Hollywood has seen success with reviving popular films and TV shows rather than inventing new ideas. One 1960s TV Western ripe for a reboot, The Big Valley, was set to be remade as a feature-length film. Some parts had already been cast, including A-list actors. However, the director landed in hot water over previous indiscretions, and the movie never began shooting. Here’s what happened to the failed Big Valley reboot.

A theatrical reboot of The Big Valley was proposed in 2010. Susan Sarandon was first considered for the lead role. Jessica Lange was also considered for the part. Other actors slated for the cast were Ryan Phillippe, Richard Dreyfuss, and Bruce Dern. It was to be remade as an indie feature by filmmakers Daniel Adams and Kate Edelman Johnson, MeTV reported.

The Ledge producer Michael Mailer has teamed with Hank Blumenthal to produce an inspired-by-true-events period drama, The Walk, with Daniel Adams attached to direct from a script he co-wrote with George Powell. The screenplay was originated by Powell, a former drug dealer whom Adams discovered while he was incarcerated. Upon his release, Powell turned to screenwriting and The Walk will mark his first produced script.
The story centers on Boston Irish cop Bill Coughlin as he is faced with his own suppressed racist attitude and fierce social pressure after being assigned to protect black high school students as they are bused into all-white South Boston High during the court-ordered forced integration of the Boston School System in 1974, which resulted in brutal violence and city-wide protests.

The Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday said it has charged director Daniel Adams with fraud in connection to his 2018 film “An L.A. Minute.”
In a Tuesday filing, the SEC accused Adams, along with music producer Michael Flanders, of defrauding two investors and inducing them to invest $160,000 through two companies Adams and Flanders co-founded together: Spiderworx Media LLC and An L.A. Minute LLC.
They obtained the investments, the SEC said, by using a “pattern of lies and deception.”
“Adams and Flanders made multiple material misrepresentations and omissions to at least two investors to induce their investments in defendants’ securities offerings,” the filing reads. “By lying to and misleading these investors, each of the defendants has violated the antifraud provisions of Section 10(b) of the Exchange Act and Rule 10b5(b) thereunder and Section 17(a)(2) of the Securities Act.”

Movie subscription service MoviePass has pulled the plug on annual subscriptions, telling those subscribers that they will have to adhere to the same terms as monthly subscribers.
The service made the announcement Friday in an email to those members and offered them prorated refunds if they want to cancel their annual memberships.
“We want to thank you for being a loyal member of our annual MoviePass plan,” the email said. “Your commitment to MoviePass has contributed to making our vision for an accessible and affordable moviegoing experience a reality. After experimenting with different models and options, we believe that our current monthly plan captures the need of our community — keeping prices low while continually striving to offer a wider selection of films.”
Until Friday’s announcement, subscribers to the $89 annual plans had been able to see a movie a day and had not been affected by the recent restrictions imposed on monthly subscribers.

Struggling movie-subscription provider MoviePass keeps rejiggering the schedule of titles available to customers on certain days — in a bid to reduce its cash burn.
Over the next week, MoviePass is offering up to nine movies to choose from daily, whereas it told subscribers on Aug. 16 they’d be limited to six per day.
This weekend, MoviePass’s lineup includes Melissa McCarthy comedy “The Happytime Murders.” But it excludes the two biggest movies currently in theaters: “The Meg” and “Crazy Rich Asians.” Other popular films in current release that are a no-show for MoviePass: Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible — Fallout,” “Christoper Robin” and Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman.”
More important, note that many of the films on MoviePass’s schedule are in very limited release, so the number of movies customers are actually able to see in nearby theaters may be just one or two. The upcoming lineup includes such indie films as John Cho-starrer “Searching,...

What people initially see in others isn’t always exactly what they get. That’s especially in the star-making machinery that is Los Angeles, where the majority of the public worships at the altar of celebrity. Gabriel Byrne’s seemingly happy but ultimately troubled Hollywood-based character in the new satirical comedy, ‘An L.A. Minute,’ is the prime example […]

"She's not interested in money." Strand Releasing has debuted an official trailer for a film titled An L.A. Minute, from writer/director Daniel Adams. More importantly, the film stars the very talented up-and-coming actress Kiersey Clemons, who also appears in Hearts Beat Loud - which is now playing in theaters (go see it!). In this film, Clemons plays "an avant-garde performance artist" who befriends a best-selling author who wants to write more personal books rather than the stuff that got him famous. Gabriel Byrne (seen in Hereditary) also co-stars in this film about celebrity and fame and how it works and how fake it all is. The cast includes Bob Balaban, Katherine Kendall, Ed Marinaro, Ned Bellamy, Brianna Baker, Jake Adams, and Ash Adams. Doesn't look that great. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Daniel Adams' An L.A. Minute, direct from YouTube: An L.A. Minute is a satirical look at fame,...
