Chris had previously previously been diagnosed as brain dead, when his mother picked up his hand from the hospital bed. She was waiting for the oldest son to arrive. Chris grasped his mother's hand when she picked up his hand then he let his fingers relax. He wouldn't have been able to do this if he was brain dead.
