Trivia
When Luke is found by the resistance members, graffiti on the plywood of the coffee shop he hides out in reads "God hates fags", which, aside from reflecting the generally hostile attitude of the Gileadean regime toward the LGBTQ community, is also the slogan of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, who are vehemently anti-gay.

Goofs
Whitford makes Luke and June give him their green backpack, saying they shouldn't look like they're running. He puts it in the abandoned wreck with other confiscated stuff. The family then hides in the trunk of the escape car. But when they arrive at the cottage, June has the same backpack over her shoulder.

Stunning episode

Huge fan of the series overall.

Rewatching from the start and this episode is actually amazingly well done. It's art. It's poetic. Yes it tells the backstory but it adds depth to already interesting characters and underscores more of the theme of redemption and hope.

Beautiful scenery, beautiful score, excellent acting.

Very underrated episode of a new perfect first season.

The scene towards the end with the note really gave a good arc to the series. Every episode it gets better. It's such an impressive first season. Even 6 years on it holds up bigtime.

IMO one of the best shows of the last 10 years.
