Fremantle is getting into business with Fudge Park, the indie behind Aimee Lou Wood’s BBC comedy Daddy Issues.
The pair have struck a first look and development deal, which will see Fremantle become the primary home for all of Fudge Park’s upcoming scripted projects. The UK indie will also work closely with Fremantle’s global drama and International sales divisions to help develop its drama and comedy slate.
Fudge Park’s latest is Daddy Issues, which is sold by Fremantle and was recently re-upped for a Season 2. Starring Sex Education breakout Wood and David Morrissey and created by Danielle Ward (Brassic), Daddy Issues follows Stockport-based Gemma (Wood), who discovers she’s pregnant after a random hook-up. The show is the top-rated BBC Three comedy since the channel’s 2021 relaunch, according to the national broadcaster.
Fudge Park was founded a decade ago by The Inbetweeners creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris.

Eminem kicked off the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards with a performance of “Houdini” and his Jelly Roll collaboration “Somebody Save Me” off his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
The performance opened with a short skit in which a mass of Slim Shady clones stormed New York’s Ubs Arena under the leadership of Eminem as he rapped the opening lyrics of “Without Me” from 2002’s The Eminem Show. In a choppy blonde wig of his own, Eminem used the opening as a reference to his entrance at the 2000 MTV VMAs,...

To a generation of Brits, Iain Morris may forever be known as half of the duo that created “The Inbetweeners,” the wildly rude sitcom about a group of mostly unpopular teenage boys that ran from 2008-2010 and was followed by two hugely successful films.
But the multi-talented creative has been prolifically busy since then, reuniting some of the “The Inbetweeners” lead cast for BBC comedy series “White Gold,” creating another BBC comedy “First Team,” working on FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows,” helping write Taika Waititi’s soccer comedy “Next Goal Wins” and recently being tapped to direct Netflix rom-com feature “My Oxford Year.”
For the last few years, he’s also been hard at work on “Time Bandits,” Apple TV+’s small-screen reimagining of Terry Gilliam’s cult 1981 fantasy comedy about a young boy taken on an adventure through time with a band of thieves (mostly played...

Track by Track is our recurring feature series in which artists guide readers through each song on their latest release. Today, New York City rocker Des Rocs give us insight into his sophomore album, Dream Machine.
Des Rocs, aka Danny Rocco, sports the silhouette of a young Elvis Presley, and his brand of self-described “bedroom arena rock” tugs at the rock ‘n’ roll of the past with the intent of making the present a bit more tolerable.
Fused with the wit of an artist forging his path in the competitive New York City circuit, his music transcends pastiche and is frankly refreshing. There’s tangible joy: bombastic chords, anthemic Queen-esque choruses, glam-metal swagger. In a gloomy world where many musicians are making gloomy music, Des Rocs sounds like the damn antidote.

With the reunion of classic TV shows being all the rage right now, can we ever expect CW’s ultimate millennial series Gossip Girl to come back?
“There’s been discussions,” said CW President Mark Pedowitz at TCA today, “but I don’t know if we’re there yet.”
“I don’t know what it would be, a lot of that is up to the Warner Bros. studio and Josh and Steph because you don’t want to do anything without them,” added the network boss.
Gossip Girl ran for six seasons from 2007-2012 on the CW across 121 episodes and aired at a time when social media was taking off.
The sensation of the series extended beyond the tube, impacting young women’s fashion sense. The New York Times reported in 2008 that Gossip Girl was “one of the biggest influences on how young women spend. Fans stride into boutiques bearing...

Over four months after the Los Angeles County District Attorney confirmed that it was investigating Ed Westwick for multiple allegations of sexual assault, Jackie Lacey’s office today said that the Gossip Girl alum will not be charged.
“Three separate women recently reported to law enforcement that suspect sexually assaulted them at three different times in 2014,” stated the D.A.’s office in a July 17 charge evaluation worksheet made public Friday. “Victim 1 alleged an assault and identified potential fresh complaint witnesses, the paperwork explained. Victim 2 alleged an assault and said two people were present at the location but outside of the room where the assault occurred. Those witnesses were not able to provide information that would enable the prosecution to prove either incident beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecution on those two incidents is declined due to insufficient evidence.”

The 30-year-old actor has already completed filming for the Agatha Christie drama “Ordeal By Innocence”, but it was announced he is to be replaced by Christian Cooke, a decision that sets a precedent for the UK industry, marking the first of this kind of post-shoot recasting in a UK drama since the recent sexual harassment scandals broke. Following Kristina Cohen’s November claim (which was then followed by two other women...

The BBC announced today that Ed Westwick's role in the upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie's Ordeal by Innocence has been recast despite the three-part special wrapping filming in September 2017. In the wake of multiple sexual assault allegations lobbied at the British actor late last year, the BBC shelved their intended airing of the drama during the festive period. However, it seems the production will now see the light of day, with actor Christian Cooke taking over the part from Westwick and reshooting scenes with the ensemble cast including Matthew Goode, Bill Nighy, Ella Purnell, Anna Chancellor, and Alice Eve. Also said to be shelved is the second season of the BBC 2 production White Gold, which featured Westwick in the starring role.

Hollywood’s sexual harassment scandals have had an immediate effect on the industry — and on TV viewers as well. As networks and studios are confronted with allegations of misconduct and assault by their stars, producers, and even executives, heightened publicity has also prevented them from sweeping such news under the rug.
Instead, from morning to primetime, broadcast, cable and streaming services have been faced with making big moves on some of their biggest properties. In the $1 billion morning show competition, both NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “This Morning” fired key anchors. Netflix’s and Amazon’s signature, award-winning dramas are expected to return without their lead stars. Paramount Network planned to launch by leveraging the Weinstein brand — but that strategy is dead. And FX must now rebuild its comedy brand without the producer who inspired much of it.
