If you’re anything like this TV Fanatic, you were blown away by the first half of the premiere season of Matlock. To be fair, we had high expectations — the show just exceeded them.
It’s no wonder Kathy Bates is an Oscar and Emmy-winning actress. Can you imagine how excited the executives at CBS must’ve been when they landed a star as talented and prestigious as Miss Bates?
Since the start, Matlock has consistently kept viewers on their toes with twists and turns in every episode. The show is a buffet of quality writing and impressive acting skills.
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
This Report Card gave me a run for my money because it was hard to pick the “best” and “worst.” However, after careful consideration, I think we can all agree with the results.

While Matlock is a series known at this point for pulling at the heartstrings, Matlock Season 1 Episode 5 had the waterworks on full blast. There were happy tears, sad tears, and even some confused tears.
Despite so many heartwarming and wrenching moments, love seems to be in the air. Some viewers may finally get their wish for Sarah to loosen up.
As great as that all is, there’s still the matter of Matlock’s plan to take down Jacobs & Moore, and Madeline Kingston just made great strides in her strategy.
(Robert Voets/CBS)
With all the investigation and clue searching, you’d think Olympia would pick up on what’s right in front of her face. I mean that literally because Julian appears to be around every corner.
Mount Olympia Might Be Too High And Mighty To See What’s Right In Front Of Her
We’ll get to the case in a moment.

Niecy Nash-Betts has no appetite for horror. So it’s hard to fathom her decision to star as an alcoholic detective in the FX horror series Grotesquerie, which opens with a murdered family hogtied and stuffed like a roasted pig. But presented with an irresistible script by Ryan Murphy — with whom she’s collaborated four times since 1999 — and taking on an executive producer role as well, how could she say no?
The show, which concluded last week, follows Nash-Betts’ heavy-drinking detective Lois Tryon, who recruits a nun (Micaela Diamond) to...

Well, well, well, it looks like “Team You Three” is about to become “Team You Two” on Matlock Season 1 Episode 5. Then again, who could blame Olympia for taking to Matty so well?
That’s right, Madeline and Olympia are on the fast track to being “besties.” At least, that’s how things are looking for in the promo for “Claws.”
As Madeline Matlock’s plan progresses, Matty has a possible conflict of interest. How can she take down Jacobs & Moore while she and Olympia finish each other’s sentences?
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
We’ve seen how living a double life has caused a good amount of wear and tear on the titular character. Friending the boss is only going to complicate her plan even more.

A version of this story about “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” first appeared in the Down to the Wire: Drama and Limited Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
There’s a somber reason Niecy Nash-Betts is happy about her fourth Primetime Emmy nomination. “I feel like it brings more attention to Glenda Cleveland and her story (that was) going unheard, overlooked and underserved,” Nash-Betts said of her character in “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” the first season of a planned Netflix anthology series, “Monster,” from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.
Though “Dahmer” is ostensibly focused on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, it
seeks to give a face, voice and story to his victims. One of the indirect victims was
Cleveland, Dahmer’s neighbor, who repeatedly called the police after suspecting that the Milwaukee killer was harming people in his apartment. Despite her pleas, Cleveland was ignored by police.

NBCUniversal has erected a group of standing-room tents outside the studio in Burbank after it trimmed trees last week that had been providing shade to the striking and picketing members of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA unions.
Striking picketers arrived to sidewalks this week outside NBCU that were suddenly in full glare of the sun. Trees that had been providing shade amid hot summer days along Barham Blvd. were pruned and nearly bare of leaves.
Hollywood writer and WGA strike captain Darrin Dortch told The Ankler that he worked with NBCU security to get the tents put up.
“It’s obviously getting much hotter now, so we have these tents up so that when people are out here with their signs they have a spot here with some tents and with some misters, and that gives us a little relief,” said Dortch, a writer with credits including “Claws” and “The Kings of Napa.

"I'm devastated idk how all of this happened and I just wanna quit," Petras tweeted at the time, Billboard reported. Nearly a year later, "Feed the Beast" is here. Petras's first major-label album was released on June 23. That same week, she announced a 34-date world tour to promote the album, starting this fall.
"It's really like three albums combined," Petras told Popsugar in a June interview while discussing her partnership with the Motorola Razr+. "Someone leaked [my previous album], so that was annoying." From the ashes came inspiration, though. Petras's A&r representative helped her move through the "annoying" situation, she recounted, advising her, "'You gotta go feed the beast and make more music. Do what you do best.' And that's exactly what I did."
The setback turned out to be worth it. "I...

It has taken Kim Petras 15 years to get a debut album out. In the interim, the German singer —songwriter’s steady rise has made her one to watch among pop artists: Her “Era 1” singles, released from 2017 to 2019, were a cool homage to fizzy 2000s bubblegum, and her pair of Halloween-themed mixtapes were edgy, spooky fun. Earlier this year, Petras became the first trans artist to have a Number One hit, with her Sam Smith collaboration “Unholy.”
But the journey to Feed the Beast hasn’t been all Champagne and glitter.

The wait is over: Kim Petras has released her debut studio album, Feed the Beast. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
The album features several of Petras’ recent singles, including “Alone” featuring Nicki Minaj (which sampled Alice DeeJay’s “Better Off Alone”), January’s “brrr,” and her history-making Sam Smith duet “Unholy.” Banks also makes an appearance on “Bait.”
Petras announced the release on social media with a noir photo of a medieval-looking sword propped up against a large stone: “The story begins,” she wrote along with the post. Although the German singer has shared one full-length mixtape and a couple of compilation albums, this will mark her first-ever proper LP.
Feed the Beast follows Petras’ 2022 EP Slut Pop, and she’s set to perform at Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal this August ahead of her 34-date world tour. Tickets for all of her upcoming shows are available here.
