BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the BBC, has set a content deal with Mx Player, India’s largest AVOD service, which also has a strong reach across Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Pakistan. The partnership kicks off with Simon Allen‘s “The Watch,” a series inspired by the characters in Terry Pratchett’s bestselling “Discworld” novels, which follows an unlikely group of misfits, The City Watch, who are forced to find the guts to save the world, surprising even themselves in the process; and “Line of Duty” creator Jed Mercurio‘s “Critical,” set in a major trauma center that only deals with the most serious cases, following an emergency medical team that battles through the vital first hour of care to save lives that hang in balance.
Mx Player has 300 million monthly active users globally and has achieved the one billion download milestone.

Great news, Critters — the long wait for "The Legend of Vox Machina" has nearly reached its end. The animated fantasy series (based on Critical Role's first Dungeons & Dragons campaign) was once expected to grace our screens in late 2020, but pandemic delays put production a year behind schedule. Now Prime Video has announced plans to debut the series a week earlier than expected, on January 28, 2022. For fans of the web series, this means a chance to finally see the beloved characters in action, a crew of unlikely heroes banding together in all their chaotic glory....

Gear up for some boozin’ and brawlin’ animated adventuring, Critters: “The Legend of Vox Machina” series from Critical Role will storm onto Amazon Prime Video next February.
Season 1 of “The Legend of Vox Machina,” an adult animated fantasy-adventure series based on Critical Role’s first Dungeons & Dragons campaign, is scheduled to premiere Feb. 4, 2022, exclusively on the Prime Video streaming service worldwide. Amazon Studios has ordered a total of 24 episodes across two seasons.
Amazon announced the premiere date at a virtual New York Comic Con panel Friday with the founders and cast of Critical Role. Exclusive: CAA has signed Kimberlé Crenshaw, the cofounder and executive director of the African American Policy Forum, a gender and racial justice legal think tank.
Crenshaw is a leading authority on civil rights, Black feminist legal theory, and race, racism and the law.
She is also the founder and executive director of the Center for Intersectionality and Social Policy Studies at Columbia Law School; the Promise Institute Professor at UCLA Law School; and the Isidor and Seville Sulzbacher at Columbia Law School.
Crenshaw is popularly known for her development of “intersectionality,” “Critical Race Theory,” and the #SayHerName campaign, and was recently named the most-cited woman legal scholar in law.
She hosts the podcast Intersectionality Matters!, and since March has moderated the webinar series Under The Blacklight: The Intersectional Vulnerabilities that the Twin Pandemics Lay Bare, which has convened almost 20 times to discuss the intersection of pre-existing inequalities, opportunistic disease, and police violence.

Leading Hollywood visualization studio The Third Floor (Ttf) has opened its first Beijing office. It seeks to create a hub in China on par with its other main outposts in Los Angeles and London that will cater primarily to local projects.
Ttf specializes in the pre-production process of pre-visualization, or pre-viz, which uses digital tools to plan complex film and TV projects shot by shot. The firm is known for its work on titles like HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame” and Alfonso Cuaron’s “Gravity.”
Its new Beijing outpost will be led by Maggie Lu, who comes off years in the theme park side of the entertainment business with stints at Dalian Wanda and Dalian Haichang. She will command a staff of around 20, many of whom have been in training for the past year both in China and Los Angeles.
