Kammara Sambhavam, a concept that will be loathed by many, a effort that will be praised by few. This is how experiments should be brought on. A prime example of how to deviate from the usual, conventional way of presenting a plot so rich and full of opportunities, in the most genre-breaking way ever. Truly a eccentric presentation, filled with some drawbacks that hinder the 'entertainment' a bit.
Rathish Ambat's slick frames looks nothing like you would expect from a debutant. Fitting Music, an engrossing BGM and a terrific on screen presence from Dileep make this a entertaining watch throughout, no holds barred. Dileep performs majestically. From the trademark Dileep of cheap, slapstick comedy flicks, he sure has made a grand comeback. Both as an actor and as a person. From the scrawny, twisted mind of the young Kammaran to a old, decaying Kammaran, Dileep sure keeps the audience glued to the screen.
Namitha Pramod, Murali Gopi (also as the man behind the script), Shewtha Menon and almost every single cast performed just as they should've. Special mention to Sidharth, who just brings the required class to the movie. The second half (satirical part) brings the actor to his complete potential.
Murali Gopi has just scripted his best after Left Right Left. From a disaster Tiyaan, he has finally written something that doesn't make him feel like a person who just symbolizes the crap out of everything.
Kammara Sambhavam was touted as a, well mostly as a Epic historical movie. It's far from that. Think of the film as a uneven mix between a rigorous tale of betrayal and a really good satirical, comedy ride.
The first half is the epitome of exemplar filmmaking. After the 2009 historical outing Pazhassi Raja, it is surprising that no major historic epics were greenlit in mollywood. Kammara Sambhavam may not be a epic in proportions, but it is sure a epic in terms of the achievement in making a plot so experimental, a vibrant success.
The second half streches, a bit. But enough to maintain the attitude the film has amassed from the first. With moments that test you to moments that comply with events of real life, the film just couldn't hit the spot they so badly wanted.
This is how a vision, a risk should be brought on screen. And a big 'Yes' from me.

Very interesting...Kammaran is a traitor who got away each time...this also shows how movie makers glorify the traitors and make them look like 'heroes'. A very good take on the actual events vs whitewashed story.
Dileep and Siddharth were fantastic.

The cast did their work best to keep the movie enjoyable. Especially Dileep and Siddarth. Dileep has done lot of hardwork.
Murali gopi presented a subject which is relevant in today's social scenario.
My friends told me that if the movie had the order changed for first half and second half, it would have been interesting. But some say its not necessary. All this confusion arose because both the halves are equally and independently good but they couldn't be combined effectively. Also songs were not necessary. Interval gives us a thread leading is too the end. To see the full performance of actor in Dileep, Watch till the end.
The movie gives is an important message; we shouldn't choose our leaders, only by what they say their history is, search for proof.

You get really confused when reviewing this movie. There are many parts that were unnecessary but i think the good part of the film just overrules the rest. The concept behind the movie is awesome.
Direction is awesome. I could feel the intensity.
A change of cast would have definite improved the overall quality of the movie.
The story is very new and intense. A sure shot thriller.
Overall good movie

Rathish Ambat's Kammara Sambhavam's (Big Deal Kammara) satirical story is probably the most interesting that I have seen in the last few years that aims high at describing how cinema can manipulate history and catapult a man's legacy into something positive while using a bunch of lies that everybody collectively come to believe; yet it is terribly long for a multi-genred drama that does remind you of sleep. TN.
This is my Ist review which is born mostly out of mental frustrations. I love cinema from my childhood; irrespective of the language, what made me believe in it was the inexhaustible creativity and views that cinema gives to us.I'm from Kerala,Malayalam film attained its commercial peak through a mass masala movie that was at the time the greatest biggie in our industry .Keeping the genre I enjoyed the movie then came this movie which truly made me enjoy think and involved beyond the duration. When I enjoyed and left the first movie on the theatre seat, this was something that I took along with me.Kammara Sambhavam is as the name implies is a magnum opus and intense cinematic experience technicians at top notch acting at the top class specially Dileep who proved in this movie,he is truly legendary but sadly maintained in the shackles of comedy. It was a movie which I could recommend to my friend outside my state because the genre-breaker approach with which the film was constructed. This is somewhere money was worth fully spend beyond pure business like some of the new wave Tamil cinema.I wrote this because I felt the wrong audience of my state is really giving a bad buzz I request all journalist giants to control their pen because many of their uncontrolled premature comments made many quality works to be a cult outside and people who simply watch movies like exhaling puff
not as an art to mould yourself don't watch this. This is not for bookworms this is not for leisure maniacs but for lovers of cinema which is often imitated in our lives...
Movies like this dnot happen often in malayalam.I ts a great movie with brilliant script by murali gopi and well excuted by ratheesh ambat.Great one.
"Why didn't this movie become a phenomenal hit?"
This was the first question that came to my mind after watching the movie. A never before tried concept, a pure novelty with an amazing cast yielded an immersive experience. Truly, I was into it the whole time. The movie portrays how media and politics come together to rewrite history for their own benefits. It's definitely a must watch!

