Batman : You're not in it like I am, Barbara. It's still a game for you, it's still a thrill. You haven't been taken to the edge yet.
Batgirl : The edge of what?
Batman : The abyss, the place where you don't care anymore. Where all hope dies. We're done here. You're off the case.
Batgirl : No! This isn't over. You can't dismiss me with some metaphysical BS. Why are you doing this?
Batman : I told you.
Batgirl : Uh-uh. We've been up against worse threats than Paris Franz. This isn't about me, it's about us. It's about you getting protective and sitting in judgment. I won't have it!
Batman : Then get out.
-
Barbara Gordon : Why are you doing this?
The Joker : To prove a point.
-
Barbara Gordon : I saw that abyss you spoke about... very scary, but so tempting. I don't know how you resist it. I don't think it's humanly possible after a while. Be careful.

[Batgirl has Batman pinned down. She suddenly stops and notices the position she's in. She stares down at Batman, then begins passionately kissing him. Batman hesitates, then wraps his hands behind her back. Batgirl slowly sits up. As she does, Batman touches her butt. She takes her mask and cape off. The camera pans up as she takes off her top, exposing her bra. It then cuts to the next morning. Barbara is in her bathroom, in her tank top and undies. She stares at her reflection]
Barbara Gordon : Barbara Kathleen Gordon, what the hell have you done?
-
Commissioner Gordon : [scrapbooking old articles about the Joker] Look at this one. First time they met. He was just robbing banks then. You remember?
Barbara Gordon : What I remember is you describing his white face and green hair. I was just a kid, scared the hell out of me.
Commissioner Gordon : I thought you'd be interested.
Barbara Gordon : Yeah, well, I had some really interesting nightmares.
[opening the front door, she sees the Joker with a revolver in hand, and she's thrown backwards as she's shot]
Commissioner Gordon : Barbara!
The Joker : I wouldn't worry yet, if I were you. It's just a psychological manifestation, common among librarians. She thinks she's a coffee table edition, though I can't say much for this volume's condition. I mean, there's a hole in the jacket and the spine appears to be damaged.
Commissioner Gordon : You scum! I'll...
[as he picks up a pair of scissors, one of the Joker's thugs slugs him in the face]
The Joker : [as he talks, they continue to beat on Gordon behind him] Will you? Refreshing to hear, not by the book. Speaking of which, this one won't be walking off the shelf anytime soon. In fact, the idea of her walking anywhere seems remote. But then, that's always a problem with softbacks. Oh, God, literary discussions can get so dry, can't they? Finish the Commissioner, take him where he needs to be and please, do be careful. After all, he is topping the bill. It really is a shame you'll miss your father's debut, Ms. Gordon. Sadly, our venue wasn't built with the disabled in mind.

[first lines]
Barbara Gordon : First of all, I realize this is probably not how you thought the story would start, not with a big shiny moon or a city that could look stunning in spite of itself... Or me. But I wanted you to know before the horror began, before it all came crashing down, there was a time when capes and cowls and fighitng crime really was exciting.
-
Barbara Gordon : You know, I found that Catwoman scrapbook you couldn't. It was behind the wardrobe. You really ought to let me work out a filing system for you, something like we use at the library.
Commissioner Gordon : [not really listening] Mm-hmm.
Barbara Gordon : Oh, look. You've got paste squidging out. Don't get it on your pants.
Commissioner Gordon : Barbara, I swear, you're fussier than your mother was.
-
[mid-credits scene]
Barbara Gordon : [returning home] Yeah, dad, I just got back from the lacrosse game. Going to practice some wallball this weekend.
[seeing a slanted framed picture, she throws a ball at it to straighten it]
Barbara Gordon : Getting pretty good. Maybe another night, dad. I got plans tonight. I can't help it if your daughter's so popular. I'll talk to you later.
[hanging up, she enters a secret room; computers power up, and the Oracle logo appears on one screen as she puts on a headset]
Barbara Gordon : Right, then. Back to work.
-
Commissioner Gordon : Barbara, it's Dad.
Barbara Gordon : Oh, hi, dad. How's your day?
