Pleasantly Surprised
I didn't know what to expect, but this movie kept my attention, had some interesting subplots, and was genuinely sweet and funny. The lead was likable and the pug was adorable. I enjoyed Sarah's interactions with her family, her work life, and there was even some romance. If you enjoy romantic comedies or even family films featuring animals, this may be the film for you.

If you like dogs it's okay.
If you're expectations are just not that high, if you just want some easy entertainment, some laughs (predictable ones but overall not that bad) Patrick might be a movie for you. The entire movie is a feelgood family movie, not much of a story going on except the easy cheesy moments you usually have with these kind of movies. I did enjoy it, mostly because it's about a dog and that happens to be my weak spot, so I can't really complain. But to be realistic it's a movie fine to watch once on a rainy sunday with the whole family but that's about it. The acting is passable, nothing great but nothing cringing either. Could it have been better? Certainly but for dog lovers it will do the job.

Romantic comedy for the family
After watching the trailer, I thought this film was a light hearted romantic comedy. While watching it, I realised it was more of a family film with a lot of romantic comedy elements in it. It is fun, positive and squeaky clean. I enjoyed it.
light weight doggie love
Sarah Francis' life is a bit of a mess. Her older sister is smug about her perfect life. Her parents pity her struggles. She gets dumped by her boyfriend. She is starting out as a new school teacher but she has an uninvited little guest. Her grandmother had died leaving her a spoiled pug named Patrick. She doesn't want him and her flat doesn't allow pets. She does meet a couple of guys while walking Patrick. There's a 5k charity run but she runs like a really, really old man.
It is the lightest of comedy. There is nothing much to this. The lead performer is likeable enough. She's Jennifer Saunders' daughter and has a glimmer of her talents. The pug is relatively cute. There isn't anything objectionable. It is the barest of pass as a comedy and it isn't much more than that. Dog lovers may get more out of this.

Over-the-top feel good movie
This was silly and ridiculous at times, but was overall a funny pick-me-up film. If you're looking for something light, positive, and family-friendly this would be a great choice.

A very silly movie
BUT GREAT FUN TO WATCH!
Any family will enjoy that crazy Patrick and the love he receives even when he is into his mischievous self. The boat scene is great!

Charming but Flawed.
Could have been better, but amusing. Charming, but predictable.
Well acted. Lead actress did fine, given what she had to work with.

So bad
This is just a terrible movie. Every cliche in the book, not an original, or funny, line, almost insulting in its banality. A superb cast, given absolutely nothing to work with - script not even edited. All concerned should be ashamed of themselves - clearly a vanity project for Jennifer Saunders

Thoroughly enjoyable
I watched this film earlier today and really enjoyed it. It has everything - laughter, tears, an adorable dog and a lovely storyline. Highly recommend for children and adults alike.

For Kids
My HONEST review is for kids. As an adult, this flicks is horrible. BUT my 11 year old loved it. So bite the bullet and deal.
Not funny at all! Talking too much entire film! Bored to freaking death! Avoid at all cost!
Love pugs, but not enough to stick with this.
The lead actress was quite annoying and the film was, for me, just too try-hard whimsical and just boring, really. I only stuck it out for 45 minutes so maybe it gets better.
Cutsie if you like that sort of thing
Lots of cliche situations but 28 producers!!!! That is about3 mins per producer! It's over half the cast (49) - sweet girl in the lead who was in Bridget Jones' baby which this sort of feels like - Bridget Jones' pug!
Drink lots before watching this....

Bridget Jones wannabe
Oh dear. Embarrassing to watch. Too similar to Bridget Jones with the skatty blonde London girl who doesn't appear to get a decent break. Shocking.

Genuinely baffled that this film got made
By Hollywood standards £6 million is a very small budget, but it still beggars belief that anyone put up a penny for "Patrick". The biggest problem is the script, clearly the work of someone who's never written one before and decided to copy and paste every romcom cliche and lovable-pet-changes-your-life cliche rather than write one here. Nothing that happens in this film is the product of genuine character interaction or development. People say and do things because those things are in the script and they're required to get us from one scene to the next, regardless of how little purpose there is to it. Every plot line is artificially bolted on to every other, and the performances are all kinds of bad, from Ed Skrein phoning it in to Beattie Edmondson overacting like a twelve year old trying to impress the teachers in a school pantomime. No jokes, no believable relationships - between humans and humans or between humans and dog - and no point. A lot of favours must have been called in to get this amateurish mess produced, and I can't imagine anyone involved now believes it was worth it.

Not for me
I'm a huge dog lover (sadly not a fan of pugs) but this film had some really good names in it - sadly it failed to live up to my expectations. I guess the kids might like it - has moments of slapstick kinds of comedy.

How did this get made?
No, seriously, how? Quite possibly the worst film ever made. Terrible acting, terrible plot, it's am-dram at best. I wish I could block the memory of ever watching it.

Low expectations but overall good film
Me and my girlfriend love pugs so we thought why not. Actually a decent movie. Of course its a family film so needs to attract a younger audience but its a really feel good film i could put on during a gloomy afternoon. And its got a pug like come on people!

Horrible movie; adorable dog
The dog is by far the best actor in this miserable outing and the only positive aspect of the entire endeavour.
Script is absolute rubbish, and the performance by lead actress Beattie Edmonson is incredibly grating, almost unwatchable.
Supporting cast is okay, but with a script this bad, it's really hard to tell.

10 for Dog
The dog played great.
Poor play of actors, poor script
The good part is that as the film was playing, I was able to do other homework.
A family movie -> Check. Sweet -> Meh-check. comedy -> Nope.
So Amy Macdonald did a good job singing these songs .. :D , lol ,, no but them ovie was just sweet family movie with mediocre plot and close to nothing of a laughable comedy.
I really wished it had a stronger script , even with a plot like that, more comical screenplay could have enriched the plot and made the movie look less dull and followable at least.
The cast was just like the movie itself "just acceptable" ... no engaging and no interaction at all ,, i think the script didn't help too.
final thought ,, it might be a sweet family movie ,, but if you are 16 to 60 yo don't put so much hope or expect much of this.

Two stars and they're for the pug
If there's an award for over-acting and another for overdoing the (attempts at) comedy, the lead actress would win it. She'd also win for overdoing facial expressions. Honestly she was more annoying than entertaining.
Her facial expressions and attempts at comedy were just too annoying (the date with the vet was OTT). The 'funny' running and falling in the bushes- very Bridget Jones. Her voice annoyed us too- weak, high pitched, and little girly.
To the story......predictable with a few laughs, mainly the antics of the dog. Good to see Bernard Cribbins.
Silly to have her real mum in the film too - disguised with frightful hair and a fat suit. The 'I thought it was fancy dress' is another scene stolen from BJ. Wasn't anywhere near as funny. Poor Saunders probably thought she was giving a humorous performance.
An OK predictable film (the class and the odd pupil). A teacher wouldn't invigilate her class test/exam or interfere in a pupil's family life.
With a different actress or if this one had toned down her performance the film may have been enjoyable.
The locations were beautiful- Windsor I think.
NB one of the most annoying parts? The scene at the door with Ben- over the top. Too much. Please please someone tell her to stop the ridiculous facial expressions and attempts at comedy.
