Welcome to this review of Survivor Series 2019, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and this is the first Raw vs. SmackDown vs. Nxt show, so this needs to go well. That’s all there is to it. It’s time to dive into this sucker.
Match #1: Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode def. The Good Brothers, The Revival, The Forgotten Sons, The Street Profits, Ryder & Hawkins, Breezango, Metalik & Dorado, Aichner & Barthel and Heavy Machinery – Tag Team Battle Royal The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
As Dolph Ziggler handily reminded the WWE Universe on Twitter, five years ago he went an hour in the ring, came through in the clutch and ended the night as the sole survivor. He didn’t have to go that long during Survivor Series Kickoff 2019 to achieve something similar, as he and Robert Roode survived an unannounced, cross-brand Tag Team Battle Royal that handed...

WWE split up its rosters with Fox and USA "executives" making the picks ...
WWE held its Draft on Friday and Monday, splitting up rosters between SmackDown on Fox and Raw on USA Network. Different than in prior years, WWE ran a storyline where executives from each network were picking the wrestlers they wanted on their show. It was a nice real-world touch, despite the cheesy acting every time they went to the "war rooms" of each network.
Let's run down the results.
Raw will be headlined by Universal Championship Seth Rollins, with the main-event talent also including Aj Styles, Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. The next level includes Ricochet, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and Andrade. The mid-card portion of the roster will have Rusev, Aleister Black, Rey Mysteiro and R-Truth while the bottom of the card features Cedric Alexander, Sin Cara, Carillo, Erick Rowan, Buddy Murphy,...

We’re on our way towards the annual WWE event known as Survivor Series. Beginning in 1987, this event takes place each November in WWE and was one of the “Big Four” PPV’s in the company for the longest time. I’m not quite sure it’s considered to be as big as it once was, though, because it no longer feels as unique and interesting as it did for many years.
Early Survivor Series events saw a number of matches in which teams of four would team against each other, elimination style, in order to see which WWE Superstars would survive. Sometimes a whole team would survive, and their opponents would each be defeated until none were left. Sometimes each team would eliminate member of the opposition and only one or two members would survive. It was interesting, intriguing and exciting.
Later in life, Survivor Series kept the Survivor...

Every Summer since 1991 Pro Wrestling Illustrated, the famous wrestling magazine, has presented fans with the Pwi 500, a ranking of the top 500 wrestlers in the world on that specific year. It blends kayfabe with actual work-rate, popularity and visibility to create this big ole list of the best pro-wrestlers in the world. It’s fun, it’s subjective to some degree, but it’s still something that I, and many other fans, look forward to each year.
I also remember the years of Power Slam magazine here in the UK, and those guys would do a Top 50 each year too, ranking, without kayfabe really, their top fifty guys. So, I thought it might be fun to do that here on Nerdly, but rather than focusing on every wrestler in the world, I’ll focus on WWE. I do watch a bunch of other promotions, but I’ll stick with WWE. Welcome to this week’s SmackDown Live review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and spaghetti scares me. On this show, we’ve got…three matches! Damn it. It’s a two hour show. I guess that’s not enough time to wrestle in. Like a polar bear in Alcatraz, it’s time to freak out.
Match #1: The New Day def. Randy Orton & The Revival The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
WWE Champion Kofi Kingston retained his title against Randy Orton at WWE Clash of Champion, but his New Day brethren fell to The Revival, who secured the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. With animosity still strong, Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E teamed up to take on Orton & The Revival on SmackDown Live. May 29, 2014. The date of the very first Nxt TakeOver show. Man… that was over five years ago, and in the time since that show aired live in the WWE Network, we’ve seen so much change. Not just in Nxt, but in WWE in general and in the world of pro-wrestling. Going back to that first show highlights not only how much has changed, but how far Nxt as a brand has come. It’s about to go live every week on the USA Network as a two-hour show, head-to-head with the first potential wrestling competition to WWE in years, Aew. The landscape of wrestling is different now. Going back, for the sake of this article to watch every Nxt TakeOver show was no small undertaking. There’s been 26 (28 including the UK TakeOver shows) of them to date. Still… I’m a huge fan of Nxt and it’s hardly...

Welcome to this week’s Monday Night Raw review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the Raw Reunion, which will have numerous names involved with the show. Let’s see what they do with all of this name talent in one place at one time.
Match #1: The Usos def. Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Fittingly, the first match of Raw Reunion was a throwback in every sense of the word: In the ring were The Revival and The Usos, continuing the kind of old-school tag team rivalry that both tandems made their bones off of. Around the ring were the teams’ enforcers, famous tag team veterans — D-Von Dudley backed up the Raw Tag Team Champions, while Rikishi flanked his sons at ringside. And at commentary was Booker T, the two-time Hall of Famer who cut his...