What are the things the film makers tried to tell us ? This is absolutely not entertaining. And very lagging and story is not gripping. Dileep done some good works . But overall .. I still can't figure out what is this movies all about and what they were tryna tell us
It generally says that, History is within the hands who write it.

Kammarasambavam is best ever spoof film in Indian film history. And it is the Malayalam film in recent times with all the part or crew of a film with its peak. Especially Direction, Screenplay, Editing, cinematography, Acting, Sound, BGM&Music. It should be in the list of must watchable and best Malayalam films of all time. May the kammarasambavam be the best spoof movie of world cinema.
This is how you blend drama, action, romance, revenge, satire, politics, history, everything in one movie. Excellent writing and brilliant making. A bit more fast paced editing in first half would have made it more interesting. But that apart, Kammara Sambhavam is a must watch movie for movie lovers and I am sure, this will eventually be recognized as a cult classic in Malayalam.
By looking at all the reviews below I understand one thing this people have not even seen the movie they are all dileep fans tats all, looks like he had paid them to write good reviews of a movie which is completely pathetic

A well made movie with equal amount of realism and satire. The story and screenplay were different and it was well executed by the director. Technically the movie is brilliant in all the departments and the casting was perfect.

A variety movie to wrong audience
* Main positive is subject & performances
* A decent first half and average second half.
* Bgm was just awesome
* Direction & dop did good job.
* Negative i found in this movie is duration
Overall a good movie that explores real politics in our country. Do watch 👍
One of the most Over-rated films After TV premiere . No story to think again, it is the bad kind of brainless entertainment... and an absolute mess.
It is a brilliant script, concept, performance and execution.. Sad that it may have been marred by the controversy that happened during course of its release...as a movie buff this was a gem and enjoyed it thoroughly in the movie theatre...script was the king not just actors...out of the box thought in our industry...its likely to have a cult following down the line..

Great movie, with an excellent script and direction.Better than expected as media reviews somehow seem to underate it.But excellent cinematic experience.
Don't pay a heed to the negative reviews! Kammara Sambhavam is a phenomenal experiment in mollywood. The film is unique in its own way. A highly underrated "cinema-in a-cinema" historical satire film which brilliantly mocks the biopic movies which are made up to glorify celebrities, politicians etc as heroes who are actually villains in reality. If you are an avid follower of mainstream south Indian movies, you will notice key elements in the second half which imitates the stereotypical way of presenting a mass hero in commercial cinema.

A Must Watch !!! Very entertaining historical drama thriller with great performance by Dileep. The other cast (Murali Gopy, Namitha Pramod and Siddharth) performed well. Dileep's performance as a crook is the main highlight of the movie. Murali Gopy's writing is very commendable. The first half episode was shot very well with great performances and intense scenes. The first half is more of an epic historical drama and the second half is a satirical political drama. The dialogues are superb and Dileep's performance as the old Kammaran is praiseworthy. All technical departments have done great job. The climax performance is the cherry on the cake.

A very good movie with good direction, excellent cinematography and acting. Dileep did the 3 characters with depth. Namitha Pramod, Sidharth, BobbySimha, Indrans, Siddique all did their parts well..
Dileep sure upped his game for this role, expecting to see more in future.