Commissioner Gordon : Not over yet, unfortunately. I'm sorry, honey, but I won't be able to make it tonight. Something's come up.
Barbara Gordon : Are you all right?
Commissioner Gordon : I'm fine. There's nothing for you to worry about. A friend asked me for a favor.
Barbara Gordon : A friend?
Commissioner Gordon : Yes, honey, that friend.
-
Batman : [at Barbara's hospital bedside] Barbara... I don't know if you can hear me.
Barbara Gordon : [waking up] Batman? Batman. He took Dad, he... oh, god! I remember.
Batman : Barbara, take it easy. It's okay.
Barbara Gordon : No, no, it's not okay. He's taking it to the limit this time. You didn't see his eyes. He said he wanted to... to prove a point. Said dad was top of the bill. What's he gonna do? What's he gonna do to my father?
-
Reese : So, you and yoga guy?
Barbara Gordon : Yeah, a few nights ago.
Reese : Girl, you've been holding out. How was it? Not so good?
Barbara Gordon : No, it was fantastic. Like fireworks.
Reese : Yeah?
Barbara Gordon : Except he's been avoiding me. At least, I think he is. We haven't talked.
Reese : I've been to that dance.
Barbara Gordon : Maybe it was too soon, even after all this time.
Reese : Talk to him, Babs. Some guys need a period of adjustment. They get nervous about commitment. He's only human, right?
-
Batgirl : How long was I out?
Batman : A few minutes. Apparently, I got there right after they left. You should have waited for me.
Batgirl : They were on their way out. I had to do something.
Batman : His name is Paris. Paris Franz.
Batgirl : [choking on her coffee] You're kidding?
[seeing his look]
Batgirl : I guess not.
Batman : Your father gave me his file. He's a nasty combination of narcissist and sociopath. He'll have you smiling right up to the moment he cuts your throat. I haven't had to deal with his type of crazy in a while. I don't want you to, either.
Batgirl : What are you saying?
Batman : Don't go near him without me.
Batgirl : Excuse me?
Batman : No matter what.
Batgirl : We're not exactly attached at the hip.
Batman : We are on this. You want to work with me, you do what I say.
Batgirl : And that's it? You speak and the words are law?
Batman : Yes.
-
Reese : Darker men, huh? Barbara, why didn't you tell me? I have a cousin who's a defense attorney.
Barbara Gordon : Ooh, Reese, not that dark.
Reese : [sing-song] He's single.
Barbara Gordon : Well, that lights him up a bit, doesn't it?
Reese : Babs, girl, I-I do not understand why you're having fishing troubles when we are in the middle of a lake. What do these guys have to do to get your attention? Steal a book?
Barbara Gordon : It just so happens I'm involved with someone. Sort of, kind of.
Reese : That serious, huh?
-
Batman : Negotiating?
Batgirl : He wasn't gonna hurt me.
Batman : Did he know that?
Batgirl : Sometimes, you have to have a little faith.
Batman : What happened to the drivers?
Batgirl : They got away. But the night's still young.
Batman : [waking the thug up with a smelling salt] I'm gonna need some alone time.
Batgirl : Oh, sure, yeah. Maybe I'll see you...
[as she leaves, she hears the thug screaming]
Batgirl : ...later.
-
Paris : [fighting Batgirl] It's like a dance.
Batgirl : [wiping blood from her mouth] Yeah, right.
Paris : Too bad we can't sit this one out.
Batgirl : I don't waste my time with punk amateurs.
Paris : Oh, baby, I think you've misjudged me.
[spraying something in her face]
Paris : Smells like cherries, huh? You've got maybe ten seconds to bedtime, baby. Can't end the night without a kiss.
[she knees him in the groin]
Paris : [drawing a gun] You'll never make it to the door, Batgirl.
[the vault door shuts and locks]
Paris : Smart girl.
-
Batman : You let him play you. He thinks he knows you, like there's some kind of relationship going. He led you like a lap dog.
Batgirl : Bull. I knew what I was doing. I was on the hunt, same as you.
Batman : No, you were trying to prove something. You let your ego cloud your judgment. You should've listened to me.
Batgirl : I thought we were partners.