Welcome to this week’s Raw review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the second week where Paul Heyman is booking (kind of). Also, my friend told me that Pat Patterson’s boys club is up and running again and Mae Young’s hand has been hired to wrestle at Summerslam against Mark Henry in a Rock, Paper, Scissors Match. I’ve got a pretty weird friend. Any-way, I hope this episode is good, because Extreme Rules needs some great build before it debuts on the WWE Network.
Match #1: Universal Champion Seth Rollins & Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch def. Andrade & Zelina Vega (Mixed Tag Team Elimination Match) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

You know… I don’t think many of today’s wrestling fans, the casual viewers anyway, realise just how f@cking good tag team wrestling can be.
It isn’t hard to find a good tag team match nowadays. I mean, all you have to do is watch an Nxt TakeOver Special and it’s likely you’ll see a blinding tag team encounter. If you popped over to Aew for their Double or Nothing event then you will have seen a couple of top notch ones too. New Japan presents them regularly, Nxt UK has shown us some great ones… they’re out there, if you look for them.
My early memories of tag team wrestling saw the likes of The Hart Foundation, Demolition, The Road Warriors, The Rockers and The Orient Express putting on short but sweet tag team clinics in WWF. I have fond memories of seeing...

Also, Brock Lesnar says he is cashing in his Money In The Bank contract tonight. Well, let’s find out who’s full of $#!@.
Match #1: Drew McIntyre & The Revival def. Roman Reigns & The Usos The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Six-Man Tag Team Match pitting Roman Reigns and The Usos against Drew McIntyre and The Revival was never going to end these respective rivalries — everyone is in too deep for their issues to end in anything short of decimation — but Raw’s wild clash kicked things into a new gear all the same, thanks in no small part to the involvement of Shane McMahon. “The Best in the World” made...

Match #1: Braun Strowman def. Sami Zayn The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Seems like we can all safely say that Braun Strowman did not ambush Sami Zayn and string him up by his ankles in order to remove the former Nxt Champion from the Men’s Money in the Bank Match. And yet, Zayn did steal The Monster Among Men’s place in said match, and he indirectly got Strowman kicked out of the arena last night, so a debt was owed. And rest assured, it was paid. Despite Zayn’s attempt to evade Strowman’s wrath by fleeing to the backstage area — he also tried to get Braun’s Super ShowDown opponent Bobby Lashley involved, but all Lashley did was...

Match #1: Raw Tag Team Champions Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins def. The Revival – Raw Tag Team Championship Match The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Curt Hawkins finally won a match at WrestleMania Kickoff — and the Raw Tag Team Titles, too, much to the chagrin of The Revival. Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection, Beth Phoenix & Natalya def. Nia Jax, Tamina & The IIconics The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Is Beth Phoenix’s return from retirement just a nostalgia trip? WWE Universe, it is not. The Glamazon was a house on fire in an Eight-Woman Tag Team Match six days before WrestleMania’s cross-generational Fatal 4-Way for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, and she was a problem for champions and challengers alike in what ended up being her first Raw victory in nearly seven years. Match #1: Becky Lynch def. Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair in a Beat the Clock Challenge The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
For all the well-documented disdain among WrestleMania’s newly-minted main-eventers — open Twitter if you dare — Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair’s shared path to their historic moment has been defined primarily by their distance between each other. With Rousey savaging challengers and security guards on Raw and Becky and Charlotte trading barbs on SmackDown Live, it’s been difficult for any competitor to establish the upper hand, so Raw’s Beat the Clock Challenge (short version: fastest victory wins) provided an opportunity for one of these women to separate from the pack.

Match #1: Ricochet & Aleister Black def. Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The hits just keep on coming for The Revival, who clawed their way to the top of the Tag Team division only to find several new boulders hovering precariously over their heads. Last week, Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano checked the new champions, and Dash & Dawson fared no better this week against the other half of the new Nxt contingent, Ricochet & Aleister Black. To their credit, The Revival employed a sound strategy, jumping their opponents before the bell in an attempt to get ahead of their near-uncontrollable foes.

Match #1: Ronda Rousey & Sasha Banks def. Nia Jax & Tamina – Tag Team Match The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
Good enemies make better allies, but nobody should get the idea that Ronda Rousey’s team-up with her challenger Sasha Banks was anything but a partnership of convenience. As crisp as both were against Nia Jax & Tamina in the first match of this week’s Raw, things went from civil to tense in a hurry during a post-match interview. Following the victory — via Bank Statement over Tamina — Rousey got a little ahead of herself in the process of praising The Boss by predicting that her inevitable victory will rank among her greatest accomplishments. Match #1: Natalya & Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax & Tamina (No Contest) The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
About the only positive thing that can be said of The Riott Squad’s continued vendetta against Natalya is that they’ve at least stopped evoking the loss of her father. Apart from that, however, Ruby Riott & Co.’s tormenting of The Queen of Harts continued apace — this week, the trio ambushed Natalya during the start of Raw’s planned opening match, a tag team bout pitting Natalya & Ronda Rousey against Nia Jax & Tamina. Nia and Tamina made quick work of The Baddest Woman on the Planet, and The Queen of Harts was left to The Riott Squad’s mercy, or lack thereof.

