In 2015, Netflix acquired the indie horror film “Circle,” which saw 50 strangers trapped in a room and forced to decide who would be the one survivor through a series of votes and debates about the worth of each human life.
Nearly a decade later, with the “12 Angry Men”-inspired project having become something of a cult hit, two producers of the film have reunited to create a sequel, “Circles.” Per the official logline, “17 years after being pawns in a cruel game of psychological warfare, the survivors of an invasion face a new threat.”
Michael Nardelli, who starred in “Circle” as lone survivor Eric, and Brent Stiefel are re-teaming to produce the sequel. Devon Graye is writing the film, which is financed and entering production later this year.

Amazon on Thursday revealed the next four films to be released next year as part of its “Welcome to the Blumhouse” series. The first four genre movies in the collection launched on Prime Video this month.
Just like the first four films of the program, the next group represents four unique stories that are connected by common themes, including institutional horrors and personal phobias. The “social thrillers,” as Amazon terms them, are helmed by up-and-coming directors.
“Coming off the successful launch of the first four films of the program, which has surpassed our expectations, we are excited to reveal the next chapter coming in 2021,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “The spine-tingling, edge of your seat thrills continues in this next collection of titles that will surely entertain, surprise and shock our global customers.”
The first four in the Blumhouse series are a mixed bag, with IndieWire’s best review going to “Black Box.

Entertainment industry scion Zelda Williams, actor daughter of late, great and audaciously zany comedian and actor Robin Williams, listed an extensively restored and updated 1928 Mediterranean villa just above L.A.’s Bronson Canyon for $3.2 million. The 29-year-old avid gamer, who wrote, produced, directed and performed one of the episodes of the upcoming anthology horror series “Dark/Web,” hopes to just about double her money on the picturesque hillside property she picked up in 2011 for $1.876 million. Graced with period details and brimming with modern conveniences, the approximately 3,400-square-foot residence is approached by a long driveway shared with one other neighboring home and the three-story, white stucco and terra-cotta tile roofed residence, with five bedrooms and four bathrooms plus a studio-style attached guesthouse, has vivid turquoise trim work around the windows and a whimsical black and white awning over the front door.

On Monday, July 16, HBO will debut the highly-anticipated documentary Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind. The film is set to explore the life and career of the beloved comedian, who tragically died on Aug. 11, 2014, of apparent suicide. It was later revealed that Robin Williams was suffering from Lewy body dementia. The actor was 63. One thing that people may not realize is that Robin is survived by three adult children: Zak, Zelda, and Cody. According to a press release from HBO, an in-depth interview with his oldest son, Zak, will be included in the documentary.
Born on April 11, 1983, Zak is 35 years old and is the only child that Robin had with his first wife, Valerie Velardi. In 2008, Zak married Alex Mallick, the executive director of Re:store Justice, and an advocate of criminal justice reform. Unlike his father and siblings, Zak isn't part of the showbiz community, although he did star in 2008's The Graduates.

Is it harder to direct a movie or write a movie? It’s a debate as old as time in the filmmaking community and a question with no easy answers. Scott Derrickson, best known for directing and co-writing “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” and Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” recently shared on Twitter his opinion that “writing is harder than directing,” which courted rebuttals from “Kong: Skull Island” director Jordan Vogt-Roberts and “Guardians of the Galaxy” filmmaker James Gunn (via /Film).
“I appreciate the ‘humility’ but I can’t imagine a more binary statement in a field full of complexities,” Vogt-Roberts replied. The director later added: “We live in an age when people have forgotten what truly spectacular directing looks like. The original statement is an over simplification of an entirely unnecessary debate.”
Gunn weighed in by explaining that “good writers may be more rare than good directors,” but that directing...