Batman : We are. But we're not equals; not even close.
-
Paris : Batgirl, I'm afraid I didn't get your number. So I'm sending this video to the police to give to you. They've got to be good for something. You may have heard that I've come into some family money. I told you I'm no punk. In fact, I got you a gift. Something special for my special girl. Just go back to where we met. You'll see.
Batgirl : [the video ends] Cute.
Batman : It's not cute. It's a trick.
Batgirl : I know, but it is a little flattering.
Batman : No, he doesn't know you. He's objectified you. When a criminal gets personal like that, it's bad news. You're off this one.
Batgirl : What?
Batman : I don't want you on this case.
Batgirl : At all? So, he likes me; we can use that.
Batman : He's not afraid of you. I want him nervous.
[getting into the Batmobile]
Batman : The place you met was at that warehouse, right?
Batgirl : Yeah. Where are you going?
Batman : Your father and his men are already canvassing the place. I'll let you know what we find.
Batgirl : Hold on, we're not done.
[the canopy closes and he speeds away]
Batgirl : No, wait. Wait!
-
Batgirl : Is this the gift? 'Cause I thought I was a little more special.
Paris : You are, baby. But the real gift's somewhere else. Girls like scavenger hunts, don't they?
Batgirl : Is this gonna take long?
Paris : [cut to her landing on a building's window sill] Careful getting in. I don't own this place yet.
[entering through the window, she opens a door and walks down a hallway, and stops at another door]
Paris : You're getting hot. Hotter. Whoa, you might have to call the fire department.
-
Reese : Let me understand. You're seeing a guy, but not really dating.
Barbara Gordon : Right.
Reese : In a yoga class.
Barbara Gordon : Basically.
Reese : And he's, like, the instructor?
Barbara Gordon : Right.
Reese : And he's making demands?
Barbara Gordon : He's always been controlling. Usually, I'm okay with it.
Reese : But there's no sex?
Barbara Gordon : God, no!
Reese : And you're into him because...?
Barbara Gordon : Because of the yoga. I like the yoga.
Reese : So, find another class.
Barbara Gordon : There is no other class, Reese. This is it. And I'm good. He won't say it, but I'm the best damn student he ever had. So if he's gonna start making decisions based on emotions, of which he has zero, then I think we've got a problem!
Reese : [to himself as she storms out] And they say the gay scene is complicated.
-
Reese : What are you doing?
Barbara Gordon : My dad's department has been setting up city cams. I've been helping with the program. It's amazing. You can view half of Gotham from your computer.
[clicking through cam footage, she spots and recognizes Paris]
Reese : Looks like a bad boy, just your type.
-
Batgirl : Nothing on cable tonight, so I thought I'd get out and get some exercise. Tell me, how's Paris these days?
Batman : He's on the move. We got a tip he might be hiding out at the docks. That's where I am right now.
Batgirl : That wouldn't be an invitation, would it?
Batman : No.
Batgirl : I was just kidding, but I'm not that far away.
Batman : [firmly] No.
Batgirl : But what about after you get him? What then? Are we back in business?
[silence]
Batgirl : Oh, come on!
Batman : We'll talk later.
Batgirl : It was just sex, for God's sake. It doesn't have to mean anything. It's not like we have to care. I don't care. You don't care. We just go back like it was. That's all. Please.
Batman : Later.
-
Batgirl : Where's the gift?
Paris : Come on, look around. You're the girl detective.
[seeing a pool of blood under a door, she opens it to find his uncle dead]
Paris : For you, my love.
Batgirl : Do you realize what you've done? He was the biggest boss in Gotham.
Paris : He was an artifact. He went out with phone booths and the porkpie hat. I'm the next evolution, baby. Today, it's all about brains and nerve and tech. That's how I got his money, and that's how I'm going to get you.
Batgirl : You might have to get in line.
-
Barbara Gordon : [narrating] I'd been with Batman for almost three years. That night, my father signaled for him, so something was up. I tend to stay out of these discussions. I mean, why push my luck?
Batman : [calling on comms] You there?
Batgirl : Yeah.
Batman : [swinging away with his grappling hook] We've got a robbery.
