When a video of his mentor's murder surfaces, an investigative journalist takes action to find those responsible.

Ajay Mehra (from previous Ghayal-1990), after finishing off his life sentence, starts a newspaper called Satyakam. Still dealing with the haunting trauma of losing his loved ones, Ajay manages to make a credible name for himself in investigative journalism. Working with a strange team of RTI activists, ex-criminals and ilk; and even stranger ways of unearthing and presenting truth, Ajay Mehra has earned quite a fan following among the youths, who finds his fearless and unforgiving approach in dealing with all kinds of sociopaths very inspiring. Among his die hard fans are these four teenagers who happened to have received bravery medals from him once. These four friends once out on photography expedition, accidentally record a murder on a camera. The footage turns out to be explosive as it clearly shows two of the city's most powerful people involved in the murder. Well what happens after this is a series of twists and turns where the four kids get entangled and have to fight it out with the most powerful men of the city, will Ajay be able to save them? Ajay Mehra after serving is jail term now runs a newspaper Stayakam with his fellow jail inmates who had committed crime due to circumstances he still can't get over the trauma of loosing his loved ones and is under guidance of Dr Riya,Renu a small time reporter was raped by her boss Rajguru and blamed her boyfriend for this Ajay and his team make Rajguru confess his crime and Ajay turns a hero among the youth. Joe Dsouza after retirement has now turned an RTI activist and is very close to Ajay,he soon meets with an accident but four college students Roshan,Varun ,Zoya and Anushka notice that while doing their college project .l Joe Dsouza was murdered and his murder is captured in the frame of their project which was committed by Kabir Bansal son of industrialist Raj Bansal and murder took place in presence of Raj Bansal and Home Minister the four youths want to give the evidence to Ajay Mehra but Raj Bansal gets the news and sends his men to kill them.Ajay Mehra will now do anything to save their lives and get the evidence and give justice to Joe Dsouza.—alex.mjacko@gmail.com

Having served jail time after heroically albeit violently bringing down the criminal empire of Balwant Rai in 1990, Ajay Mehra now works as an investigative journalist with a strong cult following. With his beloved girlfriend Varsha long dead, the only people Ajay can share his greviences with are his consulting doctor Dr. Rhea Mehrotra and his best friend, retired Deputy Commissioner Of Police turned RTI activist Joe D'Souza. However, one day D'Souza mysteriously gets killed in a road accident following a meeting with shady billionaire Raj Bansal who is coming up with a project in the tribal area D'Souza had visited. It's only after a group of mass-com students approach Ajay with incriminating evidence that he realises Bansal's true intentions. Furious, Bansal has the students abducted to acquire a bargain chip against Ajay. What Bansal doesn't realise is that his acts have only galvanized Ajay beyond control as he has nothing to lose and is about to give Bansal an unimaginable nightmare not even the losses of all his business ventures combined would give him.

The film opens with flashbacks of Ghayal. Angry young Ajay Mehra (Sunny Deol) shoots and kills Balwant Rai (who had murdered Ajay's brother) and surrenders himself to upright cop Joe DSouza (Om Puri). Ajay is sentenced to prison. Upon his release he begins a new career as a reporter for an independent newspaper. He doubles as a vigilante who assists the police with their hard-to-prosecute cases (including cases where the accused are prominent and influential members of society).

One such case involves small town reporter Renu (Srijitaa Ghosh) who was drugged and sexually assaulted by her boss, the media baron Rajguru. Renu killed herself and Rajguru's men quashed the matter and implicated her innocent boyfriend. Ajay swings into action and abducts Rajguru and forcibly obtains a DNA swab. Rajguru is arrested. Ajay is a hero, a sensation. (It is revealed that Ajay still suffers panic and anxiety attacks from his painful memories of his past. His girlfriend Riya (Soha Ali Khan), a psychiatrist, helps him with his problems. Joe DSouza has retired and is a social activist. Ajay often collaborates with him and helps him out.

Joe DSouza is killed in a traffic accident near Nandeds. Young blogger Zoya Saigal (Diana Khan) is shocked to discover that Joe was, in fact, shot dead. She had accidentally captured the murder on video, while she was doing wildlife photography in the woods.

Joe was shot by Kabir Raj Bansal (Abhilash Kumar), son of the tycoon Raj Bansal (Narendra Jha). Zoya and her young friends panic and want to take the video to the cops, but Anushka's (Aanchal Munjal) (Zoya's friend) grandfather infers that Raj Bansal had staged the road accident (where 8 other innocent people were killed) and stops them. Bansal is too powerful. It is further revealed that D'Souza had visited Raj Bansal and directly accused him of a land grab. Bansal tried to buy him off, there was an argument, and Kabir Raj Bansal, in a fit of rage, shot D'Souza. The accident was a cover up. Bansal privately realizes that Kabir is still a bratty kid and decides to enroll him into a military school.

On her grandfather's advice Anushka turns the video over to the lawyer Kriplani who quietly returns it to Bansal in order to ensure the children remain safe. But Kriplani's son, Rohan (Shivam Patil), a friend of Zoya, realizes that his father has given up the video and thus urges Zoya to reach Ajay Mehra. As the children hurry to reach Ajay they are intercepted by Bansal's goons (who had intercepted the call and sent goons after her to stop her from meeting Ajay). There is a chase. Ajay saves the children and recovers the video. Riya takes the children to the hospital where they are abducted by Bansal's men.

It is revealed that Anushka is Ajay's own daughter. Kabir tortures the children until Bansal, tired of his son's tantrums, warns him away. Bansal holds Ajay's daughter and releases the other children. He tells Ajay that his daughter will henceforth stay with Bansal in order to ensure the safety of Kabir. Bansal's mother objects but Bansal, locked in moral conflict, waves her away. Bansal orders the Home Minister to arrest Ajay Mehra.

Ajay overcomes the cops and mounts an attack on the Bansal mansion to rescue his daughter. There is a fierce fight. Ajay rescues his own daughter as well as Bansal's daughter who gets trapped in the debris. Bansal capitulates and is arrested along with his son. The film ends as Ajay and his daughter recover in the hospital surrounded by their friends.
