Good movie but not the original
Little exaggerated, but a very good movie giving a strong message to the society especially rich class. It is an adaptation of the Tamil movie titled Kaakkaa Muttai (2014)

Touches and disturbs you!
What I liked:
1. The theme of the movie is simple and humble desires of underprivileged kids which are similar to the kids who belong to well-to-do families. The portrayal of the hardships of the slum dwellers doesn't overshadow the theme
2. Actors have done their part well and the make-up artists and the director deserve an applause for ensuring that the actors look authentic, real-life characters
3. The abhorrent dispositions of the different sections of the society towards weak and underprivileged section is highlighted via several scenes e.g: the brothers offered a leftover piece of pizza by their affluent acquaintance, a lawyer minting money out of the impoverished family, the pizza store manager slapping the boy without getting the facts straight
4. The writer has refrained from ending the film on an unrealistic, happy ending. While the end is still unconvincing, it's far better than showing 'and the kids lived happily ever after'
What I didn't like: 1. The lyrics are inept. The original compositions of G.V Prakash Kumar are kept intact but the lyrics simply don't fit in! 2. The film gets sloppy, throughout it's length e.g: The repeated display of kids hating their absentee(detained) father, the frequent scene of the drunkard trio(two idlers and a scrap dealer), there's money enough to feed milk to the dog but not to buy even two eggs for the kids and so on
If you prefer to get disturbed by the clichéd plots and presentation of India's darker side, this movie is for you.

Rubaab-Self Respect is in all
Film takes one to ghettos of the poorest of the poor of India and reveals that children here too have same strengths, weaknesses ,dreams and Rubaab self respect as all others anywhere! Two children have a father who is in jail ,a sub judice tragedy .Mother toils for survival as Grandmother tries to keep Amber's of Dreams and self respect alive in two tender souls .Kids collect railway coals to survive. They see and dream of eating pizza and story meanders with this thread .The efforts and failures and ghetto goons and Rich Who can buy anything is revealed in each frames. The end ,if you filter off the sentimental colours and recollect all the lyrics written by Kshitijj Patwardhan reveal to you The Original Rubaab manifest in the kids in subtlest form !Kudos to cinematography which does not make you ashamed as so many have been doing filming Indian ghettos till now.Rest of the team and actors take a bow !For us let us be more empathetic as citizens , NGO,police lawyers social leaders to those less endowed ! Remember they have same Rubaab as You have!

A well made movie!
Marathi movies off late does little or no homework on its makeup or costumes. This is one such movie where the production values are kept. The authenticity of the characters are well maintained. Kudos to the cinematographer for his frames. The concept and the overall treatment needs to be lauded. A movie which can be used as a learning tool for all those new comers. A well made movie!!!
