Opening up to works from over the whole of Latin America, this year’s Sanfic Industria Series Lab will highlight series currently in development from Uruguay’s Fernando Epstein, Argentina’s Laura Farhi and Peru’s Paola Terán.

Epstein’s “The Invisible Ink” proved one of the big winners at June’s Conecta Fiction, marking the first TV work from the renowned Uruguayan film producer.

Penned by Farhi, a writer on “Soy Tu Fan,” “Soy Luna” and “Intertwined,” “The Big Leap” won the Filmarket Hub 2022 International TV Pilots Contest.

Terán, an assistant editor on Diego and Daniel Vega’s Locarno Fest winning “El Mudo,” will direct “Nobody Rests At Home.”

The eight works selected for this year’s Series Lab will be announced during a Puc Film Festival Lima press conference on Monday.

WarnerMedia Latin America has unveiled its first two original Latin American productions for HBO Max: Argentine freestyle battle series “Días de Gallos” and Mexico’s “Bunker,” billed as a half-hour acid comedy.

The series, both in production and made exclusively for HBO Max, were revealed on Friday, just a day after WarnerMedia announced that HBO Max will roll out in late June in 39 territories across Latin America and the Caribbean as the premium direct-to-consumer platform’s first launch outside the U.S.

The series announcement also allowed Tomás Yankelvich, WarnerMedia Latin America chief content officer – general entertainment, to underscore the ambition, range and intended reach of WarnerMedia Latin America original productions for HBO Max. These will take in series and feature films, both scripted and unscripted, as well as children’s programs plus animation for a variety of tastes and audiences of all ages, Warner Media said in a statement.

Disney Plus, which launches Tuesday across Latin America, will see the U.S. streaming giant dive into local production, ramping up its already muscular original production output in the region, Disney Latin American executives said at a MipCancun Online panel on Tuesday.

Concurrently, Disney Kids’ young adult and family programming looks set to add slightly edgier shows to its world-beating lineup, and National Geographic will continue to sport more contemporary shows in Latin America, the executives added.

The global streaming platform already has 70 original shows in development in Latin America — Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia, its four biggest markets — Disney Plus said in a press statement on Tuesday.

Tgif! At long last, the weekend is here, bringing with it a wide range of new content across the major streaming services. Disney Plus, in particular, dropped a whole bunch of shows and movies that are sure to appeal to all audiences, while it looks like it’ll be another busy weekend for Netflix after releasing their heavy hitter, Tom Holland’s The Devil All The Time, on Wednesday, as they’re following it up with a few big TV shows.

It’s Friday, and Disney Plus has delivered its usual healthy dose of new titles to keep you Mouse House lovers going through the weekend. Last week was a bit of an anaemic haul coming after the high of Mulan and other titles arriving on September 4th, but this batch dropping today – September 18th – is a lot weightier. This past Friday only brought a handful of new titles to Disney Plus, but the coming week will deliver a much bigger haul to the streaming service. In total, subscribers have 14 new movies and TV shows to look forward to checking out once they’re added to the site on Friday, September 18th.

The biggest original release dropping that day is Becoming, a new 10-part series in which celebrities take us through their starts in life and how they got to where they are today. Each episode centers on a different famous face, including former Disney star Ashley Tisdale, comedian Nick Kroll and basketball player Candace Parker.

Disney+ UK has unveiled its September content schedule, and the big centrepiece – as you may have guessed – is the premiere of Mulan, which will skip its UK cinema release after a controversial decision by Disney bosses, who previously hadn’t been very keen to put their upcoming big budget projects on the streaming service during 2020’s ongoing madness.

The unveiling of the highly anticipated live-action Mulan movie on Disney+ seems to be a first step towards bypassing cinemas for the foreseeable future, and it will be interesting to see how successful the gambit is with a price tag of £19.99 attached to the experience. The film certainly has a strong cast, with Liu Yifei as Mulan, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li, and Jet Li in a supporting role.

If the reviews are strong, funnelling Mulan straight to streaming globally in exchange for some extra cash from subscribers...

