James Woods recently told Megyn Kelly on her SiriusXM radio show that he was “gently” asked not to promote Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” in which he served as an executive producer after buying rights to the non-fiction book (“American Prometheus” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin) upon which Nolan’s screenplay is based. The film was a cultural juggernaut with $975 million worldwide (the highest-grossing biopic in history) and won Oscars for best picture, director, actor, supporting actor and more.
“When ‘Oppenheimer’ came out, there was a discussion about my Twitter, and it was gently suggested that I basically remain invisible, which was painful,” Woods said, claiming that his outspoken support for Donald Trump over the years made him a risk for “Oppenheimer’s” release and awards campaign.
“On the other hand, I’m a pragmatic person and I thought, a lot of people put their effort into this,” Woods continued.

Natasha Leggero has joined the CBS comedy pilot “Broke,” rounding out the show’s three main roles. She joins previously announced stars Jaime Camil and Pauley Perrette.
In the multi-cam, when an outrageously wealthy trust fund baby (Camil) is cut off by his father, he and his wife (Leggero) move into her estranged sister’s (Perrette) Reseda condo, forcing the two siblings to reconnect.
Leggero’s character is named Elizabeth, described as refined and slightly snobby. Despite the slightly elitist mentality, Elizabeth is a loving woman who hasn’t entirely forgotten her humble roots.
Leggero is best known for her stand up career and has appeared on late-night shows such as “Conan,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” and “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” She was also regularly featured as a panelist on “Chelsea Lately” and also on shows like “@midnight.” She and her husband, Moshe Kaser,...

In an unearthed video posted by TMZ on Saturday, rocker and actress Courtney Love talked to comedienne and Dice actress Natasha Leggero about the producer on the red carpet at Comedy Central's Roast of Pamela Anderson in 2005. Leggero, who was interviewing stars on behalf of the cable network, asked Love, "Do you have any advice for a young girl moving to Hollywood?" "Um, I'll get libeled if I say it," Love began. "If Harvey Weinstein invites you to a private party in the Four Seasons, don't go." Several women, including top actresses,...

The Tick is as inherently likable as his name is absolutely unappealing. The big blue superhero of inexplicable origins and incredible strength is more like a lovable puppy than the bloodsucking arachnid found on them. He’s instantly endearing, and the more time spent with The Tick, the more love is felt for the pure-of-heart and utterly clueless crusader.
The Tick doesn’t know anything: where he’s from, how old he is, or even if he’s wearing a costume — the costume might be part of him! (In fact, referring to The Tick as a “he” may not be accurate, either.) But none of that matters. All that matters is justice. He just wants to do the right thing, at all times, while making everybody happy. His perpetual joy is infectious (again, like a puppy) and every time The Tick pops up, you know you’re only seconds away from a smile.

“Dice” Season 2 opens with an “It’s a Wonderful Life” parody.
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Dice” Season 2. Proceed at your own behest, but IndieWire believes “Dice” is not a show that can be spoiled by sharing genre plot details.]
Titled “It’s a Miserable Life,” the premiere shoots into an alternate reality — fitting, given it airs with “Twin Peaks” in Showtime’s Sunday night lineup — after Dice, the character inspired and played by Andrew Dice Clay, is told the world would be a better place without him in it. Specifically, a rabbi screams at him, “The world would be a better place if Andrew Dice Clay had never been born!”
Be it the fervor with which the words are conveyed or the religious status of the rabbi screaming them, Dice is profoundly affected. The next thing you know, he’s waking up in a hotel room, alone, with a whole new life. He’s not a washed-up comedian anymore. He never was one.
Instead, he’s a bespectacled salesman on a trip to Las Vegas to make a...

There is a bizarrely large number of TV shows right now about stand-up comedians. Granted, write-what-you-know is sound advice, but Showtime seems particularly invested in the lives of joke-makers, with “I’m Dying Up Here” chronicling the ’70s stand-up scene launching this summer, and Andrew Dice Clay‘s “Dice” gearing up for a second season. This fall, yet another show about the life of a stand-up arrives with “White Famous,” but it offers up an intriguing twist.
