Rumours persist about the direction Spider-Man 4 will head in, but one of the most popular suggestions is the Spidey-obsessed Jameson outfitting the Scorpion with the tech needed to take down the vigilante.

During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Simmons was asked about his MCU future and whether he'll reprise arguably his most iconic role in the hero's 2026 return.

Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters this week. The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie formally introduces Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as the new Captain America, taking over from the retired Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Once upon a time, about six years ago, superheroes were the biggest thing in cinemas. In 2019, no less than three superhero movies made over a billion dollars at the box office: Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Avengers: Endgame, which also happens to be the second highest-grossing movie of all time. If you throw Joker in there, it's four. Surely the good times would roll forever.

But they didn't. The sequel to Captain Marvel, The Marvels, came out a few years later and became Marvel's first box office bomb, grossing around $200 million on a budget of nearly $300 million. Major tentpole movies like Ant-Man 3 underperformed, earning less than both of its predecessors, and new heroes like Shang-Chi and the Eternals never caught fire. Things were even worse on the DC side of things. Whereas Aquaman made over $1 billion in 2018, the 2023 sequel made less than half that. It was the same story for the Shazam!

Oh what a tangled web we weave when the multiverse becomes part of Spider-Man canon. The Spider-Man film franchise started simply enough, with 2002’s “Spider-Man.” Fast forward 20 years and three different actors have played live-action versions of the Wall Crawler, with the trio joining forces in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

The most recent Spidey flick wasn’t just a fun family reunion. It also led to Marvel verifying the existence of the multiverse in its live-action productions. As the former Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange says in the film, “The multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little.”

While the establishment of the multiverse has a still yet-to-be-determined impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the present it can make watching Spider-Man movies in order a little complicated.

When Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios parted ways after Spider-Man: Far From Home, Sony executives immediately started making plans to continue the franchise without Kevin Feige's input.

We'll likely never know what that would have entailed. However, once both sides managed to get back on good terms, the wall-crawler found himself caught up in the Multiverse with 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. That led to the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective Peter Parker Variants, not to mention some familiar villains.

Last year, Final Destination 6 (which is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines) finally, after years of development and a long year gap between sequels, made its way through production. Franchise producer Craig Perry previously let it be known that the film was aiming for a theatrical release in 2025 – in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. It will even be on IMAX screens! It was recently confirmed that Final Destination: Bloodlines is set to reach theatres on May 16, 2025… and now, a teaser trailer for the film has arrived online. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has, on a number of occasions, touched on or teased Marvel Comics storylines, only to waste them or otherwise ignore them completely. The MCU’s movie timeline has seen it grow from a handful of connected narratives to the biggest and most successful shared universe in cinema. Part of the key to its success has been its handling of its Marvel Comics source material, adapting select stories from the comics over the course of the franchise.

Exclusive: Sony’s President of Domestic Distribution Adrian Smith is retiring after a 35-year run at the studio.

Taking over for Smith is Adam Bergerman who is being upped to President of Distribution.

Back in 2005, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman put a superhero twist on the idea of zombie outbreaks with the five issue limited series Marvel Zombies. That series became incredibly popular and has gotten a ton of sequels and spin-offs over the years. There was a nod to it in one of the illusions on display in Spider-Man: Far from Home, and then the Marvel Zombies concept got an entire episode of Marvel’s animated Disney+ series What If…? devoted to it. What’s going on with the incredible Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Although his adversaries Red Hulk and The Leader (as well as his ex-girlfriend Betty Ross) are known to be in Captain America: Brave New World, it doesn’t seem that he’s going to show up in the movie – and if he does, it’s likely to just be a cameo. Christopher Nolan’s new film has been revealed to be an adaptation of The Odyssey. Universal Pictures announced the film on Tuesday, revealing a release date of July 17, 2026. Wicked is now one of the 50 highest-grossing movies of all time at the domestic box office. Since its November 22 debut, the long-awaited adaptation of the Broadway musical has been a massive box office hit.

As per Deadline, Wicked has now earned $392.4 million domestically. This makes it the 49th highest-grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office, surpassing Spider-Man: Far From Home, which previously held this spot at $391.4 million.
