TetroVideo have announced the release of giallo horror Nightmare Symphony, the psychological horror The Bad Man and the shocking experimental dramatic art film Debris Documentar. Nightmare Symphony is coming to Blu-ray while The Bad Man and Debris Documentar are coming in a limited Digipack edition including a DVD and a Collector’s card: only 150 copies for The Bad Man and 300 copies for Marian Dora’s film are planned.

All three titles will be available for pre-order on June 1st.

Nightmare Symphony is a giallo horror film co-directed by Domiziano Cristopharo and Daniele Trani (Dop in “Across the River”). Produced by Ulkurzu and Hh Kosova and written by the well-known italian screenwriter Antonio Tentori, Nightmare Symphony is a tribute to Lucio Fulci’s Nightmare Concert/A Cat in the Brain, in which Fulci himself played a tortured horror filmmaker haunted by his own bloody horror film visions.

News for all you extreme horror fans out there. Our friends at TetroVideo are releasing two more horror flicks on DVD today: Scott Schirmer's 2016 flick Plank Face and Salvador Haidar's 2007 flick Snuff 102.    Both releases are limited to 150 copies and are all regioin so even though TetroVideo is based out of Italy you don't have to worry about playing them anywhere else. Unless your mom is in the room. That's probably the only time you don't want to play these at home.    Each disc is priced at 17.90 euros and you will find them here. Tagline: "In 2018, You Will Say His Name." The Bad Man is the latest film from Indiana based director Scott Schirmer. Schirmer is known for his horrifying serial killer thriller Found (2012), Harvest Lake (2016) and Plank Face (2016). His latest was partially crowdfunded through Kickstarter. In The Bad Man, Ellie Church stars as Mary, a woman kidnapped by a sadistic clown. Pj (Jason Crowe) is also confined in a remote house. This young couple must find a way out of their dire situation, before auction day arrives. A Blu-ray version of the film will be available this Fall. And, the film's second trailer is hosted below. Only Kickstarter backers will receive the upcoming Limited Edition Blu-ray. This version includes Examination Sheets, an autographed character postcard and other goodies. Those not part of the Kickstarter campaign, can get a hold of another Blu-ray version in November. Though, this second version will also be limited in stock.

Make no mistake about it: this was a great year for horror fans. It was so good, in fact, that making a list of “favorites” is almost impossible because there’s just too much I want to talk about. The independent horror scene continues to crank out new classics and minor gems, but even studio horror was good this year: The Conjuring 2, Don’t Breathe, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Lights Out (not my bag, but a lot of people really enjoyed it), The Boy (not a lot of people’s bag, but I really enjoyed it), The Purge: Election Year, and so on. Even better? Pretty much every one of them was successful at the box office. As more and more horror moves are released with the limited release / VOD model, it’s nice to know that good movies still play to big audiences at the multiplex.

And what about horror on TV?...

Presented by Deadhouse Films, The 10th annual A Night of Horror International Film Festival, and Fantastic Planet: Sydney Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival, screen simultaneously at Dendy Cinemas Newtown from November 24 to December 4, 2016. Says festival director Dean Bertram:

The 10th annual festival is going to be our biggest event yet. Featuring over 100 films, several international filmmaker guests, multiple parties and a horror filmmaking master class; Sydney’s genre fans and filmmaking community are going to be treated to eleven days of the best and freshest horror, sci-fi, and fantasy from around the globe.

The festival opens on Thursday November 24, with the Australian premiere of the international festival hit Peelers, plus a Q&A with special international guest: Canadian director Sevé Schelenz. And in keeping with the spirit of the bloody hilarious film, the screening will be followed by a “zombie and strippers” themed after party.
