Plot: An in-depth look at Michael J. Fox’s career and how, many years after his diagnosis with Parkinson’s, he manages the worsening symptoms of the disease.
Review: For those of us who came up in the eighties, Michael J. Fox was right up there with Tom Cruise in that he was the movie star many of us looked up to as the cool older brother we always wanted. Nowadays, people may not realize just how big he was, with him starring in not only the biggest show on TV (Family Ties) but also headlining a slew of movies that were box office juggernauts. Sure, people know that Back to the Future was a phenomenon, but Teen Wolf also made a boatload of cash, and The Secret of My Success was one of the highest-grossing comedies of the eighties. At the time, there was no bigger star.

For a man who has, for the last 30 years or so, found his life defined largely by the fact that his body moves in unwanted and uncontrollable ways, I get the feeling that the last thing Michael J. Fox is actually wants is to be still.
Davis Guggenheim’s documentary biography is formed around a series of interviews with Fox, footage of his day to day life, and narration taken (as is much of the film’s structure) from his first autobiography, Lucky Man. Still strikes me as being about a man who has always wanted to control the way he and his life move. He played sports as a kid, he talks about how he relied on the mobility of his face and his body in order to do his work as an actor; his ability to control those subtle movements a key part of what he he did.

Apple TV+’s documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie sets itself apart from the deluge of celeb documentaries. Yes, it’s a documentary about the actor’s life and his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Some may even approach it thinking they’ve seen a doc like this before. But when you pull away from the film, it feels like you’ve watched a fully-bodied autobiopic about the Family Ties and Back to the Future star.
Oscar-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim and his editor Michael Harte (Three Identical Strangers) pulled off the feat by using moments from Fox’s cinematic canon — Back to the Future, The Secret of My Success and Bright Lights, Big City among other titles — in re-creations of the movie and TV star’s life.

Reaching into Inspector Morse’s past for a prequel series was a gamble that paid off handsomely. Endeavour, which followed the young detective over a seven-year period from constable to detective sergeant in the 1960s and early 1970s, just concluded after nine series. It was an exemplary prequel, beloved by newcomers and by fans of the original Inspector Morse, which it referenced playfully and with imagination.
Endeavour’s success was not a given, nor should it be laid at the feet of simple IP recognition. Prime Suspect 1973, which attempted the same trick by following a younger version of Helen Mirren’s celebrated Dci Jane Tennison, lasted only one series. Young Wallander on Netflix made it to two, but the response has been lukewarm. The 1930s-set Perry Mason starring Matthew Rhys in the lead role is faring better on HBO, but it’s clear that it’s not enough simply to...

Luther’s back. Being banged up at the end of Series 5 didn’t stop that growly genius from taking on a new case and a new villain in Bond-inspired Netflix movie The Fallen Sun. And, since most of his former colleagues were spectacularly killed in the line of duty, the man’s being joined by a fresh cast.
Dermot Crowley returns as John Luther’s former boss Dsu Martin Schenk, who’s joined by Cynthia Erivo as Luther’s replacement on the team, and far from his biggest fan. Going toe-to-toe with Idris Elba’s John will be Andy Serkis as surveillance tech billionaire David Robey, possibly the detective’s darkest foe yet.
And what of Ruth Wilson’s Alice, last seen taking a short drop off a tall tower? She’s not listed among the cast this time, but there’s no saying that wily brainbox won’t find...

After AMC Networks axed a swathe of new content including Demascus, Invitation to a Bonfire and second seasons of Pantheon, Moonhaven and 61st Street, Dan McDermott addressed the challenges facing the television business.
McDermott, President of Entertainment and AMC Studios, admitted the cost-cutting, which included around 400M in content savings as part of a one-time write-down, had been a “difficult but important process”.
“As human behavior continues to evolve, our industry is experiencing an unrivaled period of reflection and correction. Factors including rising inflation, challenging ad market, too many shows, and an over reliance on streaming metrics that don’t necessarily deliver profitability, have caused most content companies, including ourselves, to take stock and recalibrate their forward path,” he said.
McDermott was speaking at AMC’s TCA press tour day, where it was highlighting new series including Bob Odenkirk-fronted Lucky Man, The Walking Dead: Dead City and Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches.

Sandalwood In a shock to fans and the film industry alike, Sandalwood star Puneeth Rajkumar, who is fondly known as ‘Appu’ and ‘Power star’ by fans, suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on October 29 last year.Tnm StaffFacebookOn October 29 last year, fans rushed to Bengaluru’s Kanteerava studios to pay their final respects to late Sandalwood star Puneeth Rajkumar, who was fondly known as Appu or Power star. Many witnessed a similar sight on October 21 this year at ‘Puneetha Parva’, a grand pre-release event held for the star’s last film Gandhada Gudi, where his legion of emotional fans, sang lines from some of the late actor’s most popular songs. ReviewDirector Nagendra Prasad’s ‘Lucky Man’ is a coming-of-age tale centred on the hero’s journey to reclaim his lost life. But in essence, it’s a measured combination of fantasy, comedy and urban romance.ShuklajiYouTubeLucky Man, at the outset, has all the workings of a perfect rom-com. Arjun Nagappa (Darling Krishna), the film’s protagonist, marries his best friend Anu (Sangeetha Sringeri) on a whim, but clearly has feelings for childhood crush Meera (Roshni Prakash). Arjun isn’t happy professionally either and in fact, hates being the ‘quality control’ guy for his father-in-law’s commode business. Stuck in this rut of a romance-less marriage and the squat of an Indian toilet, he now seeks an intervention and voila, God (Puneeth Rajkumar) himself enters in a Bruce Almighty-like fashion to offer him a way out. Lucky Man is an extra special film because it marks Puneeth’s final appearance onscreen...

