known as "torso murders", this little film incorporates various elements of cinematic storytelling, such as: pure crime drama, Hitchcock style suspense, and some mainstream action. Very diverse and talented ensemble cast, lead by veteran TV and movie actor Terry Kiser, who delivers one of his best performances ever! The plot points, obstacles, twists and turns - it's all nicely assembled, leading to an unexpected third act resolution that will disclose the "true modern mad butcher" of Cleveland's Kingsbury Run. Produced on a budget well below Hollywood's numbers, "The Kingsbury Run" delivers something you can't find in today's mainstream cinema: the heart and soul of independent filmmaking without predictable endings and mandatory PG13 ratings.

If you seek a typical mindless slasher movie where beautiful young babes gather for an event only to be savagely murdered one by one, then look elsewhere. THE KINGSBURY RUN puts those trashy Hollywood atrocities to shame. Granted, there is blood and gore, but it's used efficiently at crucial points in the film, cleverly woven into a truly satisfying story. Yes, this movie has a "plot", and a damn good one. What starts out like a slasher fest quickly turns into an intense mystery thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Terry Kiser (the mystery man) is truly spooky plus the performances by Branislav R. Tatalovic (the writer/ex-cop) and Deanna Sherman (the private eye) are first rate. I would comment on other actors in the cast yet it might tend to spoil the plot, therefore, make it a point to see THE KINGSBURY RUN. Be prepared for a frightful experience as the "Torso Murders" by the Mad Butcher begin again, years after attempts by Eliot Ness to bring the elusive killer to justice. My hat goes off to the writer, director, editor, cast and crew who truly put their hearts and souls into making this indie thriller one you'll never forget.