Welcome to this edition of WWE Week In Review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have some good matches to bring up for the Top Ten, so let’s get to it before some-body tries to make Bert and Ernie gay.
Worst Promo:
Milwaukee Bull-$@!# (Smackdown) – Aiden English told Lana he knew about what she did in Milwaukee. Who cares?
Best Promo:
Ain’t Got One Left (Raw) – Triple H said the Undertaker couldn’t take his soul because he already sold it. This added more depth to this match than even Vince may have planned on.
Worst Moment:
Host Show-Down (Smackdown) – R-Truth and The Miz fought for control of a television talk show that only airs for five minutes on Smackdown. Does Vince just not want to make any more money on ticket sales or is he just living on the edge?
Best Moment:

Welcome to this week’s Raw review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have an interesting night to get to, so let’s do so.
Match #1: The Bella Twins def. The Riott Squad The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
Only one night into The Bella Twins’ comeback run, and it’s already time for a Bellabration. Nikki & Brie knocked off The Riott Squad in the twins’ first match on Raw in almost three years, and the two former Divas Champions were in rare form from the second the bell rang. With Nikki leading a coordinated attack on Sarah Logan’s shoulders and Brie raining “Yes!” kicks on her sternum, it took a ringside interference from Ruby Riott to give the Squad its first leg up of the match. Brie found herself isolated by Morgan & Logan, but a last-second tag brought a red-hot Nikki back into the fray.

Bully Ray, formerly Bubba Ray Dudley of WWE, does not approve of The Revival’s “Raw” tribute to the late Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart on Monday.
The current WWE tag team, which is made up of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, borrowed The Hart Foundation’s Hart Attack finisher against Matt Hardy last night. Ray didn’t like the fact that they pulled it out mid-match, which can dilute the impact of a signature maneuver.
Below is the cool move re-done by The Revival as a means to honor Neidhart, who died earlier in the day. The Revival was in a Triple Threat match versus Hardy/Bray Wyatt and Raw Tag Team Champions the B-Team on Monday.

Welcome to this week’s Raw review. I’m Nathan Favel I say we jump right into the action.
Match #1: Curtis Axel w/ Bo Dallas beat Raw Tag Team Champion “Woken” Matt Hardy The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
No Woken O’s this time: Curtis Axel got a good-natured round of applause from “Woken” Matt Hardy last week after what was deemed a “fluke” victory over the Raw Tag Team Champion, but this week produced a much more decisive — and much more upsetting — victory for the “Son of Perfection.”
Not only did the latest bout of B-Team mimicry (they did “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”) leave Hardy much less amused than usual, the absence of Bray Wyatt hurt The Woken One down the stretch when Bo Dallas decided to get involved on Axel’s behalf. Dallas’ brief distraction as Hardy began to close...

Director Josh Boone has been developing an adaptation of Stephen King's epic post-apocalyptic novel The Stand since 2014. He's been developing it for the big screen and at one point we heard that it could have been adapted into four films. Well, according to The Tracking Board he is now developing it as a 10-hour limited series at CBS. The good thing about this is that the story, which is super long, will actually get a proper full adaptation.
Boone was initially hired to write a script for a single film and he ended up turning is a 3-hour long script that everyone, including Stephen King, loved. The studio then asked him if he wanted to make multiple films, to which he said:
"Fuck yes! I loved my script, and I was willing to drop it in an instant because you’re able to do an even truer version that way.

Directed by Jennifer Gerber, The Revival is effective in its brevity. Running at a lean 84 minutes, the focus is on Eli (David Rysdahl), a young preacher running the church his late, beloved father founded. Unsure of himself and his sermons while money and parishioners run short, he encounters a handsome drifter named Daniel (Zachary Booth) who complicates things further. Based on the play of the same name by Samuel Brett Williams (who also wrote the screenplay), the film leans on Rysdahl and Booth, who are the sure standouts.
While Eli spends the film cloaked in responsibility, fighting his inner urges, Daniel appears free and open. Their chemistry is at once prevalent and vacant, Gerber going well to let the camera linger on reactions from each performer at any given moment. The surrounding community is represented primarily by the bullish Trevor (Raymond McAnally), Eli’s self-appointed hype man, and June (Lucy Faust), Eli’s pregnant wife.

With an attention-grabbing hook and two riveting central performances, Jennifer Gerber's feature directorial debut The Revival holds you in its grip even when it stumbles. Adapted from a 2010 play by Samuel Brett Williams, this striking, if erratic, drama about a Southern Baptist preacher succumbing to a very forbidden desire is hardly a game-changing or groundbreaking entry in the nebulous, gradually expanding genre that is queer cinema. But it is a worthwhile one, showcasing a pair of deeply gifted leading men and a promising new talent behind the camera. The Revival is also notable for its unblinking look at the...