Exclusive: Allen Leech and India Mullen will lead the cast of an Irish drama series for AMC Networks’ Sundance Now and local broadcaster Virgin Media Television, we’ve learned.
The pair will topline six-part drama The Vanishing Triangle, which goes into production later this year with a U.S.-UK-Ireland production set-up, and Eccho Rights attached as international distributor. The show is inspired on true events that shook Ireland in the 1990s, when several women disappeared. While the characters and events in the series are fictional, the producers have spoken to several of the real life victims’ families, and hope the show will keep their stories in the Irish public’s mind. The show title is regularly used in the Irish media to refer to the events, which began with the disappearance of American woman Annie McCarrick in 1993 and spiraled to involve many similar cases.

Peacock has released a trailer for the new series "Vampire Academy," based on the bestselling young adult novel series of the same name by Richelle Mead. If this sounds familiar to you, it may be because the books were adapted into a 2014 film starring Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry. The new series about St. Vladimir's Academy for vampires -- which will serve as a reboot -- comes to us from some people very familiar with the genre; Julie Plec ("The Vampire Diaries") and Marguerite Macintyre ("The Originals") will serve as showrunners and executive producers, with Plec also directing.

A brand new vampire crew from showrunner Julie Plec is on display in the teaser trailer for Peacock’s supernatural YA drama “Vampire Academy,” which premiered at Comic-Con on Thursday.
In the newly-released clip, Lissa (Daniela Nieves) is currently preparing to take over as the head of the Dragomir family, and in turn, take the throne of the entire kingdom.
She may be absolutely terrified, but she’s also determined to keep her dominion from falling into political chaos. Fortunately, she has the help of her best friend Rose (Sisi Stringer) — a guardian, trained to protect, and willing to do whatever it takes to keep her best friend safe. Even if whatever it takes is “dancing alongside” of trouble..tpd-featured-video.youtube{position:relative;overflow:hidden;width:100;padding-top:56.25}.tpd-featured-video.youtube>iframe{position:absolute;top:0;left:0;bottom:0;right:0;width:100;height:100}.tpd-featured-video.in-content{margin-bottom:2em}
Peacock also dropped several new images from the series — and show art — during the panel.

In today’s Global Bulletin, the English Premier League renews rights deals for three years; Stephen Graham-starrer “Boiling Point” sells wide; Nent Group sets terrorism drama “Red Election”; Endeavor Content strengthens management team; and Alchimie and All3Media International launch SVOD channel Inside Outside in the U.S.
The English Premier League soccer championship has agreed a proposal for a three-year renewal of U.K. live and non-live broadcast agreements with Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime Video and BBC Sport.
The rights deal worth £5 billion ($7 billion) was agreed in 2018 and will now be rolled over from 2022-2025.
This follows approval in principle for the renewal from the U.K. government after a period of consideration where the League cited the damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Enabled by an exclusion order from the government, the League will conclude the renewals without the normal broadcast rights tender process.

Set in the very near future where scientists have discovered a method of matching people with their perfect romantic fit using DNA, eight-part Netflix Original The One is technically a sci-fi drama. Really though, it’s a crime thriller revolving around the murky circumstances in which the cash cow company behind the matching service was created. Written by Misfits and Crazyhead creator Howard Overman, The One is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by John Marrs. It’s a cat-and-mouse game between wealthy, driven CEO Rebecca (Hannah Ware) and police detective Kate (Zoë Tapper).

BlogSeveral landmark films released in 1995, from comedies to hard-hitting dramas and action flicks.Nandhu SundaramI am eternally grateful to Kollywood for making 1995 quite a delightful year. It was blockbuster time with Rajinikanth's Baasha leading at the box-office. Landmark films such as Bombay, Sathi Leelavathi, Kuruthipunal and Muthu added to the allure of the flickering image. Gnana Rajasekaran’s Mogamul won him the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film for a Director. IV Sasi’s Kolangal and Nasser’s Avatharam, one of my favourites, won big at the Tamil Nadu State Awards and further cemented the place of the auteurs. The list of good films didn’t end here — Indira and Aasai made the cut too. All these films have seen 25 years since release. I also remember unabashedly enjoying lesser films like Makkal Katchi, a rip-roaringly funny political comedy from film student turned director R K Selvamani, which had me in splits.
