Ethan Hawke is the fourth actor to have portrayed Nikola Tesla in a feature film after David Bowie in The Prestige (2006), Nicholas Hoult in The Current War (2017), and Petar Bozovic in The Secret of Nikola Tesla (1980).
Was intended to be shot on 35mm film but due to the low budget and some of the producers, the filmmakers had to resort to digital.
This is the third time Ethan Hawke and writer/director Michael Almereyda have worked together. The other two are Hamlet (2000) and Cymbeline.
First movie Ethan Hawke and Josh Hamilton have starred in together since Alive (1993) other than having cameos in Hawke's 2018 film, Blaze.