Disney+ is out with its list of everything new coming in September, and the list includes new episodes of “Muppets Now” and “One Day at Disney.”

Also, Disney+ subscribers can pay an additional $29.99 for early Premiere Access to the new live-action “Mulan” movie several months before its wide release.

Library titles being added next month include “Bend It Like Beckham” starring Keira Knightly and Season 2 of “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted.”

After successfully bringing movie theater fare like Artemis Fowl and Hamilton to the smaller screen, Disney+ is going to attempt its most ambitious movie streaming experiment yet in September.

Disney+’s list of new releases for September 2020 is highlighted by the inclusion of Mulan. Originally scheduled to premiere in March, the live-action adaptation of the classic Disney animated movie was one of the first coronavirus scheduling casualties. Now, after a long wait, Disney is making the movie available (for $29.99) to Disney+ subscribers.

In addition to that big swing, Disney+ is has some other intriguing originals set for September. Alien talk show series Earth to Ned premieres on September 4 and the LeBron James-produced reality series Becoming arrives on September 18.

Disney+ is also set to pad out its library titles. The big movies of note here include two Mighty Ducks sequels, The Wolverine, and Bend it Like Beckham. Season 2 of Gordon Ramsay...

The full line-up of everything that’s coming to Disney Plus next month has been revealed. September will prove to be a hugely important one for the streaming service, too, thanks to the release of Mulan. Dropping on the first Friday of the month, the live-action remake of the classic animated movie is breaking the mold by going up on D+ alongside a limited theatrical release. As you probably know, though, you’ll have to fork out an additional $30 to watch it, as part of a new Premier Access level to the site.

Mulan is the most headline-grabbing addition to the service next month, then, but there’s plenty more besides that coming to D+ in September. Including a few classic Disney movies, a bunch of others inherited from Fox, various National Geographic documentaries and much more.

It’s no secret that Disney+ launched with a truckload of exciting content.

From Pixar to Marvel Studios, Star Wars to the treasure trove of Disney classics – Mary Poppins! Toy Story! Lady and the Tramp! More! – early adopters were (and indeed are) somewhat spoilt for choice when signing up to a Disney+ subscription.

And while original series like The Mandalorian have been stealing all the headlines, The Hollywood Reporter recently crunched the numbers to reveal that Disney+ subscribers are watching more of the company’s classics films than recent offerings from Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios. So, yes, 22 percent of users are turning to the archives, compared to Star Wars (21 percent), Marvel (15 percent), Pixar (14 percent), Disney Channel (9 percent), and The Simpsons (5 percent).

Madrid —New school term, new mystery. Beautiful young bodies still make out, in ever more surprising combinations, in “Elite” Season 2.

But there are greater depths and ambition to the Netflix Spanish high-school hit, if the first two episodes of Season 2 and a Madrid press conference involving cast and creators are anything to go by.

First details of “Elite” Season 2 come as the series has been renewed for Season 3, Diego Avalos, director of originals in Spain, announced at the Thursday presentation.

Season 2 follows a tried and tested flash forward format. In the first season of “Elite” someone is murdered. In Season 2, someone goes missing. As the hours tick by – 36 at least by the end of Ep. 2, – hope of finding them alive plunges dramatically.

That set-up gives the suspense thrust to “Elite” Season 2, the Spanish teen crime/social thriller which, produced once more by Zeta Audiovisual, bows on Netflix worldwide on Sept.

At last week’s L.A. Screenings Incaa, Argentina’s National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts, announced a new $2.6 million annual initiative intended to foster growth in international TV and digital platform co-productions.

According to an Incaa release, the initiative is aimed at luring producers, broadcasters and platforms to work along with Argentine co-producers on projects either totally or partially produced within the country’s borders.

Selected projects will be eligible to receive funding up to 50% of their production spend in Argentina, with a cap of $248,000. To qualify, a project must spend a minimum of $260,000 in Argentina.

The ceiling is quite low for international production rebates, the 50% rebate rate very high. Additionally, any qualifying project must dedicate a minimum of 30% of its total Argentina budget to salaries or social charges which go to technical and artistic crew members who live in the country.
